Change in Name...BamaDad DZ
Sorry to start a new thread, but I had extreme difficulties getting into GreekChat under my old BamaDad name/password/e-mail address once I switched to Verizon's DSL service today.
So, I took the opportunity to switch my name to BamaDad DZ. Do you think it makes me look more like one of the gang? I imagine BamaDaughter DZ will appreciate it. She just returned from weekend retreat and is bearing down for classes tomorrow and five thousand DZ activities next week. No ned to pursue the thread, I wanted to advise you everyone of the change, particularly if you tried to send me any private messages as BamaDad. To whoever operates the GreekChat system.....I got locked out so I re-reregistered. If you can clear out my old registration info I will be appreciative! |
A (killarney) rose by any name will smell just as sweet! ;) I think it's nice that you've changed your screen name in honor of your daughter!
|
Yay! Love the name!
|
Oh how sweet.
I love dads. |

BamaDad DZ, please send Kristen to GreekChat so she can introduce herself in the DZ Forum! We always love adding a new sister to the GreekChat ranks!
Edited to add: As a DZ, I can say with certainty that Kristen would *love* one of these if you're feeling generous next time there's a gift-giving occasion ;) http://www.hjgreek.com/index.cfm?eve...roduct_ID=8937 |
Thanks for the gift suggestion, Killarney Rose! You found out I was a lawyer, did you? I've encouraged Kristen to scan the DZ in-line gift shop, pick out what she likes, and Daddy will place an order. Why not?
She will eventually post on GreekChat - she is already registered. Kristen just finished her DZ retreat last weekend. This week DZ has a social event every night, plus an Alabama football home game this weekend. In between she has classes...... Did I mention that she absolutely loves her 200 plus new best friends at DZ? |

You told us you were a lawyer. :) Quote:

greekmom, you can be a detective or my criminal investigator anyday! Who would have thought someone would remember a non-significant reference to my bar exam. Well done! Actually, my daughter always uses the line: "You're a lawyer, Daddy, you can afford it". Works like a charm......
Killarney Rose accurately points out there are a tremendous number of items availablefor the discerning DZ lady. I told my daughter to give me her list to further commemorate her acceptance into Delta Zeta. Why not? |

QUOTE] Ha, ha. My kids always use the same line with their dad: "You're a doctor, Daddy, you can afford it." Unfortunately, we often get the "doctor's discount" when shopping for cars, etc! |

Absolutely! |
Kristen turned down multiple date offers for Saturday's Alabama football game just so she could sit with her DZ pledge class. Turned out to be one of her most exciting days ever! On another subject, I saw the DZ pledge class Facebook pics [insert wolf whistle here]. How did they ever get 83 ladies of this fine caliber in one sorority house?
|
I feel like I reading the posts of "justamom", when her daughter went DG at LSU, but from a "Dad's" perspective.
kinda, sorta.......... |
BamaDad DZ,
Kristen made the best choice...hanging out with her new sisters. If that is her first Bama game, I thinks she probably just wanted to soak up the atmosphere and not worry about a date. Plenty of games left for football dates. I have fond memories of the LSU/Bama games! Football frenzy at its finest! |
David,
I also love it that your daughter is/was a rower, since I went to a big time rowing HS and rowing still holds a special place for me in my heart! |
Actually, both my daughters row. My DZ daughter Kristen was recruited by ACC, SEC, and other conference schools. She will try out for Alabama's brand new varsity program and see how it goes. As recently as one month ago she received a call from the coach at Loyola Marymount University in southern California. My youngest rows lightweight and won the top cox job as a high school freshman last year. She coxed her varsity boat to a 13th place finish out of about 60 boats at the Stotesbury regatta last year. You talk about a cutie! She is playing field hockey right now (like her older sister) and hopes to do a little bit of everything when she hits college. Right now her two favorite schools are Florida State and Ole Miss.
|
Awww, I rowed in college, too! I was a walk-on cox at a pretty good rowing school. It was a great experience, but I felt like Division I athletics wasn't what I was looking for at the time.
|
i'm a coxswain at a compeitive DIII school and i looooove it!
we are in the process of recruitment for new rowers this week for our novice team. yay rowing! |
BamaDad,
I just sent you a PM, but I think your daughter (from all the "clues" I am getting here) is the pretty blond gal I wrote a DZ rec for over the summer. My friends are all sending her congrats notes and I have a package on the way -- could she be the same one? I met up with her at the Crosspointe Starbucks :) |
Hey UCFPNM what is your quote from?
|
Hey everybody! The "the pretty blond girl" that imadeltaz wrote a recommendation letter for is in fact my daughter! Kristen got your wonderful package - a dozen beautiful pink roses that knocked out everybody in the DZ house! What a class act the DZs are. Thank you from a very pleased DZ Dad.....Kristen is definitely planning on another round at Starbucks during the Thanksgiving Day break. She was so excited to get your gift. By the way, she apparently only got 4 hours of sleep last night. Must have been doing a lot of studying (?) with her DZ sisters last night. Do you think so?
|
She was *definitely* studying.:D

BamaDad DZ, I have to tell you about one of my absolute favorite DZ's: my first "real" job out of college was a political job, and the only other woman was a beautiful, blonde woman, a bit older than I, and within five minutes, we discovered that we were both "sorority girls", Maura being a DZ. She had the same wild sense of humor that I have, and it made a demanding job much easier to handle! Eventually we were joined by a third woman, another ADPi, and with Maura being blonde, Mary Rose being a brunette, and me being a redhead, we were dubbed "Charlie's Angels"!
We lost touch, to my chagrin, but as much as I worship the ground KillarneyRose walks on ;) Maura will always be my favorite DZ. If she & KR are any indication of the typical DZ, Kristin is in very fine company, indeed! |
k i wanna see a picture of that pledge class! wow.. 80 some girls... thats like an entire house up here at some schools!
