Paris' new Album

Paris Hilton Plans Reggae, Hip Hop Album

She said she had to overcome shyness to become a singer.

"I have always had a voice and always known I could sing, but I was too shy to let it come out. I think that is the hardest thing you can do, to sing in front of people. When I finally let go and did it, I realized it is what I am most talented at and what I love to do the most," Hilton said.
Story on MSN

Ugg. I have never heard someone talk like that about their own voice, and I went to school with dozens of extremely talented singers. Even most professional singers don't say that kind of stuff. In fact, most people don't care for their own voices, no matter how good they are.

Oh REALLLLYYYY?! Hmm...I had 2 thoughts when I read this statement.
1. You really don't have much talent then do you?

2. Are you sure that's what your MOST talented at? I swear I thought it was giving blowjobs and spreading crabs around.

I had those thoughts also.:)

Reggae and Hip Hop?!?!?!

I read that the name of her first single is "Stars Are Blind". Apparently, Stars Are Deaf as well if she thinks singing is her greatest talent.

:(

KSUViolet06 05-30-2006 06:10 PM

See, if she were doing something pop-like (like Lindsay Lohan did), at least someone might buy it, but reggae hip hop?

*waits for Rollergirl2001 to come in and admonish us for "bashing" Paris*

I'll add that to the list of albums I won't be buying. :)

Anyone actually hear her sing? Maybe she isn't that bad.

If she has an excellent voice or an interesting sound, would those of you that are hostile reverse your opinions?

If Britney Spears suddenly learned to sing, I doubt she'd start selling albums. Certain stars have trashed themselves beyond repair, and Paris is one of them.

I have her song "Stars Are Blind" on my myspace (link in my sig) and I actually kinda like the song. It's like liking Ashlee Simpson, you know she's not perfect, but she's totally fun to listen to so ya do. Or you just talk crap forever and don't enjoy a "fun" song, but yeah I don't hate Paris' music at all (at least not this song).

G8Ralphaxi 06-05-2006 11:27 AM

there's a link on perezhilton.com where you can listen to the song too.

It's not terrible, but not really my kind of music. will probably get a decent amount of play on pop radio stations and clubs. IMHO it's at least easier to tolerate than ashlee.

Paris' singing sounds a little like Gwen Stefani. also obvious that there was a lot of technology put into the song...i'm curious what she sounds like without all the digital support.

I heard 'Stars are Blind' on the radio this morning. She needs to stick to not eating and being a moron, or whatever it is that she does.

Sinking her perfectly manicured claws into rich Greeks...I think that's her raison d'être.

G8Ralphaxi 06-06-2006 01:13 PM

here we go - an explanation of the technology required to transform Miss Hilton into a "singer" -

from foxnews.com:

Quote:

To get Paris to sound like such an accomplished singer, her producers fattened up the skinny heiress' sound by layering her voice upon her voice -- several times. The echo effect is almost imperceptible, but it manages to erase any trace of thinness. It also erases any trace of identity.

Don't expect Hilton to tour with this tune or any of the other songs on her upcoming album, because this is a studio-magic CD -- where the knob-twisting production is so complicated that it would be nearly impossible to reproduce the sonics in a live performance.

Still, expect to see a lot of Miss Hilton on MTV this summer.

AlphaFrog 06-06-2006 02:12 PM

What??? No "Blowjob World Tour"??

It could still happen. It wouldn't be like she was the first singer to lip-sync all her songs on tour...though usually it's been done because of the intensive choreography the singer has to do.

"Paris Hilton" and "intense physical activity" don't belong anywhere near eachother in a sentance. Well, unless it's intense SEXUAL activity.

kddani 06-08-2006 12:57 PM

I haven't heard the entire song yet, but i've seen clips of the video. It makes me motion sick with all the zooming in and out and bouncing around.

The video has pretty much been torn apart by critics/reviewers . . .

The song is just kind of watered down and blah - it's a weird combination of LFO's "Summer Girls" and Len's "Steal My Sunshine" with some weird Blondie bass thrown in.

TheBestOfYou 06-25-2006 02:23 AM

Like the song, hate the video. I see that I'm alone here but I actually like Paris. I can't loathe someone I've never met, but she doesn't seem as bad as people paint her out to be (save for a few choice moments). I watch The Simple Life on E! every darn week and can't help but notice how well-behaved and sweet she is. That's of course partially for our benefit, but compared to Nicole she's a relative angel!

ZTAngel 06-25-2006 10:23 AM

I can hear the echo-effect that G8Ralphaxi's quoted article discusses. It's very obvious that the producers synthesized the hell out of that song.

I do admit that the song is catchy. I would never buy her album or download her song but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Unfortunately for Paris, I can't see this song doing very well. Like someone else mentioned, her image is tarnished and even if she could sing like Celine, Christina or Mariah, her song would still be panned by critics.

KDAngel 06-25-2006 05:18 PM

Her song is the #1 requested song in NY right now and one of the top 5 in the country... and I said to say I like it, but I totally do. I'm not saying she's some great singer, but the song is entertaining and I like listening to it. :)

kddani 06-25-2006 05:34 PM

Maybe she's getting air play in NY because she lives there or something? And top 5 in the country accoring to what source? She's not even on the
chart on Billboard.

Still have NOT heard it on the radio here in Pittsburgh. And our main pop station is KISS, which has stations throughout the country.

texas*princess 06-25-2006 09:34 PM

I don't think it's too terribly horrible...but it's not something I would run out and go buy.

The video looks ridiculous by the way. I think some website called it a "4 minute CK commercial".. which sums it up very nicely

Not to be the huge music nerd, but the 'effect' the producers used is actually pretty ingenious - instead of simply 'cleaning' the sound with ProTools-style effects, they actually took all of her takes and layered them on top of each other, over and over again. By doing this, they 'deepened' the sound - the theory is that she's not a good singer, but she's close enough that she's just barely missing, so the imperfections come out in the wash through the layers.

It's interesting - but it also means anyone can do it w/ enough time in the studio, so prepare to see a shitload of these types of albums now . . .

I saw the second half of the video for "Stars Are Blind" on MTV Hits this morning. My first thought was "Oh, Jessica Simpson has a new single out already?" Then I heard the chorus and realized who it was.

I'm guessing you've heard it on there by now...I did and almost drove off the road.

I don't know why they're playing this dreck when I haven't heard the Christina A. song on the radio ONCE.

Carmella 09-06-2006 12:33 PM

I love the single 'Stars Are Blind'..I think it's very catchy...at first I thought it was either Gwen Stefani or Kylie Minogue.

Anyways, I'm guilty of downloading her CD..the curiosity gotten the best of me...and it really isnt that bad...but some of the lyrics are sickening to the stomach...like in the song with Fat Joe & Jadakiss...basically all she says is "Every Time I turn around the boys fighting over me...maybe because I'm so so so sexy..All the boys all the silly boys they wanna fight over me"..To be honest, I only liked 3 or 4 songs from her CD...the rest are ...ehhhhh...but at the same time, her album isnt that bad imo.
