thinking it will solve all your problems

Because you don't like your friends and you want to buy some new ones...

Because you want to live in a mansion instead of a closet someone decided to label a dorm room.

Because all your friends are doing it.

Because your boyfriend/girlfriend thinks you should.

Because your parents want you to do it.

Because you want to look "cool".

To get back at the chapter that dropped you

because your sister, brother, mother, father, or any other close family member was Greek

because the houses look cool

because someone talked you into it

So you can sell the secrets to Fred Hatchett

For the naked pillow fights, of course!

so an alumni can get you a sweet job when you graduate.
so you can score with lots of hot chicks.
so there is always a place to party and drink.

- To be considered pretty and popular by the cute popular guys.

- To prove wrong the people from high school who thought you would be a dork forever.

- Simply to wear Greek letters.

- For the resume. This applies to some GLOs more than others.

Because you were the nerdy, dorky, ugly duckling band geek in high school who was picked on by the popular kids and who had a huge crush on the captain of the football team or on the head cheerleader but was never noticed

And so you want to join a sorority or fraternity because you think it's going to make you cool and you're going to be "Miss Popularity" or "Big Man On Campus"

Because you think Greek letters -> instant popularity, an instant circle of friends, and lots of members of the opposite sex throwing themselves at you.

Why should you go to the mall and buy a new wardrobe? Being in a sorority means having tons of free clothes. You can feel like a celebrity.


And because you want to see if being in a sorority is really as cool as it looks on "Legally Blonde".

Isn't that "family incest" ;)

Because frat boys are SOOOOOO cute and you have a better chance of dating one if you're in a sorority.

Wrong reason is....to get pledged and brag about it and don't plan to do any work!! but yet be ready to pledge someone else

As a corrollary.. grr can't spell, anyway...

Because you like spending 2 weeks out of every year at workshops... and your sundays in the spring... and skipping classes to blow up balloons...

so you can brag to all your friends that you have a secret handshake, ritual, call, clothes, etc and they don't know it.....nyah, nyah, nyah.

because Greeks get oh-so-much respect from the school administration and from the school paper and from the general student population.

So you can put letters in your sig on GC.

to join a 2 letter sorority, because you need something on your shirts to, ahem, enhance the cleavage....

You don't need to be greek to do that. You could always use Gamma Delta Iota... or Gamma Chi :p *runs away*
