Sorority Expansion
 

Coastal Carolina University has three sororities presenting their information for a new colony! Currently, there are three NPC sororities:

Current NPC Sororities:
Gamma Phi Beta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Sigma Sigma


Presenting are:
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Phi Mu

At this time, I don't know what the quota was, or what Total is. Good luck to all presenters!

We presented earlier in the week. I am not sure when the others are.

ADPi has already presented, too - which leaves the ladies of Phi Mu. My "inside information" seems to have come a tad late in the game, but I knew y'all would want to know. :)

I am very sorry to offend you but I am having a tombstone engraved with the letters C J A. An I need them to me in greek. Can you help me????? please,,,,,

Ok, I'll bite:

There isn't a Greek letter specifically for C. If what C stands for sounds like a K then it's a Kappa: K if it sounds like a Ch than it's a Chi: Cand if it's an S sound it's a Sigma:S

J is Iota:I

A is Alpha: A

So CIA
KIA
SIA

WPI is also expanding. There is currently Alpha Gamma Delta and Phi Sigma Sigma on campus. Sororities presenting are:

Alpha Omicron Pi
Sigma Sigma Sigma
Alpha Xi Delta

Nice - they have a pretty big Greek system there, don't they? An old friend of mine is a Lambda Chi alum from the school.

Right now it's, I believe, 11 fraternities and 2 sororities. But it's a fairly strong system. The sorority expansion will be good, because from what I've heard there's a lot of competition between the two groups and I think a third will balance that out.

Oh! and I've met a few of the Lambda Chi alums from the AGD alums.

... and I thought that this thread was going to be about a sorority that did a bit too much over-eating.

AOII is pleased to announce that we will be colonizing at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology next month and the University of Arkansas in the fall as well as the University of La Verne!

Thats really great that we are colonizing at WPI. We also just recently colonized at Monmoth University.

Congratulations to all who are expanding. About AOII's expansion at the U. of Arkansas, specifically, a news report on U. of Arkansas Board of Trustees actions says that the trustees have approved the construction of a new AOII sorority house there.

Edited to add: Please see the 4-5-06 post by irishpipes later in this thread. According to that post, the info below from the news report referenced in this posting is incorrect. Thank you, irishpipes.

The plans are for a 30,000 square foot house with 85 beds at a cost of $7 to $8 million. The trustees have approved the architects and construction company, as well as a land lease arrangement. The article is available through nwaonline.net at

The article headline is "University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Notes," and the AOII news has a secondary headline (scroll down) "Board Approves New Sorority House."

So it looks like housing is in the works! I thought this article was also interesting for the insight it gives on some of the the potential cost of expansion at a major SEC school. (By the way, there's also an article on trustee approval of a Sigma Nu fraternity house in the same "notes" of the trustees' meeting.)

This information is incorrect. No plans have been finalized at this time, and the cost estimate is not even ballpark.

Phi Sigma Sigma Expansion
 

Phi Sigma Sigma colonized last month at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. I'm not sure what other sororities are already at Barry University.


Also, Phi Sigma Sigma has been invited to colonize this Fall at Grand Valley State University in Allendale Michigan. At Grand Valley, Phi Sigma Sigma joins a strong Greek community that includes five National Panhellenic Conference sororities – Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa.

There is currently only one other NPC at Barry (Alpha Phi) and one multicultural. We closed our chapter there recently.

Tom, unless you can magically increase the number of women going through recruitment and pledging there, expansion won't happen no matter how many times you write it down. The "old blood" might be offended by that, actually - it sounds like you want to get rid of them at the expense of new sororities.
