Opening Day ~ MLB 2006

http://www.mlb.com/mlb/images/events...dr_758_mlb.gif

Tonight, the world champion Chicago White Sox will battle the Cleveland Indians, opening up the 162-game regular season of Major League Baseball. Most teams will start play Monday.

Screw the World Baseball Classic, screw Spring Training! The Regular Season is here!!!!!

If I have my way, I'll be at Kauffman in one week watching the Royals play the White Sox. But for sure, I'll be in Chicago at the end of the month rooting for my cubs!

polarpi 04-02-2006 01:40 AM

I can't wait - I got invited to go to Opening Day of the Padres' season on Monday evening with a friend

Now, hope that it doesn't get rained out!

My friend invited me to Phillies opening day, but I couldn't go due to the fact that she talked to me about this on too short of notice and plus...I just had a lot of things going on today...classes...choir rehearsal...meetings...the usual humdrum routine. Bummer. Oh well. Maybe we can go there another time. I'm not much of a baseball fan but today I saw clips on the news from opening day and I really wanted to be there.

KSigkid 04-04-2006 08:37 AM

So the Yankees went off on Zito last night. I wasn't expecting that.

tinydancer 04-04-2006 08:53 AM

The Phillies started off in fine fashion.:(
Every year I think maybe I won't be disappointed.

No matter what, you'll get to watch Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins every day. That's not such a bad thing.

valkyrie 04-04-2006 11:44 AM

This? Totally made my day, LOL.

I didn't even see the incident until I got home and caught the news coverage - while it's not a *great* image of San Diego fans, I had to laugh at Bonds's comments, myself :p

And what a heck of a game to see - SO glad I went! :D

UGH. Polarpi, you don't understand how LUCKY you are for having Petco. It's my favorite stadium...EVER. So nice, and in such a nice area. Sure there may be some nicer ballparks (I can't think of any) ,but no one can beat San Diego, the Gaslamp, 5 dollar all access pass, the WOMEN.

Seriously. I am so jealous. I <3 Petco

Oh, I love Petco myself - it's weird right now, as they're continuing to "build-up" around the park, so you see A LOT of cranes and building shells around the outfield. Part of me feels that it's taking away from the original idea behind building the park downtown :(

I just wish I could get to more games throughout the season - I love me my Padres! :)

The Sausage Guy - the best in the business. You have one of those with a beer, and you're pretty much set for the day.

It's not opening day, but I'm going to the SF game here to heckle Barry Bonds. I could make a little pincushion Barry Bonds voodoo doll complete with syringes and cream, and throw it at him.

LOL You're crazy man. You should see how Dodger fans treat him. I don't speak spanish, but I'm sure what they say is very very mean.
