Auburn Pre-Recruitment

Auburn pre-recruitment officially started yesterday, August 1. Can't believe it's already here!

AUDeltaGam 08-02-2006 07:37 AM

Good Luck to the AU sororities! My chapter is starting their pre-recruitment tomorrow! :)

PhoenixAzul 08-02-2006 08:08 AM

It blows my mind that not only are you guys starting recruitment allready but you're going back to school soon! I don't move back to OC til Sept. 9 and classes dont start till the 11, and recruitment starts in January!

Good luck girls, please stay hydrated...been hearing nothing but 3 digit temperatures for most of the country this week.

AUAZD2001 08-02-2006 11:19 AM

Today's forecast for today's high is 92. Not too bad for Auburn in August.

The High'd Forcast for Recruitment Week are:

Today 92 Pre Recruitment
Thursday 96 Pre Recruitment/Dorm Move-in
Friday 95 Pre Recruitment
Saturday 91 Pre Recruitment
Sunday 92 Pre Recruitment
Monday 96 Ice Water Teas
Tuesday 97 Ice Water Teas
Wednesday 96 Philanthropy
Thursday 93 Philanthropy
Friday 92 Skit
Saturday Preference
Sunday Bid Day

AUAZD2001 08-02-2006 12:11 PM

During recruitment in 2004 we had some freak weather. We woke up on the morning of Skit Day (August 14) and the temperature was 57.2! I had to wear a sweatshirt to the dorm! Also that year, we had to deal with outer bands of rain and wind from both Hurricane Bonnie AND Hurricane Charlie. There was major flooding on Auburn's campus which inclusded several chapter rooms and Parker Hall where Auburn's web server is housed (in the basement of the lowest building on campus- go figure!). The entire university website was down for several critical hours when panhellenic was trying to generate invitation lists.

carnation 08-02-2006 12:41 PM

Hey, back in the day, the rush computer ALWAYS broke down. It did at every school, I hear--but the year I was rushing, our RC had to wake us up at 3 AM with our invitations.

Seems like yesterday we were staggering from dorm to dorm in the Auburn heat...

Haha, I SO remember that! Remember parties being cancelled for like 6 hours during Philanthropy Day?!

AGDLynn 08-02-2006 08:39 PM

Yea, I got called to confirm a rec that I filled out but forgot to sign. The caller left her number but gave me the wrong area code. Thank goodness for caller ID,;)

I wondered because she said today was the last day..

I adored that day. Because we all went upstairs to the hall and visited and ate food and watched movies. And a lot of girls took naps. I got to visit with some alumnae who were there whom I hadn't seen in a few years. It was quite lovely. I almost hope something like that happens again this year... Just Kidding.

shinerbock 08-05-2006 01:22 AM

Hurricane Ivan week was one of my favorite Auburn memories.

Haha, the only time school was ever cancelled during my 4 years there :D

carnation 08-05-2006 01:12 PM

A huge tornado went over Funchess while I was in class there and nobody notified the folks in the building 'til it was all over. We just thought it was a bad storm. :(

Today is move-in day for the PNMs! I'm glad I'm not there! But I wish I could be there for prefs and Bid Day....

AGDLynn 08-05-2006 09:54 PM

I wish I could be there for the Auburn Alpha Gam Bid Day! ;)

ADPi Conniebama 08-05-2006 10:13 PM

Hey I know all of the collegiates will be BUSY!!! But I would love to hear about how recrutment is going at Auburn . . . It is like the "kick off" for Southern recruitment. It always seems to me that if Auburn has a good recruitment then it is all down hill from there.

So, if any alumnae that are working with a sorority (not just ADPi, all of the sororities are strong) is a greekchat computer nerd, or a collegiate with "all of that extra time you will have" ha ha - can keep us updated maybe on this thread. Just a thought.

YALL HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

carnation 08-05-2006 11:01 PM

I swear that if any of the local girls go Pi Phi at AU, I'll be there for initiation!

shinerbock 08-06-2006 02:39 AM

I love some AU pi phi. WAR EAGLE

AUAZD2001 08-06-2006 06:51 PM

To update you on Auburn Recruitment, I arrived in town at about 12:30 this afternoon. I've been driving around town this afternoon (good grief how things have changed in the last 365 days!) and I'm sitting in Panera Bread right now typing away. In about 10 minutes the PNMs have their optional first meeting with their Pi Chi groups. How exciting. Recruitment is almost here! I can't wait for tomorrow.

AUDeltaGam 08-06-2006 07:30 PM

I should be able to be at part of Bid Day! How exciting :D

Good luck to all the girls going through Recruitment!

TigerOwl 08-06-2006 09:40 PM

As of Friday, 1,181 PNM's had registered for recruitment.

AGDLynn 08-06-2006 10:41 PM

That's almost double all the sorority members at West Georgia all together! Or..maybe ALL the Greeks!

AnchorAlumna 08-09-2006 01:37 PM

Any updates on how Auburn's recruitment is going?

There are 16 sororities at AU, so if all PNMs continue through to prefs, quota there could be as high as 70-75! How high is it usually?

Low to mid 60s.

ETA- but I think we lose about 200ish PNMs through the week

AU_ZTA86 08-10-2006 07:33 PM

Good luck to all PNMs! I wish you all to find the best panhellenic home for you and to LOVE your AU experience as much as I did!!

Alum helping Gamma Phi chapter at AU

Helped our Gamma Phi chapter at Auburn today for last day of Philanthropy round. All rushees looked great in their yellow panhel tees - bright and sunny girls to match the bright and sunny weather! Our chapter is having an awesome rush so far - 87% return rate if I remember correctly:) Tomorrow is skit day.

ADPi Conniebama 08-12-2006 04:22 PM

Anyone else know anything? I know we are hearing from the Carnation nation but I would like to know how the days are going or whatever -

ADPi Conniebama 08-13-2006 02:08 PM

OK IT IS 1:00 at Auburn right now. I really hope that all of the pnm's at Auburn are delighted that the phone didn't ring this morning.

SOME ONE TELL US HOW EVERYTHING WENT!!!

I hope everyone accepts their bids though....nonetheless I am happy for my Auburn sisters!!!!:D

Congrats Gamma Phi!!!!!!!!!!! Waiting on pins and needles until they post the list online...

ADPi Conniebama 08-13-2006 04:31 PM

That is great to hear - Early news is usually good news - for the sororities I mean.

TigerOwl 08-13-2006 05:48 PM

Auburn 2006 Recruitment

I am sooooo excited! All four that I wrote letters of recommendation have received bids!

1---Alpha Chi Omega
1---Alpha Delta Pi
2---Chi Omega

Thrilled to say the least!!!

2 were instate PNM's and 2 were out of state PNM's

AGDee 08-13-2006 05:55 PM

I was keeping quiet out of respect for the PNM and her mother, but our International President's daughter is a now a New Member of Alpha Gamma Delta at Gamma Delta chapter (Auburn)! Talk about pressure on all sides!

Congratulations to Jackie and her daughter.

I posted this in carnation's thread, but here it is again:

Munchkin03 08-13-2006 06:57 PM

Why would some houses get to have quota additions? Is it because they lost more seniors at graduation and needed to make those numbers up?

FSUZeta 08-13-2006 08:07 PM

no-it is more often to accomodate the pnms.

for instance, xyz chapter might have filled its quota before all the pnms names were called out, and the remaining pnms did not match to any other group, had xyz as their first choice and did not single intentional preference, so xyz was allowed to take a percentage of their quota in additions.

anyone who can explain it better, or correct me if i am wrong, please feel free to jump in.

quota additions are a good thing!! :-)

GPhiBLtColonel 08-13-2006 09:33 PM

I was finally able to access the list (for some reason it would not display on my computer till now) and one of the 6 girls I wrote a rec for went Gamma Phi - wahoo!! I am so happy excited:D

ADPi Conniebama 08-13-2006 10:20 PM

COOL FOR AGD and their new member - I just love legacies

I'm having trouble with that, too. I was assuming that there's TONS of traffic, and that's the reason.

What was the drop out/no bid rate?

Congratulations to all the Newbies!!

GPhiBLtColonel 08-14-2006 12:09 AM

According to what I heard - and don't quote me on this - 100% of the girls who attended Prefs were matched...whether or not they accepted their bid is another question though!
