Movies

What movies have you seen this summer, or waiting on?

I seen Bad Boy- it was bad.
Jurassic Park #- Not that good.
Scary Movie#2- BF drug me to see that garbage, I'm dating Peter Pan.
Tomb Raider- another movie BF took me too.
Fast and Furious- yes another boyfriend chose, but was pretty good.

I'm waiting on this new movie with Vivaca Fox, seen previews, looks good. It has that fine man in it, from Brothers, Boys N the Hood, etc.

shannieglass 07-22-2001 01:18 PM

I'm waiting to see that movie too..it looks really good..comes out in September, I think

toodles!

ZetaAce 07-23-2001 04:22 PM

I can't list every movie I have been to this summer. That would take me forever since I go to the movies approximately once or twice a week!

Best Movie: Memento!!!!! This movie will blow you away.

Worst: Jurrasic Park III : One word: Ick!

DopeZeta 07-23-2001 04:29 PM

Hey, isn't Vivica Fox a soror of Zeta? I heard she was, then I heard she was an honorary member..... If anyone know, reply back...

blueberi1920 07-31-2001 08:21 PM

I know it won't be a film that makes any kind of impact, but I'm dying to see Rush Hour 2. A sister just wants to laugh, I hope it doesn't go like most other sequels in this world !
That's basically it, i'm a broke/cheapskate(whatever you call it) college student so I wait for most movies to go to cable.

PrettyKitty 07-31-2001 09:10 PM

I went to see Final Fantasy-Definitely worth catching if u like Sci-Fi
Tomb Raider-Wait for Video
Planet of the Apes-Wait for Video
Shrek-cute, more adult humor than kid humor
Atlantis-cute, but younger kids might not get some of it

Hi Soror!

I agree Vivica is not a Zeta. From what I have read and been told Morris Chestnutt is a Sigma. Check out several of our brothers' websites and you will see him listed as a Famous Brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.

just my nineteen dollars and twenty cents worth.

peace...

DivineZeta 08-01-2001 09:57 AM

Yes, Morris Chestnut is a Sigma http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Matter of Fact, he approached a Soror I know in an airport and gave her a hug and said "Hey Soror" when he saw she had on a Zeta T-Shirt.

Shek by the way was really cute and good.
I going to see Rush Hour2 on Friday.
I love Chris Tucker. He's so sexy http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif.

I've been mostly watching videos (catching up from my pre-wedding days when I was putting every spare penny into the event), but I did manage to get out and see Moulin Rouge. It was spectacular! The action might be a bit dizzying to some, but it is truly like nothing else out there at the moment. I *heart* Ewan Macgregor.

I was looking forward to The Planet of the Apes, only because it was a Tim Burton project, but I think I'll wait for the $2 show.

GiggyZ 08-01-2001 01:06 PM

I haven't been to the movies since The Brothers. I know, I know, I am pathetic. LOL

zphib301 08-01-2001 07:07 PM

I just saw The Score this weekend. It was very good with a suprising twist at the end. However, I was really suprised to see that Angela Basset did not look as good as she usually does. Also, I HAD to take my nephew to see Jurassic Park 3 which I am happy to say was much better than I expected. There was a lot of blood though.

Soror, I am not sure who told you that Urban Greek Legend, but he is NOT a member of Phi Beta Sigma. I am on 4 Blue and White listserves, as well as the Zeta listserve, and there was a discussion some time back about it and members of Phi Beta Sigma said that he is not a Sigma. They said that he was asked to be honorary, but he turned it down.

FYI

Just like you'll read on several Zeta sites that Jasmine Guy, Halle Berry, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Jane Kennedy are Zetas...go figure. Check with the IHQ's of both organiZations. Not all information on chapter websites is accurate, but I know, at least for Zeta, that we have a list of Notable Sorors on our National Site.

Hey, but at least they got Malik Yoba, Nelson Mandela, and Blaire Underwood...

Well I wouldn't call it an urban greek legend. Maybe an "untruth" that I was told.
I emailed Sigma Nationals with the question anyway.
But I trust you know what your talking about.

With a lists of hundreds of Sorors and Frat on there, I don't see why they would have any reason to make it up. It was news to me as well when I first heard it.

Greek Urban Legend is my catch phrase for all the stuff floating around over the net and otherwise that is not true...I could go on for days...but I'll leave it there.

Planet of the Apes- Good, but not great. It was an action flick and didn't have the same cleverness the original had. The ending was just terrible.

This week is Rush Hour 2 and Original Sin!

DOVE1920 08-03-2001 03:02 PM

Has anyone seen the following movie:
Kiss of the Dragon? I love Jet Li but haven't had the oppurtunity to see that yet. I did see Planet of the Apes and I thought the costume and makeup jobs were awesome. It didn't really seem to have a point but it aiiight. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

CelestialBlu1 08-04-2001 01:23 PM

i've seen jurassic park 3 and planet of the apes so far...both were good...i'll probably go see tomb raider and the new rush hour next...and artificial intelligence if its not gone by the time i get around to it...

Sorors, I must admit, I very rarely go to the movies-I usually wait for anything good I want to see on video. But someone gave me four movie passes recently, so I might go see some the movies y'all have recommended on here-thanks for all the suggestions!

I saw The Others. it wasn't that bad, I was kinda scared, the ending was a trip though.

Has anyone seen the Score? how was it?

ZetaAce 08-15-2001 09:31 AM

I saw Kiss of The Dragon. I liked the fight scenes, but otherwise wait for DVD.

American Pie 2 was Hilarious!!! I didn't realize till after the movie was over that it didn't really have a plot http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif (I wasn't expecting it to!)

The Others was creepy. It wasn't one of those scary movies that makes you jump out of your seat, but I enjoyed it.

DarknLovlieZeta 08-15-2001 09:52 PM

Rush Hour 2 is a tight movie. I can say that that movies is probably better than the first. Anyone agree/disagree?
I haven't seen The Others, but I love scary movies, and i might see that tonite.
Toodles, Sorors....

I liked the movie, it was funny. The end was dissapointing but I kept seeing that beautiful black man Morris! :D So it made up for it. What do y'all think?

I saw the movie with three of my girlfriends, and we actually liked it. So many folks had compared to "The Brothers," which was such a bad movie, that my expectations were very low. We laughed aloud several times, and thought it was quite funny, so I wasn't disappointed with it, and it was a pleasant diversion.

blueberi1920 10-01-2001 05:40 PM

I cried!

Heart in Atlantis with Anthony Hopkins was such a good movie. Did anyone else see it? Bobby was such a good person, he had such a good heart. Children are the best sometimes

Also I say "Don't say A word" It was good. But why does Micheal Douglas have a young wife in this movie too? He must have it written in his contracts. ;)

PrettyKitty 10-06-2001 12:16 PM

I saw Training Day , last night with my mom. It was a very dark movie...It was interesting to see DenZel Washington play the bad guy for a change...I couldn't help but still route for him due to his extra-positive image...I can't really say that I strong recommend seeing it though...but I'd say you'd have to check it out for yourself...

DopeZeta 10-09-2001 08:29 PM

Okay...It's craZy but..Zoolander was Hilarious. My best friend and I were dying during the entire thing.
