Chants
Any of y'all have any chants you use during rush or after winning a sporting event? We're lacking some brotherhood right now, and while it's a small step, I think having a chant to use after winning a game would help out some...
|
Born on a mountaintop? :D
(if you have not heard of that, you really ought to PM me) -- actually, here's one that's a little more appropriate. Coauthored by MT 2 and MT 7. Brothers tight walls high others fear snakes pride Sigma Nu Sigma Nu Snakes 'til we Die. You know damned well from the firey gates of hell for the Sigma Nu Snakes Tolls the mother fuckin' bell (explative omitted in public) (Leader)Who are we? (All)The snakes (Leader)Whoa re we? (All)The snakes (Leader)If you want to find the champs (All)Just find the snakes. [Most chants do sound pretty bad when you write them down] |
Haha, yeah, I know the Born on a Mountain top chant. Might suggest that. Is that a Sigma Nu only chant, or do other fraternities use that as well?
|
Chant.
Here at Kappa Lambda chapter we use: after the creed of course.
Give a yell Give a yell Give a good substantial yell and when we yell we yell like hell and this is what we yell Sig rah Sig rah Sig ma Nu HEY! I thought I told you! I Thought you knew! If it ain't Sigma Nu It ain't SH*T! |
Zeta Iota and Zeta Kappa (San Jose and Fresno State Universities respectively) have a sort of shared chant....not sure if other chapters have it also:
We're SIGMA NU FRATERNITY We're RIDERS OF THE NIGHT! We're DIRTY SONS OF BITCHES BUT WE'D RATHER FUCK THAN FIGHT! SO HIDY-TIDY-Christ-Almighty Who the hell are WE? Bim-Bam God-damn we're fraternity Shit piss son of a bitch rah rah fuck RAH RAH SIGMA NU RAH RAH FUCK Zeta Kappa's version is a bit different |
Born in the backwoods
Raised on a log Eyes like an aligator Nose like a Hog I've got two steel balls and a 20" rod I'm a mean motherfucker I'm a Sigma Nu by God! - Dan Cameron |
Hy-Rickety is a classic every house should use in some form. We yelled/chanted in a circular huddle of about 50 guys after ANY kind of victory (all-sports or even recruitment) and went like this:
"Hy-Rickety whoop-de-doo, We're the Men of Sigma Nu! Hullibaloo, Terickahoo All together for Sigma Nu, HEY!!" then i have one that is more specific for our school where it has the names of a few other rival houses. I won't list that in public, but if you are extremely curious I can maybe send it non-publicly. |
See if I can remember this one....
Take your sweatheart to the corner, where the light's are dim and low, put your right hand on her bossum and the other down below. When she starts to shake and quiver and she begs you for a screw, tell her that's the secret handshake of the men of Sigma Nu. |
Bumped for dover.

Here's to southern whores and prostitution
civil wars and revolution sigma nu's who like to fight and southern girls who f*ck all night (sub f*ck for "go" in public) |
our most used were:
"Born on a mountain top, raised by a bear" and "Take your sweatheart to the corner" and "I hail from the state of Oklahoma" and "Here's to brother 'name here' " and "Delta Delta Delta, we are pissin on your lawn" and that's all I can remember for now. |
Those are cool and all... But anyone have any chants that are a little more laid back? Ie. no expletives, derogatory stuff etc.
|
I couldn't agree more then with what Strubbe said, especially since this is just something for my (gamma) class to come together. On my end of it that is.
|
There's one I posted in this thread which is very easy to clean up.
|
Our chapter has never really done chants.
|
Not even the Creed after meetings?
We would roll out into the field behind the house (behind every Frat house and sorority house) and make a huge circule, join crossed hands, put the pledges in the middle, and yell the creed. That's how my gf would know we were done, and she could come over. And she was WAY at the end of sorority row . |

This was one of our more clean ones, and its done to the tune of the Notre Dame Victory March.
Cheer, cheer for old Sigma Nu, You bring the whiskey, I'll bring the brew. Send the pledges out for gin, and don't let the fucking PI KAPPS in! We never stumble, we never fall, we sober up on grain alcohol. When we yell we YELL LIKE HELL, We're the brothers of Sigma Nu. We also did "Born on a Mountain Top". Kitso KS 361 |
haha, love that one aggie!

Our former Commander went to Grand Chapter and taught it to a bunch of other chapters, since no one had known it apparently. I recently taught it to Epsilon Zeta (Florida) when I went up there to reinstall them. How long has that chant been with your chapter? |
Theta Eta (Northern Illinois University) Toast
hey guys, 1 of our brothers thought of this toast last year when we were still a colony & the ladies love it her @ NIU & I think it is pretty bad ass so here it is.
"Heres to the night, here's to you, here's to the ladies, here's to the brew, here's to the brothers of sigma nu!" And we use a couple chants before sporting event but heres 1 that sounds bad ass: Leader: Gentlemen! WHO ARE WE!! Group: SNU, SNU, SNU OW OOO!!! |

Congrats on getting rechartered. Hell of a job. |
Thanks for that, hope the Theta Eta chapter can make all of you guys proud to call us brothers. Just to kind of fill you guys in on what we have done out here....
1st off our chapter closed in 1996-1997 due to financial problems and thought it would be best to close before things got worse. Our alum out here kept meeting and decided to try to come back on campus in 2004 and after being accepted decided to wait because 2 other fraternities began at that time both of which are barely at 20-30 guys today and struggle in all aspects. So they waited until the fall of 2006 where we had our "alpha" class of 17 men & since then we have had the highest GPA 2 out of 3 semesters, the 3rd 1 being 2nd place to a new fraternity of 10men vs us at 39 men, we have participated in almost every philanthropy, won a floor hockey championship, got our first house in fall of 2007 and now are moving into 1 of the biggest houses on campus from a house of 12 rooms to a house of 24 rooms and are now a chapter of 50 men. We hope to do a lot more and hope to out do ourselves with every opportunity we can. Thank you for your support and hope we can do everything up to everyone's expectations. |
