Sorority Expansion

Coastal Carolina University has three sororities presenting their information for a new colony! Currently, there are three NPC sororities:

Current NPC Sororities:
Gamma Phi Beta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Sigma Sigma

Presenting are:
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Phi Mu

At this time, I don't know what the quota was, or what Total is. Good luck to all presenters!

aopirose 03-10-2006 01:41 PM

Yes, good luck to the presenters!

All good choices - best of luck to the presenters.

Aphigal 03-10-2006 04:04 PM

Best of luck.

When are presentations?

aopirose 03-10-2006 05:05 PM

We presented earlier in the week. I am not sure when the others are.

honeychile 03-11-2006 01:13 AM

ADPi has already presented, too - which leaves the ladies of Phi Mu. My "inside information" seems to have come a tad late in the game, but I knew y'all would want to know. :)

help me find the greek letters for cja

Hello,
I am trying to find the greek letters for C J A Please help!!!!!!

AGPhiBete 03-14-2006 09:28 PM

Relevance?

Not to play 'Cop' but what does that have to do with Expansion?

mooselover 03-14-2006 09:33 PM

I sorry to offend you !!!

I am very sorry to offend you but I am having a tombstone engraved with the letters C J A. An I need them to me in greek. Can you help me????? please,,,,,

Drolefille 03-14-2006 10:28 PM

Ok, I'll bite:

There isn't a Greek letter specifically for C. If what C stands for sounds like a K then it's a Kappa: K if it sounds like a Ch than it's a Chi: Cand if it's an S sound it's a Sigma:S

J is Iota:I

A is Alpha: A

So CIA
KIA
SIA

OleMissGlitter 03-15-2006 10:18 AM

mu_agd 03-15-2006 10:30 AM

Nice - they have a pretty big Greek system there, don't they? An old friend of mine is a Lambda Chi alum from the school.

ilovetheviolets 03-15-2006 10:41 AM

yay for a possible sigma expansion!!

Right now it's, I believe, 11 fraternities and 2 sororities. But it's a fairly strong system. The sorority expansion will be good, because from what I've heard there's a lot of competition between the two groups and I think a third will balance that out.

Oh! and I've met a few of the Lambda Chi alums from the AGD alums.

Beaver 03-22-2006 03:24 PM

... and I thought that this thread was going to be about a sorority that did a bit too much over-eating.

Wow. Really you can stop now. It's not funny posting random things in EVERY thread when it's obvious you haven't even read it.

At least when I post asinine things, I've read the thread.

33girl 03-22-2006 03:42 PM

Go easy on the Beaver, Jess.

:p

AlphaFrog 03-22-2006 03:45 PM

Alright, if you insist;)

Congratulations to all who are expanding. About AOII's expansion at the U. of Arkansas, specifically, a news report on U. of Arkansas Board of Trustees actions says that the trustees have approved the construction of a new AOII sorority house there.

Edited to add: Please see the 4-5-06 post by irishpipes later in this thread. According to that post, the info below from the news report referenced in this posting is incorrect. Thank you, irishpipes.

The plans are for a 30,000 square foot house with 85 beds at a cost of $7 to $8 million. The trustees have approved the architects and construction company, as well as a land lease arrangement. The article is available through nwaonline.net at

http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/20...oardbriefs.txt

The article headline is "University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Notes," and the AOII news has a secondary headline (scroll down) "Board Approves New Sorority House."

So it looks like housing is in the works! I thought this article was also interesting for the insight it gives on some of the the potential cost of expansion at a major SEC school. (By the way, there's also an article on trustee approval of a Sigma Nu fraternity house in the same "notes" of the trustees' meeting.)

Tom Earp 04-01-2006 04:40 PM

Holly Stuff, Bat Boy!

Sounds like Razor Back Country is on the Move for Greeks.

Un Of Ark. has always been a Strong Supporter of Greek Life!:)

Congratulations to AOII and SN for expansion!

LXA Finally got Their/Our Old House back after a ReColonizatin and are doing very well.

Go Greeks at Un. Ark!

This information is incorrect. No plans have been finalized at this time, and the cost estimate is not even ballpark.

Phi Sigma Sigma Expansion

Phi Sigma Sigma colonized last month at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. I'm not sure what other sororities are already at Barry University.

Also, Phi Sigma Sigma has been invited to colonize this Fall at Grand Valley State University in Allendale Michigan. At Grand Valley, Phi Sigma Sigma joins a strong Greek community that includes five National Panhellenic Conference sororities – Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa.

AGDee 04-05-2006 11:10 PM

There is currently only one other NPC at Barry (Alpha Phi) and one multicultural. We closed our chapter there recently.

Congratulations on your expansion at Grand Valley.

iastategal 04-06-2006 09:53 PM

Congratulations Phi Sigma Sigma on your new colonies!!:D :D

Jill1228 04-07-2006 03:26 PM

Congrats to Phi Sigma Sigma!

Tom Earp 04-07-2006 03:31 PM

Again, Congratulations!:)

You alma mater is nowhere near ripe for expansion.

Thanks, didnt need Your input.

I can still hope with out You!

Can You just let Me put this on My Damn Wish List!

33girl 04-07-2006 05:06 PM

Tom, unless you can magically increase the number of women going through recruitment and pledging there, expansion won't happen no matter how many times you write it down. The "old blood" might be offended by that, actually - it sounds like you want to get rid of them at the expense of new sororities.
