Delta Iota chapter house

To reply to AnchorAlumna but in a better thread:

I haven't heard anything particular about the inside being changed except that the triplet rooms facing Millegde will have window seats with storage beneath them (how neat!). However, I know a certain Anchorman who reports (cannot say how he knows!) that the foyer is changed: the ceiling has been lifted and there are white columns are on the inside as well as the two supporting the balcony outside. I think I can imagine what it will look like - but I will definately report back on Wednesday - move in day!

If everything goes well, it should be finished by recruitment, though it definately won't be finished by move-in day. Actually some girls will be homeless for the first few days of work week (I know they are all being found beds or soft floors though!). If everything doesn't go well, the powers that be are planning on hanging bright banners over anything that's not finished and posting huge pictures of the projected finished plans everywhere. Finished house or not, we are going to have an amazing recruitment!

I'm so excited about the new house!!! Please post some photos!!!

notyouraverage 08-02-2006 03:24 PM

did you see the ones in the Roses, Buds and Thorns thread? maybe I should move them here too! I'm supposed to be studying for my math final right now but I just had to update on how fabulous the interior looks!

The second floor study room has been... enlarged. Imagine that part that is below the balcony, it's new space in the study room! It's so sunny and airy and light! I LOVE it! There are some smallish columns in there too, as well as the third floor... (what IS that room? Officer room? Guest room?) room. Plus, the third floow room has french doors that lead to the balcony. And, they painted the DG letters on the blaconly gold. It looks fantastic.
I can't believe I forgot to check out the foyer while I was there though! I guess I was too excited about seeing everyone. Oh! and the three girl rooms! Oh my gosh! I thought they were going to be window seats, and they look just like them, without the window! I need to take my digital camera when I go back tonight! You will be blown away, I know I am. :D

I can't wait to see! I remember when the study room was a gym... ah, I feel old. :)

And I'm feeling ancient! When I was there the 2nd floor room over the foyer was the president's room and the 3rd floor room was supposed to be the study but we had two girls living in there for a while since the house was so full.

Can't wait to get an update when it is finished!

JohnsDGsweethrt 08-13-2006 08:48 AM

Can someone post some pictures? The Delta Iota house is the only DG house I've ever been in! And I was there before the awesome renovations w/ the gold and red stuff. It was the spring before they were to do the rennovations. it looks so awesome now. i have seen pics on the website. please share the updates!

notyouraverage 08-15-2006 09:52 PM

I promise, promise, promise I will take some pics of the house tomorrow. It is looking fantastic, btw, even though the front didn't get finished before recruitment. It gave us easy lawn conversation. So many of the girls I talked to absolutely loved the house! The front is nearly finished with limestone. The other three sides were painted a similar white with future plans to add limestone. It looks fantastic! The foyer has two new huge windows which make it so much brighter, :) I love it! The before pic was posted in the house along with the plans and the difference is amazing.
And the study room!! So much bigger! And has two huge windows now plus blocks of tiny windows in the circular part that's below the third floor balcony. I love all the light! It was painted a nice green that's not too dark but still goes well with the red and gold that JohnsDG mentioned. Have I mentioned that I love it? We're all so grateful to the alums who worked so hard to get it for us.
Bid day is tomorrow and we haven't heard about our numbers yet (though our pref return rate was soaring!). We're all very optimistic. Quota is sixty and might be a little more than we can handle, but I think we'll be pretty much thrilled with whatever number we get. All of our fabulous helpers have told us how far we've come since last year. Okay, I am definately starting to ramble since I'm not even talking about the house any more. Hopefully I'll upload pictures tomorrow with news about our new girls!!

Pictures

I have pictures of the house, but cannot get them to load in this. If someone can load them, I will send them to you.

I don't know why they won't insert.

WhiteDaisy128 08-16-2006 08:51 PM

You have to upload them to a webpage first...like www.photobucket.com

Then right click on the picture, click properties...copy that URL (the URL to the picture) and try to post it using that.

If they are already on a page and you are having trouble linking them, PM me the page and I'll try to help out.

ImaDeeGee 08-18-2006 10:01 AM

ADDG,

You can send them to me if you want. I'd be more than happy to set them up so all of us eager DG's can see the pictures!!

ImaDeeGee 08-20-2006 08:21 AM

I love our letters in the balcony railing at the top!

ETA: Editted because I had originally thought our letters were in the glass panes. LOL Regardless, DG looks so good on that fabulous house!!

AUDeltaGam 08-20-2006 10:36 AM

Beautiful!!

OleMissGlitter 08-20-2006 12:29 PM

oh it's so gorgeous!

AnchorAlumna 08-20-2006 03:39 PM

Thank you, thank you for the pix - the transformation is just stunning! Dare I ask for interior pictures sometime soon??:o

This is the third floor "officer's room" - basically EVC camped out in it during recruitment. Last year we had beds in it; I'm not sure what will go in it this year, but I vote for exercise equipment! Anyone know why they got rid of the old exercise stuff?

This is another shot of the third floor room - the balcony!

This is the foyer. It looks so much tidier now then it did when the pic was taken! But it gives you an idea of the new windows and columns.

This is one of the window seats in the third floor three girl rooms. No windows yet, but they will be amazing when they get them!

More to come!

The old exercise equipment was well-loved and thus did not work very well, so most of us went to Ramsey instead of using the stuff in the house. I think getting some nice equipment for the DI chapter house would be a great investment!!!

AnchorAlumna 08-20-2006 11:49 PM

Thanks so much, Notyouraverage! I LOVE the new foyer! That really badly needed to be opened up. Now maybe the front door will be the preferred door. It's really beautiful. Did ya'll keep the second floor kitchen (can't remember if there was a 3rd floor kitchen too)?

JohnsDGsweethrt 08-21-2006 07:02 PM

Wow that looks awesome!

notyouraverage 08-22-2006 10:38 AM

Third floor windows went in yesterday! They look amazing and my sisters in those rooms are SO excited! We have a small kitchen on the third floor and mailboxes on the second floor. The foyer is probably my favorite part of the renovations; I can't wait until all the work in front is finished. :) We are such a lucky chapter to have such amazing alums!

ImaDeeGee 08-22-2006 11:14 AM

The house is absolutely gorgeous!! I think the foyer is my favorite part as well. It looks so open and welcoming.

You are some very lucky ladies!!

UGATammy 08-24-2006 03:01 PM

Wow! That house is beautiful! It looks completely different! I thought it was pretty before, but wow! Congrats to you girls!!!!

notyouraverage 08-25-2006 10:04 AM

Paint and all!

Thanks for your kind words, Tammy. I've always thought the DPhiE house was so unique!

Here is the most recent picture of our new study room. Careful not to drool on the keyboard - this room is amazing!

This is the third floor officer's room - still a little bit of a mess from recruitment.

And this is a much better picture of our gorgeous new foyer (though the floor isn't quite finished yet).

And just for fun (because what would the house be without the beauties that live in it?) here are some pic-man shots from Bid Day

They are too cute! Congrats on the new pledge class! Wow...I really like the new renovations. It makes the house so bright and classy..I love it! I remember the formal room (the one that got done while I was in college) and I was like this is my favorite room..but now I think the house is awesome! I wish they would update our house..haha..but I kinda like it that it's so different...we always referred it as the big bank look alike. Are you on facebook? We must be facebook buddies! hehe:) :)

Speechpath 08-25-2006 11:39 AM

another UGA alum crashing in to say the house looks awesome! it's just beautiful!

JohnsDGsweethrt 08-27-2006 09:25 AM

wow it looks awesome! and so impressive! a gorgeous house for gorgeous girls!

AnchorAlumna 09-18-2006 12:58 PM

Hey Delta Iota! Just wondering how your COB is going, and if your house is nearing completion. ITB!

notyouraverage 09-27-2006 12:10 PM

COB is going great! I think we're going to have one more round and it sure feels like we're constantly having more pinning ceremonies. I really have no idea about the numbers, I heard it was up to or nearly up to the forties? Don't quote me though!!

Our house is finshed but for a few paint touch-ups; it's great to be able to use the front door and foyer again! And of course a little landscaping is left. But it looks fantastic and I know all the sisters get complimented on it all the time. :)

Other than that, Revelation was about two weeks ago and Initiation is coming up so we're all scrambling to get Little Sister gifts in order. :) So excited!

JohnsDGsweethrt 09-30-2006 07:22 AM

:)

please keep us updated on how your cob is going! i know you ladies are going to do an awesome job and the house looks AMAZING!
