ECW! ECW!

Anybody else watching ECW right now?

docetboy 06-13-2006 10:18 PM

What is ECW?

JonInKC 06-13-2006 10:44 PM

Extreme Championship Wrestling. It was around for a little while in the 90's and then went under. WWE bought the rights to it and is now reviving it.

Thrillhouse 06-14-2006 12:11 AM

I haven't seen it yet but I hope it can make it. Hopefully it will be pretty good on its own and not have a lot of "McMahon influence" on the surface after awhile.

TristanDSP 06-15-2006 03:02 PM

I was sorta dissapointed by the first show. The matches were squash, and the whole Cena/Edge/Van Dam thing was just weird.

Hope the next show is better, but I'm glad ECW is back...though McMahon should have done this when he first purchased ECW, not several years after when wrestling is no longer popular in the mainstream.

I have a dumb question, because my husband watches Raw every week...is McMahon ACTUALLY the owner and chairman of WWE, or is he just an actor like everyone else?? (Yes, I said it, wrestlers are ACTORS)

Yes, he owns the WWE and his family all have a big part in it as well.

Yeah, I know. Shane is one of the incentives for females to watch WWE with their SO (along with the Spirit Squad and John Cena;) :D ).

KatieKate1244 06-16-2006 01:13 PM

We had a poster in the place where I work for the latest ECW pay-per-view event (we show them) and I was looking at it one day because the guy on it really resembles one of my classmates. I then took a closer look and realized this guy HAD NO BODY HAIR. I then had a 20 minute conversation with my co-workers to figure out if he shaved, Naired, or waxed.

JonInKC 06-16-2006 06:31 PM

Hmmm...chicken wings, beer...ecw pay per views...is this hooters we're talking about? Because the one near me doesn't show them... :(

Thrillhouse 06-16-2006 11:00 PM

It's not a cool place to work during a PPV.

I could imagine, we always grab seats at the bar to avoid the crazieness. Some people act as if they are there at the arena and well and chant and stuff like that which is taking it a wee bit too far.

AlphaFrog 06-20-2006 12:18 PM

Ok, am I the only one who thoroughly enjoyed watching the Spirit Squad get totally slimed by DX??

JonInKC 06-20-2006 01:02 PM

DX is back baby! Suck it!

BetteDavisEyes 06-20-2006 01:48 PM

I loved DX when it was first wreaking havoc on Vince. The midget ass thing was funny. I couldn't stop laughing at the sight of 5 midgets mooning the spirit squad.
I had a long conversation w/my husband last night regarding DX & if the other members like the Road Dogg, Billy Gunn & X-Pac would come back. It's hard to tell b/c they've all burned bridges w/Vince. Only time will tell. I think it would be fun if they came back.

Jill1228 06-20-2006 02:16 PM

Mr. 1228 loves ECW (or any type of wrestling)...not my cup of tea

Who's in DX then if not tag team and xpac? Shawn Michaels and Tripple-H

And how they (Vince and Co) did Road Dogg was wrong. They were the best tag team ever.

Thrillhouse 06-20-2006 05:47 PM

I liked it when DX went to an arena that WCW was at and was trying to get wrestlers to come outside.:D

AlphaFrog 06-21-2006 12:43 PM

Hey Jon, if you want a good laugh, try watching Raw on Mun2 (if you have Dish Network)...the Spanish commentary is hilarious. Not to mention them trying to pronounce the wrestler's names. "iiiAqui es Triple Hache!!!"

I don't think it's any funnier than English speaking announcers butchering the names of foreign athletes regardless of the sport.

Yes, but wrestlers don't have names like "Wolfgang Heitzenroder" and "Giovanni Preghi"...they have names like "Umaga" and "Edge" and "The Nature Boy". And listening to them commentate when Rey Misterio or Carlito is up is a trip.

When I was in Mexico for three months, I watched Dukes of Hazard dubbed into Spanish. That was plenty weird.
