Clifton Britt
I hope that I do not offend anyone by this post. I am posting this to see how members of Omega Psi Phi feel about Clifton Britt, better known as Lexington Steele. With him being a member of Omega Psi Phi, how does him being a porn star reflect on the organization as a whole? I've also seen it on certain Omega chapter websites where he is listed as a prominent member. Does this place a bad image on the organization at all? I asked an Omega about it in person, and he said, "Maybe he's listed as a prominent member due to the money he puts in the organization." Whether that is true or not, I do not know.
Also, would any other GLO list anyone in that line of work as a prominent/honorary member? Just trying to gain an understanding on how one wants to reflect their organization towards the public. |
Lexington
The listings on wikipedia are not listings made by the national organization. Those listings are made by the general public whom may be both members and nonmembers.
For example, anyone including me and you can add or remove Lexington Steele's (Kappa Chapter 1990) name from wikipedia. So I DO NOT think that the national organization would list Lexington Steele as a prominent or famous member. That was probably put there by either Lexington Steele (Clifton T. Britt) himself or someone who thinks his name should be there. But, if I was making a prominent Omega's webpage I would NOT list Lexington Steele(Clifton T. Britt). |
I read a very interesting article about Lexington Steele a few months ago. Actually, someone emailed it to me and wanted me to comment, but I really didn't know what to say.
Pornography is a touchy subject, of course. Many argue that it is abusive, degrading, and detrimental to healthy relationships. But of course, we all know people who at least view it, if not purchase it. While I might not list an adult actor as a prominent member of my organization on a website, based on what I read of Lexington Steele, his work ethic, and his business acumen, I would not be ashamed to call him a brother (if he was in my org). But that's a slippery slope, though. Of course you have to consider the organization when creating websites and listing famous or prominent members. But who decides who is worthy of being mentioned? (In lieu of a specific organizational protocol.) E. Lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey, Carl Weber, and Gary Hardwick are all Alphas but rarely get mentions on chapter websites.... but on some websites, two guys from Shai are still listed as "famous" brothers. I don't get it. |
I do not believe that he is listed on any National or District Website. I have not also seen him listed on any chapter websites. I'm not comfortable with it, but I have no problem. He doesn't represent the frat in his movies and with the exception of his brand (which is mostly obscured) most people would not know.
I know some of his chapter bruhs and by all accounts, he is a good brother. |

Now that I try to google search it, I do not see it listed on a chapter website either. Therefore, I'm not sure what site I saw that on, but I'll still continue searching. If I find it, I'll post the link. I would still like comments as far as everyone's view on him being an adult star and a member of OPP. |

It wasn't that one. Page had a purple background. I'll see if the Omega that looked at it with me remembers. Was about a month ago. Thanks though. |

Why are they not considered? |

@MightyQuinn....you know, I didn't even mean for it to be funny, but I have that problem in general. Stuff I say (even in real life) has this tone to it that is funny. :) So it's okay to laugh, no doubt. |

A couple of years ago I googled Harris' name to find his name and year of crossing (in the 70s--I think he's a #11 or something--I don't think he was a charter member) listed on his own chapter's website. It really sucks when people are unfairly selective in who are considered "famous or notable members." |

From my own experiences, every Bruh I know is either 1) damn proud of Steele and barks everytime someone mentions him (LOL)or 2) just nonchalantly says they can't knock his hustle. I don't have an issue with pornography or Steele, but I think it would be a completely different scenario if Steele was a she, in a sorority, and publicized her membership in the same manner. It would probably also be a different thing if the popular image/stereotype of Omega as "Que Dawgs" didn't already fit in with Steele's image. :) |

First of all, he is exemplifying 3.5 of the 4 Cardinal Principles to the max. Secondly, he learned well at the foot (dong?) of the master coochie slayer. Thirdly, I can't think of too many better ways to be a millionaire. He is professional, articulate, business savvy, and erudite. A true Omega Man. Of course the scenario would be different, if the situation referred to a woman with a Delta Crest on her backside. Lastly, Bro. Steele does not PUBLICIZE his membership as part of his business or any of his bios related to his business. As the Bruhs say, "we supply beef" |

(I just didn't see your post) As for your last sentence, I never said he publicized it as part of his business or in his bios. Yet and still....... |

Girl, you hit the nail on the head. I totally agree. I didn't wanna take it there myself, but since you put it out there, I'll comment. With the stereotypical image that the Omegas portray, Lex really does fit into the picture quite well as a porn star. They always talking nasty when they chanting in the club. How does one chant about sex? Talking bout bulldogs d*cks and things of that sort. I also feel that even if it was a different fraternity, let alone a sorority, the issue would be different. With the images that are portrayed by other black fraternities, I don't see where it would fit at all. Especially with the intelligent brothers of Alpha. That's just my opinion. I also don't knock Lex or what he does. That's his business. He's okay in what he does. He could stand to tone up a lil. He's getting older and body don't look like it used to. |

Without trying to seem too mean, I personally do not understand why you don't comprehend what was being asked. Especially when there were people that answered the questions in the post, and all things I wanted answered were in question form. The questions asked in the thread were as follows: Does Lex being a porn star reflect the organization? Does it set a bad image? If someone in your org was in that line of work, would you list them as a prominent/honorary member? To elaborate on honorary portion, just say someone became honorary and later on became a porn star, stripper, nude model, etc. Would you remove them as an honorary member if they were posted/listed as such prior to their lifestyle change? The only way I can see you thinking I'm all over the place is due to the fact that I replied to people's responses to this thread. Otherwise, I'm totally lost by your thinking. Any other questions, feel free to PM me or post reply with question here. Also, let me know why you feel I'm all over the place. Thanks. |

Cyber-grudges? Are you serious? I don't know anyone on this site well enough to hold a grudge that's to include nonchalant. You might want to be a little more specific when addressing folx because for a minute there it appeared you were "typing" like you knew a little something about me (which I can assure you, you don't). |

Feel free not to PM you....Fine by me. Just gives me better reason to lay you out on here. What's funny about girls like you and ladygreek is that you all are stuck in your 'i'm always right ways'. As I stated in my post in reference to your comment, the only way I feel that you misunderstood what I was saying is due to you reading what I responded to from other people's posts/replies. What you were referring to was a comment that I replied to towards a post that DSTChaos posted. In terms that you would better understand, that wasn't for you sweetie. The original questions towards everyone was at the beginning of the thread(isn't that usually how it works?) which everyone but you seemed to understand. Yet your tired soror ladygreek loves to call people special. It seems the both of you are kinda special yourselves. Although, some people prefer quantity versus quality. To each his own. Hope I slowed down enough for you. Better yet, why don't you catch up. RIF :D Quote:

I feel you on that one. The girl needs to look in a mirror and she'll find special. Cybergrudges are petty. I look at it like this. At the end of the day, I don't owe any of these people anything and vice versa. Hence, it is what it is**as you can see, I love that quote**. I don't take these girls seriously. I post when I'm feeling it and respond to things I feel like responding to. Sometimes it's to gain knowledge and opinions. Other times, it's all in fun(this one was to educate and have fun). No hard/hurt feelings from either end. I don't think any of their/our comments are mean. I think they are just forward/straight-to-the point. Just like I like it. Don't sugarcoat for me. These girls just getting a dose of they own medicine and they not use to it. They can't take it. It's just too much for 'em. HOLD MY MULE!!!! lol P.S. lmao@OhioCentaur, men love to see a girlfight. I'm too sopshiticated and cute to fight. However......................;) |

"Girl" we have met our match X 2. We can't even try to get over on them. Oh well, I have been sufficiently humbled for the weekend. BTW: Nonchalant, I now beleive that you really don't know what you said that was offensive to me and my sorority, so let me refresh your memory: Quote:

Wack.
Oh Soror, I've never seen that post before- Cute . I tell you...what some people will do just to get noticed (unfortunately they usually get noticed for the wrong things).

dissing sorority, lol
Quote:
Oh my gosh girl. Is that what you meant by dissing your sorority? I extremely apologize that your perception of that message was, as always, wrong. I personally was speaking to the AKAs to wish them a Happy Incorporation Day. I was also glad that the sorority was continued on and not changed. I'm sure you wouldn't want some of your sorors trying to change everything about Delta now would you? For that to be considered dissing your sorority, wouldn't your sorority have to be in existence? Seeing that it wasn't at the time Nellie Quander disagreed with the changes, there is nothing to diss. Therefore, you need to either brush up on your history, or stop taking everything out of context as you always do. Everything isn't meant for you. In a nutshell, I sincerely didn't know what you meant by dissing until now. I also sincerely apologize if you got offended. It's funny that it took this for you to tell me when I asked you about it a long time ago. Then again, some girls like mess. Also, you didn't have a sorority to diss. All your founders were AKAs at that time. Peace and love. Can we now get back to the origin of this thread? If not, I will always come with a response(if it's necessary in my eyes). |
^^^^ That is just funny.
But yeah, I guess I do need to go back and re-read our history. Because for some reason I thought we were in existence on January 29, 1913. |
