Tennessee Rush
 

I leave for Knoxville in the morning and will move in tomorrow nigt at 6! I've been a reading of GC Chat all summer and now I can't wait to start my own rush thread. Rush starts on Saturday and I am sooooo excited!!! I'm not going to name the sororities until there is a more managable number (hopefully well into the week haha) If I have the time I'll update as much as possible becuase I love reading the other rush threads as well. (Rush threads and rush sounds like an idea for a new day time soap haha!) :) :)

Thanks so much, it took me awhile to get my internet set up but I just got done with 13 parties and am exausted!! I'm going tomorrow to get my invitations back and I'll post asap. It was definitly not as stressful as I thought it was going to be and I'm having a great time (so far) I'll talk to yall soon!

Ok I just got my invitations back a few minutes ago!
I got invited back to 12 of 13 and so I cut two. I guess it's time to name them haha with planet names! haha

Pluto- I really liked them but I thoughy I was going to
Neptune- Liked them but didn't really get a chance to learn a bunch
Uranus- Don't see myself here at all but couldn't cut them
Saturn- REALLY liked probably one of my favorites but I didn't think going in I would really like them
Jupiter- Didn't know anything about them going in but I really liked them
mars- don't really see myself here
Earth- they're good
Venus- good too
mercury- really good
Sun- fine

I'm trying to figure out which ones I could really see myself at but I really like alot of them. I'm alot less nervous now and it's all turning out really good so far. Thanks for all the support!!

Congratulations! We've all been so excited by the Bamathreads that some of us might have missed yours. Please come back and tell us more!

What's the schedule for the rest of recruitment? Is it really true that some of the sororities are getting houses and moving out of the Panhellenic building?

Whenever I've talked to a UT Zeta, the whole panhellenic building thing has struck me as particularly weird. It does seem to work there, though. Greek life seems strong at Tennessee.

Now if they could only do something about their unfortunate school color. We have to drive through Knoxville quite often, and all that orange makes me feel like I should slow down for road construction. (Just kidding)

Okay.....Well orange is the greatest color in the world. No other schools have it so when you see the certain shade of bright orange you think of the great vols haha. you gotta love it. Panhellenic seems really strong here because they all meet in the same building for meetings and all (well alot of them) live on different floors in the same dorm so they all seem really close with other sororities not as much competition as some other SEC schools. But they are in the first stages of getting approval for houses and they are trying to put them in a groupd together but they're just isn't alot of space around here. I'm loving UT and rush!! Today I visted:

uranus- liked them alot better today but can't see myself here as much as some of them
saturn-really like them still!!! alot
earth- liked them alot today
venus- really like them
sun- not really for me, i think they're gonna cut me cause i was bored here...really just tired

tomorrow is pluto, neptune, jupiter, mars, and mercury then cuts come on wednesday. i'm expecting big cuts this next round cause i had alot of recs so that may be the only reason they asked me back..iduno.

I have to agree with you about the orange! Having gone to Syracuse you learn to love the color and after four years you find that you own alot of orange t-shirts.

Yes I went from Illinois (orange and blue) to Oklahoma State (orange and black). Orange is simply the best collegiate color!

Your colors could be worse than orange. We called our university colors "plaid", since we had no set colors but we did have an official tartan.

No, you go and meet your gamma chi one on one at her booth and she tells you and we started classes today so some of them had class and some went and had meeting times during their lunches I guess...still waiting...that's the onyl thing I don't like about rush the waiting....

UT Rush & Orange
 

As a recent UT grad ('05) I have to say that UT orange is like no-other and you will end up owning more orange than any other color.

Also - UT Rush is different with the gamma chi groups and finding out at different times. Like someone said earlier, it only takes 1. You've gotten through the hard part. From here on out, it's more one-on-one conversation and getting to know each other better. I wish you the best of luck. If you want info on specifics at UT, just PM me. I still remember rush and kinda of miss it now that it's over.

OK I got my invitations back today and only got abck 5 of ten BUT we could only get back a total of 6 for next round. And I really like 3 of the 5 and the other 2 are okay too. So still in the runnings are:

Pluto- Really love and feel like i've gotten along well with a couple of the girls
Neptune- very cute girls, like them too alot
Saturn- i know i should get my hopes up too much ut i really like them alot but it could change
Jupiter- on't know if i fit here, i was suprised they invited me back
Sun- Probably my least favorite right now but still a really great group
