Tee shirt question (IMPORTANT)

I'm a theta and attempting to order tee shirts in bulk to hand out to freshmen during orientation. I am having trouble finding a web site that will be cheap enough to order many tee shirts within our budget. Any ideas?
Thanks!

AlphaFrog 08-07-2006 11:06 AM

Wouldn't that be a MAJOR rush infraction??

Drolefille 08-07-2006 11:17 AM

Maybe she's not doing it FOR theta? Can't help you on the website. I think you'd do better buying the shirts and taking them someplace local at this point. Unless you have more time for rush than I thought.

Do a search for online greek stores on the forums

JCP1023 08-07-2006 11:22 AM

I'm attempting to do it by the end of the summer...

kddani 08-07-2006 11:22 AM

You're really pushing it, time-wise. It's already August 7th. I would strongly advise you to try somewhere local.

JCP1023 08-07-2006 11:24 AM

No its not a rush infraction because it is for a theta / greek council sponsored event during orientation.

JCP1023 08-07-2006 11:26 AM

Forget when i need it by, (perhaps I could call to allow for a rush order.) Any thoughts on where to go besides the typical Greekgear.com, Greek101.com, Customink.com etc... ?

tunatartare 08-07-2006 11:26 AM

If it's during orientation, see if you can get the school/campus life/first year students office to pay for it. I agree with kddani, you're definitely late in ordering shirts, especially considering that places are busy making recruitment/bid day shirts now. Your best bet is to find a place that's close to your school that you can go to order them and pick them up from in person so that it at least cuts down on shipping time.

Do you have an unlimited budget? None of those places are cheap, and will be ridiculously more expensive for a rush order.

Local will be cheaper and no hassles involving shipping.

AlphaFrog 08-07-2006 11:30 AM

amazon.com you can get a white Hanes t-shirt for $3.50 and then find a local place to screen print.

(Or there's always puffy paint):p

tunatartare 08-07-2006 11:32 AM

Another option would be to see if your school bookstore could give you a bulk quantity discount on t shirts that have your school name on them and then to take them to a place and have a small logo or saying screenprinted on them.

JCP1023 08-07-2006 11:36 AM

I guess I didn't realize how late I am... Now I'm getting worried about Theta Rush. Rush is in the spring for us... when should i start looking into ordering?

tunatartare 08-07-2006 11:38 AM

Depending on if you have a lot of girls in your chapter or not, I would finalize a design by mid to late October and put it in then. This gives enough time for the place to make the screenprint, you to approve the design, and for them to make the shirts, before you go on winter break. You don't want to come back from break with only a few weeks before recruitment starts to find out that they printed your shirts wrong and wrote Thea on them instead of Theta or something like that and you don't have enough time to get them fixed.

Do chapters typically order from online vendors or local vendors? My chapter has always ordered from greekgear.com or customink.com but are we being totally overcharged?

tunatartare 08-07-2006 11:42 AM

If you order anything from greekgear.com, yea you're being overcharged. My personal preference is to order from a local vendor that way you can go there and see the design in person. Also, you can pick it up in person, which saves time and money on shipping costs.

Greekopedia 08-07-2006 02:03 PM

if you have the design already, I should be able to get it to you within two weeks if not less. I would first quote you and we have several options for the shirt material. I would need to know ASAP.

my email is: dennis@onegreekstore.com

local.

ms_gwyn 08-07-2006 06:51 PM

I have been dealing with customink.com on another project, depending on when you need it, they are reasonable and can get your order in about 2 weeks. For the design that I was looking at 3 color front and back, $13 ea. for a min. of 30, full color it would be around $16.50 for a min of 48....

but you may also want to try your local stores as well.

I had to order shirts for a tennis tournament and local was by FAR the best option. Not only was it cheap (5.50$ per shirt for 100 shirts with 3 color printing) we didn't have shipping fees and because they were local they were willing to get them to us within a week. Also if you are going local they might be willing to go cheaper if you let them use their logo on the front or back "printed by..." cause that could help their business.

Personally (no offense Greekopedia) I like to use local businesses when I can. They are often easier to work with because you deal with them face to face and it is also a way to help out your community. Okay off my soapbox :)

jadis96 just gave me an idea. If budget is an issue, see if you can get a local pizza place or diner to donate some money for printing the shirts in exchange for putting their logo on it. You know they will be all over all of the incoming freshman getting a shirt with their name on it when they come to campus.

Best company our chapter has ever worked with...if you stay with them for a while, they really start knocking off prices...we usually got 90-100 shirts for $6 each.
