Hey Mooch, I go to Eastern Michigan University and the Lambda Chis here sing two really great songs during serenading. One is called "Bugaloo" and the other is "Lambda Chis in Hell." I don't have all the words but maybe one of your brother on this site might.

LXA1048 06-11-2001 11:19 AM

There are no lambda chi's down below...down below
there are no lambda chi's down below..down below
Cause they are all up above drinking beer and making love,
there are no lambda chi's down below..down below.

There are no Pi K A's up above...up above

there are no Pi K A'a up above... up above

Cause they are all down below giving he*d to ATO's

There are no Pi K A's up above.

There is one we use around here. Not meant to be derogatory to Pikes and ATO's. Well not really. Maybe a little bit.

Magic Carpet Ride is always a good song to choose!

I heard bugaloo at Leadership Seminar many years ago in Boring Green Oh. The guys from UW-Whitewater were singing it and it was great. Wish I knew all the words. Still remember the melody tho.

we only really have one, not duragitory to anyone else. . it's pretty safe. . and all the sorities on campus know it now too:-)

being the DJ up here in URI's chapter, when the ELC came around i thought i'd attempt a revamp of some of the songs he brought around, cause they didn't quite "connect with the current times" if you get my drift. . good stuff for black and white movies.
speaking of majic carpet ride, the fatboy slim remix is awsome for mixing at parties. . mix drinks, mix guys and girls, mix music. . whalla!

Are you talking about the version from "GO!", or is there another, newer version?

Man, I heard this song originally by Alpha Phi at Northern Colorado WAY back in 1986......we used Rat-sh*t song as a retort.....

LCA_SK481 01-31-2002 08:15 PM

I can post the words to Boogaloo but there is also actions that go alonge w/ it that would be hard to explain (but i will try).

Boogaloo:
One person shouts: Let me see you Boogaloo...
Brothers reply: What's that you say?
Same person shouts: Let me see you Boogaloo...
Brothers reply: What's that you say?
All say: I said Boo-ga-loo, boo-boo-ga-loo

Let me see you...

Role a joint (role hand on elboe)
Find your anus (point to stars)
scratch your balls (scratch eye balls)
stir it up (make stiring motion)
ur-i-nate (point and say your an 8)
show you're nuts (act stupid)
pet your pussy (pet each others head)
boo-boo-ga-loo (Dance)

I know that on lambdachi.org there is a song book. If you follow the collegiate link, then go to manuals, the song book is listed. Some of the songs are good, and some, well they're from the olden days and aren't so good. Hope this gives you a start.

Pat_BN557 11-19-2002 01:22 AM

ok, digging up an old thread here, but it has useful content for what I'm searching for.....

anyways, one song in particular

it starts out as

Well, when i was very young;
they found diamonds in my dung;
and they shipped me off to this fraternity.

so come all ye lazy bastards

and I can't remember any more.... only ever heard/sang to it with a beer in my hand, that could be the problem

anyways, any help with this or other songs would be much appreciated

Billy, I found this one really funny because my Dad was a Pike and Chris Tkacik was an ATO. (For all you non PhiDeltas, Chris Tkacik is our head of judicial affairs who we've had a love hate relationship with over the years)

Even though we never had Pikes and we lost our ATO chapter a while back, I think we could substitute Pi Kappa Phi and ZBT (or SAE).

But if you are typing in Earp Speak, Brother Jono and I both got it and understood it! He was at My Founders Day this weekend and WE Like it to!

heres a song that none of know where it originalted all we know is that drives the other fraternities crazy.

what we do is line up in rows on bid day and our president leads us off. (if you dont yell it or say it with meaning then it sounds stupid). As we are going to our designated spot we literally cut through every chapter (so the rows have to be tight)

YELLOW BIRD

president: YELLOW BIRD WITH A YELLOW BILL!
brothers:repeat
p: SITTING ON MY WINDOW SILL!
b: repeat
p:LURED HIM WITH A PEICE OF BREAD!
b: repeat
p: THEN I SMASHED HIS FUCKING HEAD!
b: repeat
p: MORAL OF THE STORY BE !
b: repeat
p: (fill in any fraternity name) NO FRATERNITY CAN FUCK WITH ME!
b: repeat.

then we get all riled up and go right into Were All Good Brothers.

if said right with the right emotion, everyone stops because we are the loudest thing out there.

jodyj1442 04-24-2003 12:36 AM

I found one online a couple weeks ago, though it's more of a chant:

We are the men of Lambda Chi
Cross and Crescent, spirits high
purple green and gold are we
number one fraternity
when I say Lambda, you say Chi
Lambda (Chi)
Lambda (Chi)
When I say number, you say one
Number (one)
Number (one)
Lambda Chi is number one!

Hope it helps

SniffDNZ098 04-24-2003 03:30 PM

jody would that be a good chant or cheer before our football games start? Please let me know..Thanks

jodyj1442 04-24-2003 07:59 PM

Yeah, that'd be great for IM games. We usually don't get much opportunity to use our songs/chants other than on our Passover/Bid Night.

john1082 05-04-2003 07:25 PM

Songs? Every night after dinner

Every night after dinner.....

We're all good brothers,
Each one the other's friend
And we'll be good brothers
Until the very end
So while we're together,
Let's raise a rousing cheer
For
Lambda
Chi
Alpha
The bond we hold so dear
Let's give a hip hip hooray
For dear old Lambda Chi
Let's give a hip, hip horay
And raise it to the sky
We'll make the rafters ring
When all the brothers sing
About the Cross and the Crescents
It's the Greatest Thing
We'll shout it loud and strong
We'll shout it all day long
Because we want the world to know
We stand together now
We stand to win and how
For dear old
Lambda Chi
HEY

then with the last word, pound on the table

We use this down here at Beta Nu (Florida Tech). Its great to get all the guys together. We all huddle up and chant it as loud as possible. It really gets my heart going and I love it almost as much as i love Lambda Chi.

Zach,

Welcome to GC!! I was down last Nov. and was the speaker last Founders Day after Chuck Pyser.

Still remember the Schroom with fond memories!!

In ZAX,

BN635 07-03-2003 05:28 PM

Tom-
I do have fond memories of the shroom but unfortunately I wasnt around in the fall during fouders weekend. I was associated in spring and am the last of our new initiates. There are 6 new BN at Florida Tech now and every one of them is a good man that will help our chapter grow along with the guidance of our older brothers. It's good to see the inter-zeta interaction and was suprised when I saw that you were down in founder's day. Are you going to be there again? I am sure that if you had as good a time as you made out that you will have just as good if not a better time and you will be welcome by our whole chapter.

Jono-
It's good to see that our alumni are still involved in the fraternity and especially an older brother like yourself. In case you are wondering, if we initiate 6 good men in the fall you will end up with a 6th century brother (definately a reason to visit).

Tom Earp 07-03-2003 10:07 PM

Zach, I will let Jono tell you the story of why I was down as He tells it much better! Well, I do actually!!! :D

I wish I could as was fun being picked up in Orlando by 3 Crazy Alums that I had never met!

Esp. On, Don Wolf!! (Wolfie) to me!

We get to Melborne and he asks me what Road to turn on tho to get to the Shroom! Wolfie, I have never been here in my Friggin Life and you aske ME!

God, what great stories! Get with Jono and ask about my first time meeting him, Mouse (Dan M), K. Gilmore (Happy) to me. Could go on but this is wrong thread!!!!!!

Welcome to The BrotherHood!

Has anyone ever heard of a song thats called ruby red or something? At the recent outdoor leadership thing we heard that it is fairly popular.

DeLong990 08-18-2003 08:35 AM

I'm a Lambda Chi

Here is a song we sing, called I'm a Lambda Chi
we yell the parts that are in all caps

I'm a Lambda Chi a hell of a guy and here's a toast to you
To hell with all the sigma chi's and all the phi sigs too
TO HELL WITH PIKES THEY'RE BONERS
and sigma alpha mu
and if ur not a Lambda Chi
to hell to hell with you

Adam was the first man to ever wear the pin
Solomon was the wisest we ever did let in
Sampson was the strongest but he developed the itch
If Ceaser were alive today we'd pin the son of a bitch

I'm a Lambda Chi a hell of a guy and here's a toast to you
To hell with all the sigma chi's and all the phi sigs too
TO HELL WITH PIKES THEY'RE BONERS
and sigma alpha mu
and if ur not a Lambda Chi
to hell to hell with you

Jesse James he wore the pin of dear old Lambda Chi
He rode into the town one night his need to satisfy
he pinched a squirly maiden and much to his surprise
there stood a blushing member of teh delta sigma phi

I'm a Lambda Chi a hell of a guy and here's a toast to you
To hell with all the sigma chi's and all the phi sigs too
TO HELL WITH PIKES THEY'RE BONERS
and sigma alpha mu
and if ur not a Lambda Chi
to hell to hell with you

Actually, I think it's called the "Sweetheart of Lambda Chi", and I'll TRY to recall the lyrics...but the ruby red refers to her lips.

She has two lips of ruby red,
A smile beyond compare,
She has blue eyes to tease you,
and a wealth of golden hair...

I forget the rest of the lyrics, but it ends (here in Colorado with)...

..she's my LXA sweetheart,
my Colorado Rose.

Does anyone know of any recordings of other songs from our songbook? I play drums so I can read the rythms from the songbook, but not the notes.

ZAX,

When we were posting the songs we looked to see if we could find any of the other "traditional songs".... but it looks like no one has recorded any of them (and having heard some it's probibly a good idea :) ).

The actual songs were converted from a CD that an ELC brought up here to Toronto on his visit; I pretty sure it was Peter Newhouse.

"lead us a-right for aye"

Thanks!

ZAX,

BN 281

"Tll mid the battle's din"

That basically means when the sh*t hits the fan, or when the going gets tough.... so no matter the trials we are there for each other.

"lead us a-right for aye"

This means guide us right, sir.... this is an older terminiology which means as I stated: "put us the right path, sir (or other honorific).

That is from the RPI chapter. We sang it when we gave out new bids to the rushees.

I think our chapter has a book of songs somewhere that we found a while ago.

re: Spirit C&C High

The song with "Spirit C&C High" has been used at Georgetown
(Kappa-Omega) as well...my guess is, where ever it originated,
it must have made it into a national song book at some time.

What about Kenney Chesney's "Keg in the Closet"? That's about Lambda Chi.

ZetaPhi708 01-28-2005 12:41 AM

i have a song here...

used to sing it a lot...but I don't know if the active chapter still sings it...( no offense if there are women present on this board )

When you are with your favorite sweetheart,
Under the moonlight's glow,
Put one hand upon her busom,
And the other down below,

When she starts to scream and holler,
And she asks you why, ( Oh, Why < in a high falsetto > )
Tell it's the secret handshake
of Dear Old Lambda Chi....
