Rush starts in ONE week!! im so excited, yet quite nervous. but that is normal from what i have read here. my school has 8 panhellenic sororites, so just so i dont name names,i'll name them after disney princesses:
1)Ariel
2)Snow White
3)Cinderella
4)Belle
5)Aurora
6)Jasmine
7)Pocahontas
8)Tinkerbell (who isnt really a princess, but i couldnt think of anymore!)


ive got all my outfits picked out except for my pref day dress. i decided the one i was going to wear is too plain and i want to stand out, so ill be shopping for that in a few days! so this post will be the start to my "recruitment process", so hopefully i can end it in a happy decision! i also wanted to thank everyone who has helped me so far here on GC. all your advice has been fantastic and truly taken to heart!

Hey, I just thought of another great reason to join a USF chapter: Your sisters will be there to support you when UCF destroys your football team next month!!! :p School rivalry aside, you can't go wrong by joining a chapter on either side of I-4! I'm rooting for you (just not your sports team!)!!

LOL... when and IF i go to the UCF vs.USF game, i will think of you adpiucf!! :)

ADPIUCF You think you have it hard, Try being an alum of both USF and UCF> I was at the USF V UCF Game last year and as I remember correctly USF Stomped on UCF. Didnt make my Husband too happy seeing as he is a UCF Alum and I drug him to USF for the game and made him sit in the USF Student section!

Good luck from a USF grad (Class of 1980) whose daughter is rushing at Bama this week. I miss Tampa! The school changed so much since I left that I had to pick up a campus map on my visit last year in 2005. Go Bulls!

just putting the finishing touches on my hair and make up then its off to orientation..ill update when i return!!

ok so i got back from orientation about 20 minutes ago and i coudlnt stop smiling :) we split into our pi chi groups and went over everything. im also happy to say that one of the sororities that i didnt think i had a high enough GPA to join, is lower now (maybe there was a typo in the last thing i read??) so that is happy news! my pi chi's are so funny and sweet, i can tell were gonna have a good time this week. so tomorrow im visiting all 8 sororities in 35 minute intervals so ive got to make a really good impression so i can get as many invites as possible. soo..

1)be myself
2)ask questions
3)dont stop smiling!
4)dont be shy be upbeat (which isnt too hard for me :p lol)

i cant wait to learn about the philanthropies and why the girls chose the sorority they are in.

anything im forgetting?

Good luck! I am a USF alum but, darn it, they never let me rush the sororities. I miss Tampa, the Ybor City restaurants (like the Columbia)....

i also changed my outfit tomorrow for a specific reason. since tomrorow is spirit day, i am going to wear one of my school shirts. my boyfriend suggested wearing this one shirt that is a usf club, and since its kind of a rare club shirt i thought it would be a unique thing to talk about and also make me stand out a bit. but then i realized the new prez of this club is in "Ariel", and i know her from the club a little bit. so i thought maybe that would make me look like i was trying to get her attention and perhaps the other GLO's would take that as "ive already decided on Ariel". so i switched to another school shirt, which isnt as unique, but still, i think wearing something that says that i am, and have been, involved on campus is better than wearing a regular american eagle shirt or soemthing. right? lol

Glad you had a great orientation and first day of recruitment! Can you tell us who your Pi Chis are? (I understand if you don't want to, for anonymity)

No, unfortunately not. I joined Tau Epsilon Rho Law Fraternity while in law school later. But I dated a nice Little Sister from Lambda Chi Alpha. Yowee!

today was the first round of parties! i was so surprised how little nervous i was. i was so excited to be there!! my pi chi's are such great girls, they made little nametags for our bags and were attentive to every need we had! i made a few friends in my pi chi group as well.

--the first party was "Tinkerbell" and while all the girls were welcoming i just didnt feel like i fit in at all.

--next up was "Aurora". and while i was enjoying their company, the majority of the girls i talked to didnt seem like they were into it that much. there was also another thing that i think hindered my experience but i think that will make me or this house obvious for girls to guess.

--third party was "Pocahontas" and i felt really comfortable with this house. i felt at ease and all the girls were more my type than the first two. i could possibly see myself there..

--fourth party was "Ariel" and i loved this house! the girls were so dedicated and i could tell they really worked hard and cared alot about it and the philanthropy. i felt comfortable and i got along with all the girls really well. i could see myself here as a sister.

--fifth party was "Cinderella" and i felt a little awkward going in, but quickly loosened up and enjoyed my visit. the girls i talked to were very passionate about their philanthropy and i liked that. i am hoping i warm up to them some more in the coming day(s).

--sixth party was "Belle" and as of right now they are my absolute favorite house. i felt very at ease there and i felt like i fit in well. the girls were very sweet and they shared some good stories with me. i could definitly see myself here as a sister.

--seventh party was "Jasmine" and i enjoyed myself at this house as well. i got along with the girls very well and felt very comfortable here. they were very down to earth and it was so much fun going over their scrapbook and hearing some crazy stories from their past events.

and last but not least.. "Snow White". i had amazing convo's with all the girls i talked to. i really hit it off with the first sister, we had like 4 major things in common so it was really fun talking to her! most likely i could see myself here as well.

so at the end of the parties, we had to narrow the sororities from 8 to 6. so i ranked as follows:

1 Belle
1 Ariel
1 Jasmine
2 Snow White
3 Cinderella
3 Pocahontas

..and i dropped..
Tinkerbell
Aurora

tomorrow we can be invited back to as many as 6 parties..i hope i get that many!!

so hopefully i dont get a scary phone call tonight..or 4 am lol.

Twinkle that is great. I am glad to hear that you are having a great time. I am eager to hear which chapter is which. All of the chapters at USF are great and I know that you will find your home!

day two
 

im back from day two! it was so HOT today..like hotter than yesterday.ok enough about the weather lets get to the good stuff!!

so i got my invites back this morning and i was invited back to:
Belle (yay!!!)
Jasmine (yay!!)
Snow White
Pocahontas
and Tinkerbell (which is strange b/c i dropped them yesterday, so i didnt know u could get ones u dropped back on ur party list..would someone like to explain?)

so i was disappointed i wasnt invited back to Ariel, but im really happy i got my other top 2 (Belle and Jasmine).

first party was Jasmine and i had the best time making their craft. i had really good, flowing convo's with each girl and again i felt really comfortable. love it!!

next was Tinkerbell..and just like yesterday i felt welcome but i just cant imagine being sister here.

next was Snow White and today wasnt as good as yesterday in this house. The first girl was really nice but was really really nervous. she asked the same question 3 times. The second girl was like, shy or something. i asked the majority of the questions! she only asked me like 1 or 2 and then i was pretty much forced to ask b/c there was silence. then the third girl was more attentive and interesting but she seemed distracted.

after lunch i made my way to Pocahontas and had really good conversations here as well.

and finally was Belle and i just love this house. i just feel so comfortable and happy when im here. i got along great with all the girls and even a girl that talked to me yesterday came up and told me how glad she was that i was back :)

so i only had to eliminate one today so i put Tinkerbell again. i really getting excited for the next few days..hopefully soon ill have a place to call home!!!

Because you didn't "drop" them, they just weren't your first choice. Recruitment is a mutual selection process. It means that while you preferred to go back to the houses on the top of your list, some of those houses did not invite you back. Because Tinkerbell did, in order to give you as full a party list as possible, you have to go back to their party. It's Panhels way of helping you maximize your options.

so today it rained..i got wet..bleh :( but the day went on.

so when i got my invite list today i was a bit disapointed to see that i wasnt invited back to Belle. i really liked the girls there and could totally see myself being a sister. i guess it just wasnt meant to be. i did however get my other top 2 houses so that is a blessing :) actually i was invited back to the max amount of parties so i was surprised. here is how it went down today:


first up was Pocahontas and there wasnt anything that spectacular. the girls i talked to today were friendly but nothing much else.

next was Tinkerbell again..and i really dont like this house. i have ranked them last every day so far and i still havent changed my opinon. i just feel weird there.

next was Snow White and it was amazing. it seems the girls were so happy to have me back! i felt really comfy here :)

last but not least was Jasmine and i had good convos here too. i love this house and one of the girls from yesterday was glad to see me back today too. i feel so amazing here! :)

so tomorrow is pref day. im almost done!! im excited. so far my ranking is as follows

1 Jasmine
1 Snow White
2 Pocahontas
3 Tinkerbell

who knows what will happen tomorrow!!
