yah - those rocked! almost as much as the movie today!
|
I saw it this afternoon, and I thought it was fun. Maybe not as good as the first one, but definitely worth seeing.
|
i saw the midnight showing last night, and i thought the movie was awesome, but the crazies were definitely out for the showing. the bumperstickers i saw walking up to the theater were scary enough (example: my other car is a dragon) and then i got inside and saw all the costumes. all in all a weird night, but fun.
|
I can't wait to see it but we're waiting until our sons return from camp! Arggghhh! I did buy the Pirates of the Caribbean Monopoly, Game of Life, and chess for them for Christmas.
|
I waited in line half an hour on my lunch break to get tickets for a show last night. It was good, but I prefered the first one. I can't wait for the third to see how they wrap things up!

The first one was awesome - of course - and I loved this one just as much. This one is a completely different "beast" (if you will :p ) in that the plots & subplots get all twisted together. Definitely a race from start to finish. My fav line was when Captain Jack said to Elizabeth "Those clothes really don't suit you. It should be a dress or nothing at all - and I just so happen to have no dress in my cabin!" The writing was great all the way through! I am definitely going to have to see it again! |
for a good laugh - stay through the credits

saw it----loved it-----can't wait to buy it or for #3 to get here!!
|
Would you take your average 6-10 year olds to see it?
|
i would hesitate to say - "oh yah definetely go ahead and take 6-10 year olds to see this!" - if only because it was definetely darker than the previous one and there were some scary/gruesome scenes (people having eyeballs plucked out/rotting corpses in cages/people being whipped/that whole nasty beating heart thing) that i wouldn't take issues with teens seeing but might worry about showing to the average 6-10 year old
|
I loved the movie but half the time I didn't understand what they were saying, sometimes they were speaking way too low and there was background noise, not to mention mumbly accents and i'd miss jokes.
But my favorite part was with Jack and Elizabeth on the Black Pearl where they have the "Persuade Me" convo, I didn't get the joke until like about the last time he said it. I thought it was very funny! I really wish they'd warn people to stay through the credits! I would have stayed had they said something earlier! |

About the part after the credits - yes, it was really funny - BUT, nothing earth shattering that you missed & it only took about 3 seconds to show the clip. So if you want to know what you missed, PM me & I'll fill you in. |
Saw it yesterday, didn't stay through the whole credits, so I guess I'll be seeing it again. :D
I loved it, although I'll admit that it was a tad long. The movie was like a typical 2nd movie in a trilogy, good, but not the best. I absolutely loved the first one, now I just can't wait until next summer to see the 3rd one, which by the way is called "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End". (Which was kind of obvious considering it was said by Tia Dalma. I definately need to see it again so that I "catch" everything. I also loved the score to the movie. I bought the soundtrack on Thursday, so I had a chance to listen to it prior to seeing the movie. I love Hans Zimmer as a composer. The last 15 minutes of the movies absolutely shocked me in more ways than one, so I shall leave some spoiler space... l a l a l a s p o i l e r s p a c e r e a d a t o w n r i s k l a l a l a 1) The kiss between Jack & Elizabeth. Holy crap! I thought it was HOT. The sexual inneuendos between the two of them were great! Plus, I think Johnny Depp is so gorgeous!!! So now I'm thinking I might be rooting Jack & Elizabeth instead of Elizabeth and Will. LOL. 2) Barbossa-seriously, I should have seen it coming because of the damn monkey not being alive or dead. I'm so excited though because I love the character of Barbossa. |

La S p o i l e r s p a c e Just leaving some spoiler space for the end of ASUADPi's post... people don't realize that if you get sent to this post, you'll see hers too sometimes.. ANyway, loved the movie! Disappointed that it ended the way it did, but excited for the 3rd. |
Johnny Depps Face
I have not seen the movie. I keep coming across this flesh crawling picture. Are those eyeballs on Johnny Depp's face at one point during the movie? I couldn't make out what that was, it looks like eyes.
|
Loved it!
|
chrini, yep. they are on johnny depp's face during part of the movie. i will not divulge another thing about it.
carnation, i agree with the other two posters. i think that for this movie, a 6-7 year old might be a bit young, especially if he is prone to nightmares-plus as others have said this movie is l.....o....n.....g (but oh so entertaining!). how did he do with the first pirates movie and with the harry potter movies? that might be a way to guage his reaction to some of the more gruesome scenes in this movie. but whatever you do with the 6 year old, definately take the older kids-they will love it. |
Time flew by with this movie. It was great.
|
I was supposed to see that but was all sold out. I went with my younger brother and his g/f. She was all like " I want to see Orlando Bloom" and my brother said "I want to see Keira Knightley" and I was all like "Yeah, I want to see the sailboats." They laughed. And then I was like "what? I'm mal-adjusted." Then they just looked at me weird. I'm glad I didn't see the movie with them, what a couple of freaks.

I really enjoyed seeing the movie Friday. Tho I didn't see the first I enjoyed the second & understood most of what was going on. Great special effects!
|
We had to rush home because we had a babysitter (she was there for 6 hours!), so we missed the credits. What happened?
|
It was def. a second movie in a series. I did like it, but not as much as the first. And shoot about the end credits.
What frustrates me most are series that use the second movie for a ton of buildup for the 3rd. There were just a lot of loose ends, but luckily I only have to wait until next summer... unlike the prequel to Star Wars.... and Matrix. Spoiler alert... Highlight to read: But yeah... Barbossa coming back? I'm sure there was something I missed in the previous movie, but I thought he was shot and fell over dead? But the undead monkey wasn't really explained either. Hopefully, next movie. |

You see the cannibal tribe (or whatever they are) and they are dancing around - the camera pans over to the "god" chair where Capt Jack was sitting & you see the dog sitting there with a big bone in his mouth. Cute, but not something that you absolutely had to sit through the credits to see. |
Thanks for the description of the credits. We didn't stay for all of them.
I'll go call my friend who saw it with me. She whined for a while when the cannibals were chasing the dog. |

My cousin, who has never seen the first movie, wants to see the second (kind of), so I told her that she would like the first one. She's just not a big Johnny Depp fan and I told her that he made the movie and that he is actually quite funny in the 1st one. So we shall see if she rents it or not. My impatience is already kicking into high gear. I'm ready for it to be next summer so I can watch and see what happens with Jack. |
Saw it last night, thought it was good, though it was blatantly obvious throughout the movie how much they were leaving it open for the sequel. I'm usually not one for long movies, but it went very quickly. It was a fun movie. I thought the eyeballs on jack's face were hilarious.
