Spinoff:Where Have You Worked That You Still Patron

If you've ever worked in a restaurant/fast food, do you still eat there??

If you've worked retail, do you still shop in that store??

Etc....

I've worked at Taco Bell, and I still eat there. We had a clean-freak manager that refused to get anything less then 100% on our Health Inspections.

I worked at Waffle House as an in-between jobs kind of thing (scariest month of my life!!). I doubt I'll ever eat there again.

I worked at Wal-Mart in High School. I still shop there when I need general stuff, like paper-towels or shampoo.

i worked at a small indy pizza place called Pisanello's in bowling green ohio - i definetely still eat there when i'm in the area!

other than that, i worked at a rafferty's and i do not eat there anymore - but simply because its a meat heavy menu and i am a vegetarian

Subway, although not too often, as I want to jump over the counter and make it myself since no one can ever do it right once you do your own.

mulattogyrl 06-15-2006 11:34 AM

I don't go to the same ones I worked in because I don't live in the same area, but I've worked in these stores and would/do still shop there:

Blockbuster
Barnes & Noble
Macy's
Quick Chek
IKEA
FedEx

I've worked a lot in my life, lol.

AOIIBrandi 06-15-2006 01:11 PM

I worked at the Gap and still shop there. Not having the discount is a little disheartening though ;)

BigRedBeta 06-15-2006 01:27 PM

Panera

I'm gona have to try that restaurant when I go down there, if I haven't eaten there already. Bowling Green is the closest place for us to buy Phi Mu stuff in person, so Collegiate Connection used to be the love of my life, and Judy is the sweetest!- /hijack

I worked at an ice cream place called Bob Jo's as my first job... it used to be the only frozen custard place in Southern Michigan. I def still go there, and if you live around here you'd know why!

Then I worked at a salon, and I still went there till I couldn't afford it anymore (employee discounts rock) so now I go to my cousin. I still go to that salon for updos tho cuz they are awesome.

Hooters.

adpiucf 06-15-2006 02:46 PM

Yes! I worked at Ann Taylor, and it is my favorite store. I have also worked at a number of restaurants and I'm happy to go back to any of them because they were all VERY clean.

And I worked at SeaWorld-- I'll go back there anytime! :)

Target (A much classier alternative to Wal-Mart/K-Mart/Shopko).

It is. But usually classier = pricey-er. My Charmin is still Charmin whether I pay $5.98 or $6.95 for it. I have found some decent deals at Target, but their clearance usually isn't huge markdowns like at WalMart.

PhiMuAmberkins 06-15-2006 04:40 PM

I still go to the movie theater I worked at for 4 years. There are only 2 in my hometown, and mine was the better of the 2, so I'd rather go to it, even if their employee standards have gone down considerably! :D

yah i love collegiate connection too! btw - pisanello's is on main street right next to the library and i recommend a "white pizza" or stuffed breadsticks (tomato bread rocks too!)

True- but then again, I don't usually buy my Charmin at Target! Usually at the grocery store, where it is much cheaper.
I guess I'm ok with paying a slightly higher price for a slightly better looking store, and slightly higher quality of certain goods (I'm thinking sheets, towels, kitchen stuff, some knick knacks, some clothes, though I certainly don't buy all that at Target all the time either.)

Ruby Tuesday restaurant. I go back whenever I am in Memphis (no locations in Dallas).

ShaedyKD 06-15-2006 07:10 PM

I used to work at Chili's and Red Lobster, and I still go to both. And despite the fact that I know exactly how much fat is in those cheddar bay biscuits!

Scandia 06-15-2006 07:16 PM

My first job involved my selling subscriptions door to door for the Gainesville newspaper. My folks still receive it.

I worked in the past for Wal-Mart and Target. I still shop at both.

There is one Ruby Tuesday's on 75 (Central Expressway) and Eldorado Parkway in McKinney.

JenMarie 06-15-2006 08:25 PM

Macys, though I don't always shop there for myself. It's usually for gifts or something.

Joanns: I can't stop shopping at the single biggest fabric and craft store in the area. Especially since the super stores started cropping up around here. Though the Michael's they just opened could rival it.

Cool! When did it open? I started teaching in Plano this year, I could just go up Central someday after school. And how sad is it that I am excited about a Ruby Tuesday being close by?

I worked at Abercrombie when I was in high school... now I can't stand the place (a mixture of poor quality clothing, too-loud weird techno music, and gross cologne sprayed on everything). Yuck.

DeltAlum 06-16-2006 11:01 AM

I still watch the TV station I worked for here in Denver.

That is one thing that's always baffled me, it's one thing to pay big $$ for clothes that are well made and more classic then trendy...it's another to pay a ridiculous amount of $$ for clothes that are already wore/falling apart looking and are going to be out of style in 6 months.

KatieKate1244 06-16-2006 01:09 PM

I worked for a small hot dog stand called Bowincal's through high school and my freshman year in college. Then, the original owners sold the place, and it went to hell. I think I've been back there once. I also worked at Cedar Point for a week (will go back soon, hopefully) and a local pizza place that I will not set foot near. The woman who ran it was a bitch.

Xylochick216 06-16-2006 02:18 PM

I ate at the restaurant I worked at until it closed. I still watch the TV station I worked at (partly to laugh at all the mistakes, partly because it's the station I grew up watching).

BobbyTheDon 06-16-2006 02:23 PM

I use to work at Abercrombie & Fitch, Froggers surf and Chilis.

Even though I'm probably too old for Abercrombie, I'll roll in every once in a while . I like Chilis. The tortilla soup is yummy. Froggers Surf actually got bought out became a place called the Closet

KSUViolet06 06-16-2006 02:24 PM

I worked at Pizza Hut, and I still eat there.

AlphaFrog 06-16-2006 02:25 PM

OMG...I can't believe that Bobby worked at Afrocrombie & Bitch!!:D :D

Glitter650 06-16-2006 03:43 PM

I worked at Victoria's Secret... I am now addicted and shop there WAAAYY too much. I think I own about 40 bras or so...

ADqtPiMel 06-16-2006 03:53 PM

I've only worked at the university rec center and a YMCA, and I still frequent both.

Pessimist Null 06-19-2006 02:14 PM

where I've worked/go back?

first job was as a valet -- I don't really know anyone there, but a few people are still there, so every once in a blue moon, I'll go down there to say "high"

second job at grocery store...my location closed so no, but that store moved to another location and kept its employee ID numbers, etc, so sometimes I go clock in and then get a phone call three weeks later asking why I took the past 7 years off. haha.

Restaurant one -not worth for the food and the people moved on so no

Restaurant two - no not really. Sometimes to visit people, but that is about it.

Movie store (movie gallery, merging w/ hollywood video)

I actively boycott, and urge others to do the same, all mass-chain video retailers. NexFlix is okay, so are the independant stores. If you go to blockbuster/hollywood video/movie you might as well tell the guy working he's fired. They do that all the time and with no good reason. They fired my manager for giving the robber the money. At gun point. Said that he didn't "react in the prefferable manner of employees" or some stuff. And also, they are corrupt

HBADPi 06-19-2006 04:45 PM

Macys I frequent sometimes but working at Hallmark made me the biggest card junkie ever! I even have the card organizer and storage box! My friends make fun of me for it all the time but I pretty much live by my Hallmark Rewards Card :)
