Hello...I'm new here!
Hello everyone!
I've been reading this entire folder intently over the last month or so and I finally decided to post. I'm currently interested in pursuing AI. I would loved to have rushed in college but I had to work and did not have extra money for dues and such. But now I'm an old gal at 28 and I feel like this is the perfect time to see if AI is a possibility for me. I realize how rare it is for successful AI, but now is the time and I'm ready to take a chance. :) However my story turns out, I'm really enjoying the support I see on these boards and particularly in the AI folder. You all are a credit to your organizations. So now if you see me popping into conversations, you'll know who I am! |
Welcome to the forum. Your situation kind of resembles mine.
Everyone- there has been even more progress. But I don't want to reveal details yet. |
Welcome to the forum, SweetCali. Please read through the numerous threads for a lot of tips. The best tip I can tell you is to be VERY discrete in what you post about your AI journey and about yourself personally on this board.

Ditto Scandia on the welcome and good luck. Scandia the best of luck to you also. |
Welcome to GC! And best of luck to you--keep us posted!!
|
Welcome to GC! I'm going to echo the call for discretion. If you want to post details, I'd recommend using "code names" like many of the other posters on here. If you read through a few of their threads, you may get the idea of how that works :)
Good luck! |
Welcome.
And yes, the distance would go into their consideration of you. Or it sure should. |
Thank you everyone for the welcome and the information!
|
good luck with your process.

I'm new to GC too! Congrats on your venture. I've been reading all morning! Lots of stuff!

Thanks to everyone. Things are moving along for me. :)

I am digging up this old thread because I am back!
In the interest of total discretion, I haven't updated my story here or given many details. There wasn't much to tell--I only looked into one organization that I had a connection to. And this process involves a lot of down time with months (a year?) sometimes of little contact. It's been a lengthy process, but I'm so PROUD to say that I've been invited to join the sisters of... Actually, I think I'll go get something to eat first and come back to this...:p |

Thank you everyone!
I hope it's okay to post about receiving the letter--it might be a few months before I can be initiated at my alma mater and I can't contain my excitement!!! |
Congrats!
I am just wondering if you live close to your alma mater and thats why you're getting initiated there? I know usually AI's do their initiation at the closest local college chapter or at the nationals. I think that'd be a lot more meaningful to AIs to get initiated at their alma mater. |

Welcome SweetCali to a wonderful sisterhood! I bet you'll love being a sister as much as I have :-) Best wishes and enjoy your new member period if you have one

Congratulations! I know many fine women who are Tri-Deltas!

Congratulations! One of my coworkers is a tri-delt from UCLA and she is the sweetest!

I have the application from a wonderful NPC organization to apply to become an AI. I need to state my qualifications as to why I would be an asset to this organization. Are there certain things I should stress about my current philanthropic endavors or educational goals? I want to make sure that I am thorough in my application. Any help or advice is appreciated.I did not have any GLO on my college campus and it is one thing I regret not being able to experience as an undergraduate. I have many girlfriends who are sisters in GLO's and I enjoyed hearing about their experiences during college as well as an alumnae.

Just answer the questions that are presented on the application. If it asks to describe your volunteer experience, describe your volunteer experience. If it asks you to state any special talents you have that could be of use to the organization (leadership skills, experience as a mentor, event planning, etc), state your talents. It's that simple. If you need assistance filling in the application, really your questions would be better directed to the sorority, your sponsor or the friends you mentioned. Good luck! :) .....Kelly :) |
Good luck on your process. Any questions should be directed to the organization or your sponsor.
