What the hell???
|
Someone (who is a livejournal member, preferably) needs to report this to the national office.
I say it should be an LJ member so that they can adequately explain the nature of the site and how it works. |
done. i sent the graphics and the link to the national office.

Agreed
Count me in for trying to help.
I'm on Livejournal and would be happy to help in any way possible. The images are at photobucket at http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...inalintro1.jpg and http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...inalintro1.jpg (Don't know why Delta is capped and kappa not) BTW, There are *two* real Delta Sigma Chi's, one is a multi-cultural society (www.dsc1996.org) with 4 chapters and 3 colonies, the other a chiropractic honorary (www.deltasigmachi.biz) Randy |

More information on Sorority Glam.
I was able to find the IM handle for one of the founders of the Sorority Glam group. I had a very pleasant IM conversation with her for about an hour or so.
Key points. 1)She was willing to change the crest if I wanted to, but I told her not to do that until after I posted to this webboard about it. 2) I was *not* able to put into words *why* this mattered to me, and we really haven't done that good of a job here on the board, and she deserves that 3) The other founder apparently found the crest *scrubbed* of the interior on a board somewhere, I'm going to IM the other founder (probably Monday Night) to see if I can find that out. 4) I gave the Sorority Glam founder the URL for this thread so that she can see what we come up with. 5) She is currently in graduate school to be a Veterinarian. (Did undergrad at a school that has APO, but she wasn't familiar with it) YiLFS Randolph Finder |
I don't understand why we should have to provide reasons for her to not use a trademarked image. And just because it was altered when she found it doesn't make it any less disrespectful to members of this fraternity.

IT'S OURS AND MEANS SOMETHING TO US, NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN FOR EVERYONE TO USE. I don't know what more she needs to know than that. |
Since it's a trademarked image, can APO HQ issue a cease and desist? (Not a clue how that works.)

Probably so. I am also not sure how it works, but it definitely looks like trademark infringement or something. |

why does she feel we owe her a reason for taking down something that doesn't belong to her?
and if she's reading this here's why it matters - Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity was founded in 1925 by 14 illustrious young men who wanted to see a change in the world in which they lived. Since 1925 we have become the nation's largest student service organization and not only exist in the US but around the world. You want to know why this means something? Because it is a visual, emotional and TRADEMARKED image of our Fraternity. Deal with it. |
anybody have any info on why this group still hasn't removed the images from their site?
|
Largely because I haven't gotten back to her, I guess. I still haven't seen anything in the responses after my further information that I felt was appropriate.
To boil down the responses recently. "It means something to us, we'll say why even though we know you won't understand it. Remove it and Deal" Don't you think I had all of the information provided here when I talked to her? I wasn't expecting more from her, I was expecting more from *us*. It is funny, one of the things in her crests from ours is the Knight's Helmet. Are we really showing the characteristics that Knight's Helmet means to us? And to answer the other question, I seriously doubt the national office would spend the money on trying to get a Cease and Desist order. IMO, the money and time that would be spent putting that together could be better spent on other things of greater use to the brothers of the Fraternity. YiLFS Randolph Finder |
Not in APO but what about: it's copyright protected so it's against the law?
Also would contacting livejournal be useful here? I'm not sure about their rules but it could be grounds for removal of their account (or at least the picture) |

There was a "tri delta" community on LJ that was NOT made up of actual Tri Deltas - it was some high school girls thinking it was cute to use the name. Tri Delta managed to get it off LJ. They weren't about to just blow it off. |
