Hi lovelysha, welcome to GC. There is no need to post the same thing three times, as people read most of the forums. Latino Greeks has a listing of all the Latino fraternities and sororities with their websites and pictures. You could probably find out on there.

Yea common mistake by newbies. I thought it might have been LSU because the guy is wearing a light blue shirt, but I just checked and it's not.

Sign, I didnt know We had a sign until it was explained to me 39 years after Initiation!
First time I saw it I am going woe is me, gang sig:eek: n! It is not uncommon for GLOs to have a secret Hand Sign or hand clasp to reconize fellow members.:) That means All GLOs. |

I figure our sign out even before I went thought Initiation but it had more meaning once I went thought Initiation. |
Did you ever find out what org has that sign? I've never seen it before. But I think I've seen a sorority with it.

Are you sure it's a latino fraternity?

Say it with me now: FRATERNITY See, that's not so hard is it?? |
I didn't think it was that big of a deal. We just call them Frats, like most other people.
Anyone have any clues about this sign? |

Here on GC, it IS a big deal. See This Thread among hundreds of others. Who are "most other people"??? |
I don't see why you are getting so high strung about this. Its not that serious, out here we tend to call them Frats during casual conversation, if you want them called Fraternities then ok. I'm new to the boards I didn't have time to read every guideline, I apologize if I broke some rule or something.
|
You didn't break a rule or anything, it's just that calling fraternities "frats" touches a nerve with a lot of people. Many negative connotations have come to be associated with the word, and therefore most people don't want to be associated with it.
|
You know what? I am really tired of this.
There comes a point where people have to let things go. FRAT FRAT FRAT FRAT FRAT. If YOU don't identify with the term, then don't respond to it. Sistergirl already said she's in a black sorority. Have we not already established time and time again that the term FRAT is not a cuss word among people of color? GROW UP. Get over it. It's not that serious -- the issue is relative to your campuses and not even universal on GreekChat. |
Frat fratty frat frat frat.

looks like some kinda east sida loco gang sign to me  keep it classy

Nope, highly highly doubt its a gang sign...pretty sure those guys are of greek affiliation. And I don't think gang members go to college or wear button up shirts and ties and attend professional after-work events lol!! My brother said the only Latin gangs out here of any significance is the Latin Kings and one or two others, and thats not their sign. And I even I know thats not a blood or crip sign lol. :D

I am still trying to figure out whose handsign that is. |
This may be a stupid question...
Are we sure it's not someone trying to do the handsign but not having the physical dexterity to do it? :D |

Back to the topic: It looks like it could be a sign in reverse. Let me think about this one a little bit more. |
It might be Tau Phi Sigma. It's a multicultural fraternity but has a lot of latinos.

But thanks for your help, is doing signs in reverse a common thing amongst fraternities? Zchi and L.O.C.K., I looked at the hand signs of those organizations and they look similar but not an exact match. Zchi, Tau Phi Sigma seems to be a midwest organization, these guys are from out here in the New York/New Jersey area...doesnt mean they can't be a part of it though. :D |

It looks like a one-handed version of my sorority's (Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority) handsign.
This picture shows the one-hand & two-hand. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...n2006-12-1.jpg |
I dunno if you ever found out, but it looks like a Phi Iota Alpha sign...
