Lisa Raye's Wedding on Oxygen Channel 7.15.06
10pm/9C
Mr. Fabulous Preston Bailey: Mr. Fabulous Actress Lisa Ray wants a fairy tale wedding, and Preston Bailey is just the man to give it to her. Watch as Mr. Fabulous plans her wedding to the prime minister of Turks and Caicos. 1 hr 1 min. (TV-PG) |
Anyone else watching it with me?? LOL
Da Brat is LisaRaye's sister right?? Just wanted some clarification. |
That's what I've always heard. Maybe they are "play" sisters. Her wedding was beautiful.
|
They're half sisters. I believe that have the same father. I saw the last 20 minutes but will watch the whole thing later.
|
Yeah they are half sisters. Da Brat really isn't a bad looking girl herself she's just a lot wilder than her sister. I saw an interview with Lisa Raye and she was doing a walk through of her house. She mentioned that Da Brat was her sister. There was a large poster of her in her daughter's bedroom. Lisa Raye talked about when her sister told her that she was rapping and the first time she saw Da Brat's new image. She said, "Girl what did you do to your hair!" They seem to be quite close.
Lisa Raye was supposed to marry this same guy earlier and I don't know what made them postpone it. So I guess they finally tied the knot. I missed it tonight but I'm sure it will be on again. |
I watched it. I loved the way they had her walk across the water. I think the wedding was well put together. However, I did NOT like LisaRaye's hair. The whole wedding must have cost a grip. I thought Preston was going to burst a blood vessel. The one right on his temple. Whew!! I could not be a celebrity wedding planner.
|
I'm glad I TiVo'd it and Mo"nique's FAT Chance or whatever it's called.
That will be my Sunday wind-down watching. |
I fell asleep on MOnique's Fat Chance last night which means I missed Lisa Raye's wedding...so I guess I'll catch it when it comes on again.

Sister 2 Sister magazine...

Gina, I thought that blood vessel was going to bust too! But the wedding turned out very nice. I thought that the fireworks were better during the recepition than right after the wedding. The cake was neat too (even thought the bakers had to do it over).
And why was Vivica everywhere? It seems like I saw her more there than the groom! :p One of the occupations I have been thinking about lately is a event planner/coordinator. Seeing this gives me a lot more respect for them. |

When Lisa did an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine she referred to herself as the only child and when she made reference to Da Brat she didn't call her her sister. I've heard that she and Da Brat are sisters but after reading that article I assume Da Brat was just extremely close to Lisa's family. Did anyone else read that article? ^^I haven't seen the article but if that's true that's crazy because in the interview that I saw she's the one that brought it up. It's not like the interviewer had even asked her if Da Brat was her sister. She was the one that pointed out her sister DaBrat's picture on the wall. With celebrities there is no telling though. I don't even try and figure out why they do what they do. I remember back in the day when R Kelly and Alliyah sat up in an interview talking about they were cousins. And we all know the outcome there. (LOL) :D |
I loved the wedding. I liked her hair better when she came to the reception the nice cascading curls. I think Preston did a great job. I watched it twice.
|
Mad I missed it.
I thought Da Brat and Lisa were half sisters. Maybe they just weren't raised together even though they grew up in the same city. |
Grrrrr @ not having Oxygen channel:mad:
Hopefully, someone will post some pics. Someone whose real internet saavy. Someone who knows how to find anything on the web... Where is CT4?!?! |

Well I could see why she would say that. I have a half sister whom I love, but she's 8 yrs older than me and we grew up in separate households. For all intensive purposes I was raised as an only child even though I technically have a sister. What I tell people tends to depend on the context of the conversation. If we're talking about fighting w/siblings as kids or sharing, then I say I'm an only child. However, if we're talking about going to a siblings graduation/wedding, then I mention my sister. It may have been a similar situation for her. |
One the program they said Da Brat was her sister, plus she was in the bridal party. I've also seen interviews with Lisa saying the Brat was her sister.
|
Lisa Raye and Da Brat are indeed half sisters. The grew up in Chicago or at least Lisa did where her father or their father I should say ran a very successful funeral business. Lisa was going to go into the family business but found that wasn't where she wanted to go......if anyone saw the VH-1 Surreal Life that had Da Brat on their. They showed when they go to invite someone to the show I think for the fashio show that the guys did, Da Brat invited Lisa Raye which she said and it said under her name that it was her sister. I do know that they didn't grow up together, and they are half-sisters.
I see that this is coming on again tonight at 10pm...I hope to catch it this time because I wanted to check it out when I saw the previews.....I saw the rerun of Mo's show yesterday, and thought it was pretty good since I didn't see the first one. |
Da Brat was adopted by LisaRaye's parents. I missed the show, so I shall see it tonight.
Thanks for the reminder. |
Brat is from Chicago too. In one of her early raps (Funkdafied) when she says she's from the 60644, she's talking about a zip code in Chicago. My sister's hairdresser in ATL does Brat's hair sometimes and my baby sister has met her. She said they were in the shop at the same time, she was really down to earth and offered my baby sister some of her food.

For those of who watched it previously...please tell me Da Brat didn't keep those braids in her hair for the wedding?

Thanks...Watching it tonight and fell asleep during a portion of it...caught the end with her walking out of the ceremony into the reception area with the fireworks going off....
|
I missed it, but I LOVE Preston Bailey!
|
They are sisters but I believe they have the same mother because they both have different last names.
The show was amazing to me...can you tell that I am an event planner in the making!!! That vessel was going to bust especially if they didn't get those fireworks going!!! He had me like now, now, now!!! LOL The wedding was beautiful but Vivica is in everyones wedding!!!! LOL She is a super dupper hot mess! |
Preston Bailey is definitely a great event planner....
|
Preston is da bomb..if the flowers were $300K i can't imagine what his fees were. I thought he was going to choke the event coordinator that had never done an island wedding (we talk on cell phones that are on vibrate..wth?? ). When I did event planning for the Art Museum, we always had walkie-talkies...I thought that vessel was gonna pop in his head as well.
Lisa was stunning, the dress was gorgeous. I did thing her hair was a bit much but her dress was so lavish I liked her hair with it. Simple and complicated at the same time. Now the wedding is over (for a minute) hope the marriage lasts longer than it takes to pay it all off. I wish them both the best |
I had gotten tired of seeing LisaRaye in white, so on her wedding day I felt that it would of been somewhat of the same thing. But overall it was beautiful. She's the first lady of Turks and Caicos.
|
i watched it last night and Preston is the bomb. The wedding was really the bomb. I really liked that walking over the water. When Preston was like do it now, do it now, do it now with the fireworks...I thought he was going to not only pop a vessel but also snatch gthe person through the phone and choke the shyt out of them......is it me, or is Vivica just ghetto now?
|
Vivica is killing me with the Botox lips. She is just extra. Is it me or did anyone else catch her saying "conversate". That is just awful.
Da Brat kept the braids but they looked nice when she was walking down the aisle. |

I caught that too...and gave her the  face |
I loved it and my brother loved it (especially the cake). My mother: HATED IT! She said it was too extravagant, opulent and ostentatious. She also wondered why nobody researched how things are done in Turks and Caicos. Things like: 1. Are there areas that have refrigerators so that essential items can be refrigerated (i.e. flowers, cake ingredients)?
2. Is there shuttle service for hotel guests? 3. Did anyone know that most if not all of the $h!t that they had flown there would have to go through Customs or be detained by them? 4. If you know that what you're shipping from the U.S. to Turks and Caicos is delicate, did you really think that when it got to you it would still be intact? Anyway, I enjoyed it, despite the snafus and will watch it again when it comes on. Although I'd prefer the Real Weddings from the Knot. :D  |
She's our own Grace Kelly <sarcastic voice>
|
HC that word has been so widely misused that folk actually think that "conversate" is a word? Converse people, converse! :)
