NPC Badge Day: Monday, March 6, 2006

Just a friendly reminder to wear your badges next Monday!

KSUViolet06 02-28-2006 12:00 AM

I don't know WHAT it is with Badge Day, but it is always the day my chapter does its composite pictures (which means no badge for me).

The APH is hosting a luncheon at the country club that day. Hopefully I'll be able to get some extra lunchtime off work. :)

AchtungBaby80 02-28-2006 01:06 AM

I'll have to remember that.

ms_gwyn 02-28-2006 03:15 AM

i'm excited, I will be wearing my lovely pledge pin :D

PhoenixAzul 02-28-2006 08:53 AM

Not NPC, but I'll wear my Tau Delta badge proudly in Panhellenic spirit ;) Need an excuse to bust it out here in Ireland anyways.

AlphaFrog 02-28-2006 09:13 AM

PA - do you have a picture of your Tau Delta badge?

alum 02-28-2006 09:14 AM

I'll be wearing my Key and husband's A-Pin!

AGPhiBete 02-28-2006 09:25 AM

Not NPC, but I will proudly be wearing my badge (....and my President dangle, and my chapter guard, hehe). We also keep our pledge pins (they become our 'chapter pin')and I always keep that on my lettered hoodie :-)

NUBlue&Blue 02-28-2006 10:21 AM

Pinned

Alum, do you have your badges soldered together on a chain? We were "pinned" and they are together on a chain--haven't worn my key since college since I moved away from my friends and never got involved in alum stuff here (but maybe soon!) Anyway, I've been thinking about whether I should have them unattached so my husband could wear his, should he ever decide to get involved in an alum group.

So...general question to the group....if you were "pinned" and actually got married to that person, should you unattach the pins now that we're all old? My husband actually had a chain with his chapter (Phi) attached, but I think that little pin is long gone.

I teach a class on Mondays, so I'll have to scrounge up something a little nicer than I usually wear if I'm going to wear my key!

My pins are not soldered together but I have never worn the key alone except for my own initiation. I wear them as follows.
The A Pin (for Army) has the class crest superimposed on the letter A. The rising right wing of the eagle and the backslash right leg of the letter A make a nice juncture for the handle part of the key to fit.

Therefore the A pin is on my right and my key is immediately left. The A-Pin guard is under the key and the key guard is next to that.

The A-pin is not worn by cadets. See the link.

The A pins are near the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the reminder!!

jhujenn 02-28-2006 04:15 PM

So I won't have my badge since I am going to be initiated this weekend. So how dorky would I looking wearing my three pearl trident guard with dangling chain? Just joking, but I should so something to mark the occasion.

texas*princess 03-04-2006 07:58 PM

bump!

polarpi 03-04-2006 10:13 PM

I'm going to try to wear my badge Monday - my typical schedule would've allowed me to, but now it's looking like I'll be home all day :(

honeychile 03-04-2006 11:13 PM

I'll be wearing my pin. I had hoped to have the pin-ring back by now, though. Then I could wear it much more often! :)

FYI, the pin-ring is from a pin I bought on ebay. It's the yellow gold one with pearl points - somewhat art deco looking. I didn't want a fancy one for a ring, and I plan to donate my own pin to my chapter.

Bummer

I actually organized an NPC badge day breakfast for tomorrow where I work. There were about 17 people or so on the list of panhellenic women I've identified so far. Unfortunately I have the flu so I'm going to miss it. I'm so disappointed!

AZ-AlphaXi 02-22-2007 06:56 PM

NPC Badge day for 2007 is Monday March 5. Everyone remember to wear your badge!!

Eirbear 02-22-2007 07:16 PM

Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to actually wear my quill, but I'll be sure to dress up! My Little's new member class still haven't gotten their quills in yet, so she still has mine. I'm hoping they get their quills in soon, though! I miss mine!

I'm in the same predicament. My Little's class hasn't gotten their bagdes yet either!

AlphaFrog 02-23-2007 08:39 AM

Ya'll actually let them borrow your badges??

We used our big's badge for initiation, and the second the ceramony was over we gave them back.

ragtimerose 02-23-2007 08:43 AM

I'm not NPC either, but I'll be wearing my BSP badge in true Panhellenic spirit.

PhoenixAzul: Would love to see a pic of your Tau Delta badge. :)

I'll try to get a picture of it...I'm going to propose to our spirit chair at the meeting this week that we have a badge day. Especially since March 5 is the day after our new kittens are initiated!! :).

Yeah. Since they're new initiates and everything and need the opportunity to wear the quill, we let them borrow their Big's quills until their own quills come in. But we can always ask for them back if we need them for job interviews or something...after all, they are OUR quills. But, for Badge Day, if my Little's quill still isn't in yet (and...it won't be, since we don't have a meeting or anything before Badge Day), I'll still let her wear mine for that day. At least it will be worn.

We do that too...it was hard to part with for me! Our Panhellenic has been announcing it for weeks, so hopefully everyone will be wearing badges...not just Panhellenic!

NUBlue&Blue 02-23-2007 05:04 PM

My pledge mom (that's what we called "Bigs" in the olden days) was a triple legacy...her mom and both grandmas were Kappas and she always wore 3 keys, so I got to wear one of those until mine came. I think she gave me hers, but I can't remember....it's been a long time.;)

You should save that list to help girls when they are looking for recs!

ASUADPi 02-23-2007 11:49 PM

I teach so there is no way I'm wearing my nice pin to work. :D

But I do wear my letters daily via lanyard, so I'll be wearing them with much more pride on the 5th!

bichonl 02-28-2007 02:00 PM

I'm wearing mine!
