Does anyone know what happen to the "as the sands burn" website? As the sands burn is the greek soap opera that the Alpha's started. I loved that soap opera.

I read quite a few episodes from the first season last night. Just...wow.

Why oh why can't they bring this back and finish up...I mean I can't take this anymore..Between this and the writer's strike. I wanna know how it all ended..:( Please let this be the resurgence of it..

Like we don't know how it turns out...but it's just as engrossing now. So much so that I wish I could convince ADoP in some way to continue writing. But that might require turning his back on his calling to ministry. Can't really do that. LOL

well being that all the characters would be in their... late 20s even early 30s if ATSB was continued... you may have to do a Degrassi-type thing. Someone's kid sister or cousin and their crew bring on the next story...

This is new to me, but I'm glad you guys brought it up. I'm almost done with season 1!

I hated Mona in 2002 or 2003 and I still hate her!!! I really wish someone would pick this up and kill Mona off. LMAO

Yes, when I first learned about BGLO and read this, I thought this was really what Greek Life was about..I would stay up until 5am catching up with the stories...glad that was YEARS ago and I know the real deal on the purpose of BGLOs (even though some of the drama that happens in the story happens on undergrad chapters). :)

On another note, I'm glad these stories were revived! I never read Season 1 and now a lot of things are making much more sense

I know the above wasn't for me :P , but rereading Season 1 and Mona's whole situation and eventual induction into AKA was quite similar to a real life situation that played out in undergrad years with XYZ. However, the real-life legacy in the situation was nothing like Mona because we really never heard from her again.

I'm into Season 2. I'll find any good reason to read it all over again. I'm bracing myself for what I know happens in Season 2.

What's BTBS? Is that another soap? I'm assume it's "B(somthing) the Burning Sands", but I don't know where to find it.

As for ATSB, I'm on season 2, now!

^^^ Beyond the Burning Sands. I used the internet to research (if only interests really knew how to use the 'net :P ) and refresh my memory. It started as the BET.com episodes, and it eventually became its own thing. It was based at "Amgis College". Anyone else can come and correct me if needed. :)

Simply put, I am not a fan of Mona.

i know quite a few people who would beat a "Mona" down, regardless if they were her soror. but i can totally see little girls growing up like that to the point of feeling like they earned it.

i mean who do you blame, the girl who wants to be just like mom/aunt/grandma/older sister by doing the call and calling her XYZ relative "soror," or the mom/aunt/grandma/older sister who doesnt chin-check her for it?

In Mona's circumstance the blame should be placed on both parties. Mommy Ferguson kept turning the other cheek and not saying what she was thinking. Mona should also be at fault simply because she is adult enough to make her own decisions.

I knew I wasn't crazy.... There's a Season 5 reference on this site, but it is missing. I remember one particular incident during that season that made someone look like her line name should've been "Limelight" or "Center Stage", and I'd love to read that one again. Some of y'all remember.... Don't ack. :p

For anyone who hasn't read far enough ahead to Season 4 to know what's going on, I'll give you this

Everyone hates Mona Ferguson, and her Mom gets on people's nerves, too. Well, we learn Sharonda the Zeta is also a Ferguson. Lo and behold, Mona's little sister, Miya, expresses a desire to become a Zeta rather than an AKA. Miya also happens to be a HS senior with enough credit hours to be classified as a freshman. Despite the madness of it, the Ahpla and Amgis chapters include Miya as one of four women on their joint line. Mom and Mona are ticked, buy Miya works hard for ZPhiB and earns her letters.

Fast forward to her probate. The line works hard on their probate show. Miya has her own ideas on how to make the show hot, but the probates shut it down because her ideas really don't fit into a probate. Well, Zetas come from everywhere for this probate, and it's going well. Then, Miya shocks her LS's and prophytes by breaking from the plan and by dissing orgs and doing some hot moves which turn out to be a "hot mess" when the audience is laughing at her antics.

Her LS's and prophytes are flabbergasted and don't know what to do with Miya. Her cousin, Sharonda, talks to Miya who doesn't understand what her actions until Sharona likens Miya's antics to what the Ahpla AKAs have to go through with Mona. That strikes a chord with Miya, but...I don't remember if she ever got back into the good graces of her LS's and big sisters. If someone can pick up from here, I appreciate it. :)

But that incident would've been worthy of the alias "Limelight" considering she wants to be the center of attention, and she has the same tendencies as Mona to act without thinking of her impact on others closer to her.
