Transformers: To Punish and Enslave

As I was leaving the theater I saw a movie poster advertising

TRANSFORMERS!!!

I got so amped. I remember my brother playing with his Transformer men as a kid.

It comes out 4th of July 2007, LMAO!!!!  :D

But from the cast, I can tell it will be off the hook: Shia LeBeouf (Holes, Even Stevens), Jon Voight, Tyrese, Michael Clarke Duncan, Bernie Mac.

Transformers...more than meets the eye. I will need to see that!

whiteandblack 07-04-2006 06:14 PM

It will be interesting to see how they'll pull this off.

I am cracking up while wondering...how many folks that read this post know what transformers are...LOL

The cartoon was the bomb!

StarFish106 07-05-2006 09:41 AM

I have the orignal movie (had to search hard for it). This will be interesting..I wonder will they bring back Unicron? I always wanted to see more of Omega Supreme in the cartoons...oh well this should be fun to see.

Rain Man 07-05-2006 02:29 PM

Interesting to note that some of the Transformer-oriented charactors had Black Greek-esque names:

OMEGA Supreme
Vector SIGMA
ALPHA Trion

Sorry, no characters had the name Delta (AFAIK) :p

ETA: Slight hijack--I remember reading back in the day one of those Houghton Mifflin reading books ("Images") and there was a play in it called "The Book That Saved the Earth" and in it there were also some characters with Black Greek-esque names:

Captain OMEGA
Sergeant OOP
Lieutenant IOTA

I wonder if author Claire Boiko (who I by accident saw her as a contestant on Match Game '90, btw) was a Black Greek or had relatives who were Black Greeks. Just interesting.

I got the DVD version as a present.

I'm interested in seeing how they pull this off.

gamma_girl52 07-06-2006 01:34 PM

I'm interested in how they'll pull this off myself. I remember watching the cartoon version growing up.

You mean they have "Greek" sounding names?? Omega, and especially Sigma (Tri-Sigma) and Alpha (Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Chi Omega), are not exclusive nicknames to NPHC.

You either missed or ignored the point I was trying to convey, but given the lighthearted natured of this thread, it's no big deal.

No harm, no foul.

CrimsonTide4 07-11-2006 06:36 AM

One of my coworkers sent this to me yesterday. Hopefully it downloads for you.

I can't wait!

This was one of my favorite cartoons. I have the original movie too.

I'm waiting on movies for G.I. Joe and Jem.

I love the 80's :D

Gina1201 07-11-2006 09:40 PM

I would LOVE to see a Jem movie. I had the doll.

"Jem, Jem is excitement ooh Jem" "glamour and glitter, fashion and Jem" "Jem is truly outrageous, truly, truly, truly outrageous"

ZetaStorm 07-13-2006 12:15 AM

I got to see this. Man I used to love Transformers! :)

jitterbug13 08-18-2006 10:39 PM

ladylike 06-17-2007 02:29 PM

I went to see Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer Friday and caught the preview for Transformers. It looks like it's going to be really good (ignore the fact that Tyrese is in it)!! :)

I keep seeing a license plate here in Charlotte (acutally, there was one time I was behind it all the way from way outside Charlotte up to South Blvd - apparently she lives near the kids babysitter and works near me) that's something like: JEMSTAR.

Still BLUTANG 06-18-2007 09:36 AM

hijak
Jem is one of my top friends on Myspace.
/hijak

I cant wait for the transformers movie!!! Hopefully there will be a midnight show on July 3rd or 12:01 on the 4th so i can see it and then have the rest of my weekend to chill.

StarFish106 06-29-2007 04:21 PM

IHO the movie

Bo-Weep-Grana-Weep-Nittybaum?

P.S Darius McCrary voicing Jazz (used to be scatman crothers). I'd rather hear him than see him so I guess this will be ok...

Boom_Quack13 07-05-2007 03:09 PM

So, who went? How was it?

DSTKellie 07-05-2007 03:17 PM

^^^I saw it and it was GREAT!! The storyline was easy to follow, and the action scenes were phenomenal. I like it because even if you didn't grow up watching Transformers, you can still appreciate the movie...hope that makes sense.;)

raggann03 07-05-2007 03:27 PM

Can I just say the movie was............................................... ....................... AWESOME!!!!!

Seriously I was expecting them to totally screw this up and I just loved it!!!! I wanna see it again!

neosoul 07-05-2007 03:51 PM

Solid C, borderline D
no plot, but visually stunning
all you needed were eyes to watch this movie
I acknowledge it for what it was: mindless entertainment

DSTKellie 07-05-2007 03:52 PM

^^^ Boo you!!!!.......Just Joking:p

lol... I said it was visually stunning... doesn't that count for something?

Little32 07-05-2007 08:09 PM

As I posted in the "Last Movie You Saw" thread, I thought Transformers was great. I love that for the most part the Transformers were the ones that you remember from the original series, without too much change (though there was a bit of melding). Optimus Prime was great; Starscream was a beast (in the scene where the airforce was flying into the city: of course I was looking for the Aerialbots to come and run check on him, but I guess that is for two.)

I agree with those that posted that this movie had all kinds of potential to fall flat, but in my mind it more than exceeded my expecations (which were really high, given that I have been waiting for this movie for about a year).

Wonderful1908 07-05-2007 11:38 PM

It did take me back to childhood. So for that it was great, it was kinda long, and its seemed like it took forever for the Autobots and Decipticons to get their crews together. But the second half the action and visual effects were so good I forgot about the cheesy story line.

Side note, what high school was that girl in, uhm she looked like she just got off a pole. I assume thats the point though.

All in all thumbs up

Ten/Four 07-07-2007 01:09 PM

I saw it Wednesday I thought it was great. I'm glad they didn't mess it up. It was so funny I laughed the whole time. The people sitting in front of me were mad they didn't play the theme song.

nikki1920 07-07-2007 01:18 PM

I have RARELY heard applause when a character comes on the screen, but it broke out when Optimus appeared and again at the end of the movie.

Bumblebee was killing it with the songs to match Sam's mood: Baby come back, Lets get it on. lol

ETA: wonderful1908: Sistergreek you are SO right. I did think she looked kind of stripperish.

I just came from seeing it and it was AWESOME!!!! I only really remember Optimist Prime because my brother played with them as a kid! I love Shia LaBeouf -- this took his acting to a whole new level in my mind.

We applauded at the end of the movie.
I loooooooved Bumblebee. When he got his extreme makeover: car edition, I cracked up.

Wonderful1908 07-07-2007 05:08 PM

My brother wanted to know why the only black transformer had to die? (Jazz):p

Yes, Bumblebee was my fav too!! I loved the radio and how he kicked them out of the car with the quickness. I was :( at first at his ending but then :D. Why did Rodney tell me that he had the original METAL transformers? I felt like I was at the movies with a 5 year old.

I didn't even recognize who he was. He played the brother on Disney's "Even Stevens" and in "Holes." He is such a cutie.;) He's also going to be in the next Indiana Jones movie.

He's also Cody Maverick in Surf's Up that came out this summer as well as Disturbia which was released a few months ago.

StarFish106 07-09-2007 09:01 AM

Saw the movie Friday and I want to see it again!! Thought it was cool that Peter Cullens (orig Optimus Prime) got to do his voice.

Megatron is a bad azz....just like he is supposed to be. And you know he will be back.

Um scuse me Michael Bey...if you make another one, can you put Omega Supreme in it PLEEEEAAASSE;):o

Signed

A Grateful Fan

I was in the movie theatre hot about that myself!

Overall, I loved the movie. I'm still laughing about these big robots trying to hide from the parents in that little backyard. I was all emotional when Bumble Bee requested to stay with the boy...sigh :o.

This movie has me wanting to watch the old series all over again.
