My Friends AI Journey
I have a friend who is looking into AI, and with her okay, I thought I'd post her journey (hopefully) for you all to read.
In college, none of the national sororities and her clicked. Now out of school she feels that she is missing something. There are four groups that she is currently looking at right now. Seeing as how I'm in the process of re-reading Harry Potter, I'm going to name them after the houses. She has contacted all of them so far, and only heard back from one, Ravenclaw. She responded to the e-mail that she got from HQ, and is hoping for more information soon. Ravenclaw would have been her #1 choice if they were on her campus as an undergrad. The other 3, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, she is still waiting to hear back from them.They are all great groups. As far as I know, there have been AI's into 3 out of these 4 groups here on GC. She isn't on GC, and she isn't planning on joining GC unless something works out, which is why I'm posting this for her. I am really excited for her, and hoping that she will be able to find her home. |
Any reference to Harry Potter will suck me right in. I am hoping she finds her perfect home! I will stay tuned!

Hijacking this thread to say that what colors did each house have? Gryffindor is Maroon and Gold and Slytherin is Green and Silver, but what about the other two? And oh yea, good luck to your friend. :)

She has been contacted by the president of the Alumnae Chapter of Slytherin. However, the president asked her what chapter she was from, so she had to explain again that she was looking into AI, and not a sister. Is this a common thing? You'd think that a president of an AA would know about AI (or at least I would think so). Still waiting for replies from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. Thanks for the replies and good wishes for her. |

When I contacted a different sorority last summer, let's call them Terrier, the alum chapter president didn't think that Terrier did AI's at all. I remember her words being, "You sound perfect for our organization, but I'm not even sure we do them [AI]." I wasn't sure how to tell her "Oh but you do! Headquarters told me you do!!!!"
Buttonz, your friend is going to have to find a perfectly tactful way of reminding certain chapter presidents that AI is allowed in the sorority. Good luck to her! |

At Hogwarts, Hufflepuff is the one that is yellow and black. Ravenclaw is blue and bronze.
If you are using the sorority's colors, then that is a different case. |

From what I understood of it, the alumnae chapter thought Caryn's friend was already a sister. Maybe they haven't had an AI before and don't know how it works or maybe their signals got confused after they were contacted?

As for HP, I thought one of the houses was Blue & Yellow (Gold). I distintly remember those colors from HP #4. I'm pretty sure Cedric was in that house. Time to pull out the trusty DVD's. LOL. |
Hmm, I may have to devote my weekend to watching all of the HP movies just for "research" purposes, of course.

I'm Ravenclaw...but I'm using star names for my sororities. Ravenclaw strictly pertains to my Hogwarts house.

Doesn't shock me that a lot of others used the House names in rush threads.
I'll say this much: Gryffindor isn't the same as tinydancer's is :) On that note...my friend told me she made contact with the local alumane chapter of Gryffindor, and the woman she spoke to said she will keep her informed of any events that are coming up. |

Well, I can assume you can eliminate that one.
And I can also eliminate the one that rarely does it, and the 3 that seem to do it only for alumnae of absorbed locals. However, there are a few that mention being approached by members. And there is a discrepancy between Navane's list here and Ariesrising's list at her site. So I do not know if to count those or not. |

Today has been a good day!
Ravenclaw's alumnae chapter has been contacted. Contacts with both Gryffindor and Hufflepuff said that they would going to pass her information along to nationals and alumnae chapters. *crosses fingers* |
My friend will be meeting with the alumane chapter of Gryffindor soon.

There has been a fifth house added to the mix, Beauxbatons. My friend will be meeting with thier alumane chapter on July 12th. :)

Along with an invite to Beauxbatons on July 12th, my friend has an invite to Slytherin on July 12th. Both groups at the same time. She is going to go to Beauxbatons, because she was invited to thier event first.
She was given paperwork to fill out with Slytherin, but wants to wait to meet some of them in RL before filling it out. She is going to email me updates and I'll try to post as often as I can over the next month and a half. |
I just love that your friend has made such progress so quickly. She certainly will find a perfect home!
