How Many Starbucks are there in your general vicinity?
There's TEN (TEN!) Starbucks in a three mile radius around San Diego State University that I KNOW OF.....
Can't any of you just brew your own coffee and spend save a shitload of money? Is the privledge of saying "venti" instead of "large" worth the dent in your wallet? |
There are nine within 5 miles of my work (although the airport is less then five miles from my work, so that accounts for 2 or 3). I live out in the middle of nowhere (compared to Charlotte) so there's only 4 Starbuck within 10 miles of my home.
|
There's one one on either side of my office building
|
There's one near my office, but there are more Dunkin Donuts around (at least two within a 1 minute walk from my office).
|
I can think of 11 that I can get to within 10 minutes of my house.
|
I thought there weren't many around my 'hood, but according to a search on their website, there are 42 Starbucks within five miles of my house. The hell?!
I haven't been to a Starbucks in forever, because I'm the kind of coffee snob who likes to make my own coffee every day. They do make a mean soy mocha, though. |
There is one in the mall, and one run by campus foodservice. The next closest are the two in Pullman about ten miles away. I don't count the campus one as it is only open during the school year and is in the dorms.
|
According to the Starbucks store locator on their website, there are 27 retail Starbucks within a five mile radius of my office.
There are 9 within 5 miles of my home way out in the burbs. The closest is in a Safeway store within a quarter of a mile. Glad I don't drink coffee. Valkyrie, that's what you get for living in the yuppy part of town. (Ducking now) |
From my condo, I can walk to at least six Starbuckses in five minutes or less. And I don't even live on the west coast!
These are the coffee places (that I can think of) in the Yonge/Bloor/Avenue Road area in Toronto: Starbucks: at least 6 Tim Hortons: At least 2 Timothy's World Coffee: 3 (used to be 4) Second Cup: 2 Lettieri: 3 Whole Foods, Pusateri's (a family owned grocery store) and The Coffee Mill (the oldest remaining coffee house in Toronto, according to their menus) also sell coffee-to-go. |
The closest one from me at school is an hour and a half...the closest one from home is about an hour and fifteen minutes. However, we have a much, much better coffeeshop like 10 minutes from my house...I'm not a huge Starbucks fan.

There's one in our cafeteria about 1 minute walk from my office.
But then, this is their home...... But I rarely go there since I hate coffee. If I need a Chai Latte, I make a better one myself at home and I stop at the smaller place by my house (passed the Starbuck's) if I feel I must. |
We have one ON campus, yes on campus...( along with two other dunkin donuts, and a mary lous super close ).
Other than that, I have no idea. |

Wow middle of nowhere much? |
There are nine within 5 miles of my house according to their website but it doesn't list two more that I know are around.
There are eighteen within 5 miles of my school, but I go to school downtown and am within 5 miles of the University of Minnesota which is apparently bursting with them. |

I like Caribou better but I usually make my own tea or hot chocolate in the microwaves because I am poor. |

There are 182 Starbucks within 5 miles of my home. I swear they or Dunkin' Donuts are on every other block in Manhattan, but I have purchased Starbucks products (hot chocolate) only twice in my entire life.
Dunkin' Donuts has 69 stores located within 5 miles of my home. |

? is the Pub in Safeway or Star!ucks? An interesting Concept either way! |

Well, there may be a tax office between the liquor store and pub, come to think of it -- but I don't go in there. |
There are 20 within a five mile radius of my office in Lower Manhattan, but one of them doesn't really count because it's in Brooklyn.
There are "only" 5 within a five mile radius of my house, and to get to 4 of them you have to get on the highway. |
There are 12 within a 5 mile radius of my condo; and I live at the edge of town! Only 2 are within a 2 mile radius though.
There's 6 within 2 miles of my parents house and 20 within 5 miles. :) |
There is only 1 within 5 miles of my zip code. Something odd though.. apparently there is a zip code in Texas that is identical to my zip code in Michigan. This is the second Store Locator thing I did that also listed a bunch in Texas with the same zip code. I thought Zip Codes were unique...
ETA: Just checked on the Postal Service web site and apparently the zip code for that city in TX is not the same. Some store locators are clearly off somehow. |
The closest Starbucks to me is 30 minutes south:(
|
There's one about a mile from my house. And there's three in East Lansing which is less than 10 miles away. Beaner's seems to be more popular here.
|
In my neck of the burbs, there's 3 Starbucks, 1 Dunkin Donuts, and 1 Gloria Jean's in a five minute drive.

There's ONE Starbucks within 5 miles of where I live - and that's the one in Albertsons. :p You just need to get out of San Diego into the boondocks, Stan :D |
Today I actually went to one Starbucks, decided I didn't like the seating arrangements (because I was going to study with some friends), and drove across the street to the other one. Literally, directly across the street, about 40 yards from each other. And this is in River Oaks, one of the nicest parts of Houston, yet very close to some not so nice areas.
But my Starbucks experience today was not a great one. The hoity toity barista threw out a blind guy. Seriously, this was the most disturbing thing I've seen in a while. I don't know if this guy comes in to their store a lot or something, but this lady that works there asks him to leave. He starts yelling "Why is it that every time I come in here, you think I'm begging? This is bull$hit! Never mind, I don't want your coffee anyways! I'm sorry for ruining your little coffee shop!" And he goes out the door, and into the parking lot, and almost walks right into the street. He throws his cane into the street and a car runs it over. So I'm watching in horror, and this guy runs out and pulls the guy away from the street, and stops traffic to go pick the guy's cane up. The guy walks the blind dude over to a table outside, and then gets some money from the guy and comes in and buys him a coffee. The guy talks to the lady that threw the guy out, so maybe she told him the whole story about this blind guy. And I did see this rich lady pull a $20 out and give it to the guy when he was still in the store. So I have no idea, maybe this blind dude does come in all the time and prey on the rich Starbucks drinkers. But his little scene sure did make that barista look like a cold, heartless bitch. |
I live in a not-so-major city in eastern Washington and there are four Starbucks within a five minute drive of my apartment. Two of my good friends work at the closest one, so I wind up there a lot. In fact, I'm drinking a white chocolate frappachino right now. =)
|
In the Orlando area, Starbucks are EVERYWHERE. Damn things are sprouting up everywhere like dandelions.
Now they are engaging in hostile takeovers of other coffee shops. I just read that Starbucks is buying all of the Barnie's shops in the malls. Barnie's is WAY better than Starbucks. If they close the one on Park Ave. I'm going to lose my mind. |
Umm....three of the ten in my vicinity are on campus...and NONE of them were there when I first started at State....
They're taking over!!!!! Quote:

There are 6 within 5 miles and 20 within 10 miles according to their website. I go to Starbucks during the holidays to get there special holiday blends, like the peppermint mocha, but rarely beyond that. Their coffee is generally too strong for me. However,if I do get a craving between times for it, several of the groceries stores around me sell it and I will just buy a package and brew my own at home.
|
There are only 2 in my entire city. I prefer the coffee drinks at Panera to Starbucks.
|
According to their website there are 24 within a 5 mile radius of my home. Good thing I don't go often, I'd be poor.
|
There are at least 10 within a 10 mile radius. But I have only been to the one at my university.
|
2 within 5 miles of my home.
