Some groups may have rules that pictures can't be posted on websites without permission of the women in them (we do).

From the little I can see, those houses are amazing (particularly Theta and AGD)!

All the houses are amazing! Here's a link that has pictures of almost all of them -

Here's a question -

Quite a few of the groups have white dresses on. I'm assuming the New Member pinning is on Bid Night? How do these PNMs know to wear the white? Obviously ADPi had white, but I know Chi O does not require it. If you preffed both, how do you know what to wear? Or do they let you go home and change?

I was thinking the same thing...maybe those were members waiting for the new recruits!

I loved the THEMES for bid day!! We didn't do that...we just made welcome posters, etc., but that is so very cool!!

And the pictures of all the chapters!! Wow...what beautiful homes...both the sororities and the fraternity houses!!

kathy, i believe the bid cards say to wear a white dress (or other instructions). there is a period of time in between when bids are handed out and the bid day activities start at the houses so they have time to get what they need. i have another chi o pic that i didn't post and their new girls are also in white.

bamauga 08-21-2006 01:42 AM

how they know what to wear

My daughter is in a sorority at UGA. When the new members get their bids in the afternoon, the envelope contains instructions for what to wear and what time to be at the sorority house a few hours later. I went over to UGA a couple of years ago for what we called Squeal Day at Alabama, and the new members were the only ones in the student center to receive their bid invitations--except for a few random moms and grandmothers who had obviously pledged at another school!

So you don't get to go right to your new house?!? Ugh, I would hate that. After all the stress of the week it seems a bit anti-climactic. Though, I guess if you hated your bid, you'd have time to compose yourself.

Intersting about the Chi Os in white as it is not required for our New Member pinning - unless things have changed, but I don't think so. Maybe just a tradition at that chapter.

The instructions probably just tell everyone to wear white since the majority of the sororities do and saying "except Chi O" might make people think "hmm, why don't they do what everyone else does?"

Speechpath 08-22-2006 10:12 AM

Most chapters at UGA used to do white for bid day, granted things may have changed since I was there. But previous posters are correct about the bid cards, they instruct you when to be at the house and what you need to wear. I think it's just a few hours difference though b/w the time you get your bid and you have to be at the house. I remember the mad dash to get ready before all the sisters arrived at the dorms to shuttle folks to the house.

LoveMyKeyKKG 08-22-2006 02:22 PM

It wouldn't really work at Georgia to have Bid Day immediately where they open their bids and run screaming to the houses.

If you know the campus and its relation to Milledge Ave. where most of the houses are, it would be pretty funny watching the girls get their bids at Tate and then hoofing it up Baxter hill! :D (would be pretty easy for the Lumpkin houses though!)

xo_kathy 08-22-2006 02:48 PM

We didn't run to our houses, we had girls waiting at the location to drive us back to the house. Though I guess the pledge classes are too big for that at UGA - the traffic would be horrible, I'm sure!

KTCHIO 08-23-2006 12:39 AM

Just want to give a shoutout to my friend's little sister who is in the Theta picture!!!! She was soooo super excited to get a bid!!! Shes going to be a great asset to their chapter!!!!

carnation 08-23-2006 06:43 AM

My daughter, a Chi O alum, passed the Chi O house where they were out there with the mariachi band and said that the pledges' shirts read "Juan in a Million"! LOL!
