NCAA Championship

Me and my brother keep going back and forth on who is going to win this years NCAA Championship. He is saying University of North Carolina and I say Duke University. I want to know who everyone else is pulling for in this Tournament!!!! (and by the way Carolina got beat by GMU so they are out of the running )

I guess your brother is eating a HUGE helping of humble pie right now, UNC got cut from the dance early! :p

jitterbug13 03-24-2006 01:56 AM

Duke got eleminated tonight,:( so no one from the Triangle area will be representing.

JustMyself 03-24-2006 08:27 AM

:( Yeah now that Duke's out, it's no need for me to continue to watch the tournament. :(

I picked Texas vs. UConn in the final game.

as long as Duke is out I'm cool. ....I liked the way Glen "Big Baaaaaby" Davis and the boys at LSU played last night, so they may be Cinderella team at this point in the tourney.

Whatevea

IntegriTY1908 03-24-2006 05:17 PM

Unbelievable

I was watching the game last night hoping that Duke would pull through but JJ just had the worst game of his career he just couldnt make any thing happen So I have to really give credit to the LSU defense they were phenomenal they pretty much dominated the game defensively. I am so sad to see Duke go but you cant win them all now that they are out I think UCONN may just win the whole thing!

CountryGurl 03-24-2006 06:31 PM

I'm pulling for LSU since a fellow McKinley High graduate is on the team....GO THOMAS!!!

Obsession8 03-24-2006 10:33 PM

Well, with the exception of TonyB06, I'm glad I'm not the only Duke fan here on GC. Co-sign with what all the others said. I had their loss practically rubbed in my face today with all the people on campus wearin' LSU para! Hayle, I bet most of dem folk don't even watch the tourney!!!

Anywho, I really don't care at this point. I'm watching right now; BC and 'Nova goin' to overtime. I'm pullin' for BC; they're a scrappy team.

I think it might be UConn and Texas in the final, but I don't want the Huskies to win. I'm still bitter about '99. :(

Thanks for starting this thread! :)

I had no rooting interest (my alma mater wasn't good this year),b but I am intrigued at LSU because, of course, the Diesel Father came from there and this Glen Davis has drawn some comparisons to Shaquille, although there's only one Daddy. :p

DSTinguished1 03-25-2006 12:47 PM

Uconn scared me last night...but I hope they go all the way! :)

LMBO... I should have known any reference to the Diesel, no matter how tangential, would draw the interest of AKA's most sartorially-decorated west coast soror.

I'm not even going to lie. I don't start watching b-ball until March Madness. The season is just too long. Give me football anyday. That said....

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!

Our first trip to the Final Four in 20 years!

ETA: 20 years for the men that is. Our Lady Tigers are still going strong. Go on Pokey and company. Do your thing!

Well, yes (the BC part) and no (UConn's still in it...for now). It's called March Madness for a reason...all the more reason I love it. :p

I'm torn over LSU. Yes, it *IS* nice to see the "home team" make it to the Final Four, esp. for the state of Louisiana's sake, post-Katrina (similar to the Yankees in the World Series post-9/11). But, my bottom line is that I don't root for teams that beat my beloved Blue Devils...never have, never will. Period. I *do* give credit where credit is due, however; "Big Baaaaby" Davis *is* a force to be reckoned with. LSU deserves to be there.

For now, I'm just gonna let the chips fall where they may and wait for the FF field to be set before I make any more predictions that will continue to blow my bracket all to hayle.

LET THE MADNESS CONTINUE!!! :D

George Mason shocked UConn 86-84 in OT Sunday to become the first No. 11 seed to reach the Final Four since 1986.

With Florida's win today, this makes the first time since 1980 that the Final Four consists of NO #1 seeds. Also for the first time in who knows how long, the Final Four does not consists of any teams from the Big Ten or the ACC conferences. I guess this is the year the Big Schools got schooled.

My choice for championship game: LSU v. George Mason

LSU will win, but barely.

Amazing, isn't it? :p

I see LSU in the title game, too. But, that's all I'll say for now.

Jill1228 03-27-2006 12:24 AM

I am shocked that my old school (Mason) is now in the Final 4! :o
Mr. 1228 is drinking a lot of Haterade because I am now spanking him in the tourney picks

unspokenone25 03-27-2006 01:38 PM

My choice is also LSU v. George Mason.

AKA2D '91 03-27-2006 01:50 PM

I am soooooo happy for all of the SOUL Tigers across the land!

:D

IntegriTY1908 03-27-2006 07:08 PM

I am so happy for George Mason what a run they are having I get so emotional when they play because they play with SO much Heart and you gotta love it when the underdog wins it just feels good!!!

I think if they continue to play with the intensity, skill and HEART they have been playing with they have a very good chance of becoming NCAA champions 2006

Never underestimate the power of HEART, Completly M.A.D.E. so I Know all about that !!!!!!!!!!but back to the subject CONGRADS GMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wish DUKE could have done this well!

CountryGurl 03-28-2006 12:08 AM

Both Men & Women Tigers will win it all!!!

Indy and Btown are you ready for the T. Thomas and S. Augustus show?!?:D

Me too (*cry, sniffle, sniffle*)! :(

We'll see what happens next year. J.J. and Shelden will certainly be missed, but I hear "we" have a good recruiting class coming in...should be interesting to see. :)

My blood will forever flow royal blue, baby! :D

But, for now, good luck to......

IntegriTY1908 03-29-2006 10:21 PM

I dont think Duke has a very good chance of winning the tournament next year They had everything they needed to win this year JJ just choked, had a bad game whatever you want to call it but ofcourse I will be routing for them again next year I always have and I always will!

jitterbug13 03-30-2006 12:16 AM

At least Duke Women's made the Final Four!:D

Has anyone noticed that all of the women's teams are from southern conferences? Duke, UNC and Maryland are from the ACC and LSU is in the SEC.

I know; they don't. Co-sign about J.J. There's always wishful thinking though, right? ;)

LET'S GO DEVILS (rootin' for the ladies now!)!!! :D

AKA_blackbarbie 03-31-2006 05:06 PM

I am so happy my Tigers are doing the damn thang on both sides. I have been prancing around my offices wearing my LSU stuff , talking trash and taking numbers. We beat the Dukies on the Men's Side and we will do it on the women's side.

I am so proud of those teams. I coached half of the boys in track when they were in highschool and tutored the girls and they have come a long way.

Seimone Augustus is the best basketball player in the country and all she needs is a championship to prove it!
So Go Tigers And Lets Bring Both Championships Back To The House!

CountryGurl 04-02-2006 01:36 PM

Man my fellas didn't play worth a ....

Hopefully the ladies can bring it home.

TonyB06 04-02-2006 04:03 PM

for some unexplainable reason, I am completely uninterested in Monday's night's final match up.

maybe LeBron and the Cavs will be on....

You're not the only one. Besides Duke (and my general loyalty to the ACC), I've always liked UCLA (and a few other Pac-10 teams). It kinda happened "by default" since I lived in Alaska. I was a bit sad when the annual spring Duke-UCLA matchups fell by the wayside. :(

Nice to see the Bruins back in championship form goin' for that 12th title, baby! :D

Yeah it is. I think it really boils down to them sucking most of the year and coming out of nowhere to make it this far. We'll see what happens. I have class until 6:00 tonite and Pauley Pavilion is showing the game to students/faculty/staff for free...popcorn, snax and all. I will have a helluva time getting off campus I'm sure. I just wish them the best. I am not a fanatic so I won't lose any sleep, but again...

GO BRUINS!!!
