An Observation

As I read through all of the previous boards and see the love that the ZETAS give each other I now know that Z Phi B is the way that I wanna go. You might say that all the sororities show love to each other and yes I understand that, but its different when the ZETAS show love. As I read these boards it's an undescribable feeling that lets me know that when I join I will be able to spread the same love as I see here. Thanks To Z Phi B for letting me know that being a ZETA is definitely for me and not only that I believe that I can uphold the priniciples of Finerwomanhood, Scholarship, Service and Sisterly Love! Thanks Again
Peace and one

After reading over these message board, I am under the impression that assuming you will become a member ("when I join") and assuming that you will even be given the opporutnity to pledge (in the other post) is a No-No.

1blubaby 07-23-2000 04:46 PM

Slow down tuffy! "When you join"....please change that to if you are extended an invitation to join. It is not a given about membership in ZPhiB. There are many hurdles you must cross before joining my Sorority! Continue to do your research. Best of Luck in your quest to be a part of the Best!! For membership has it's priviledges!

Queencece 07-24-2000 12:26 AM

Well I was trying to have a positive attitude towards the whole idea. I mean what am I suppose to say negative things. I don't think so! If I want to succeed in something I have positive thoughts and get myself mentally ready and then I handle my B.I. (business). So, if that implied anything negative my bad, but that is how I handle mine. With positive thoughts which is how I wrote it....with no frontin and no disrespect.

Queencece- Good luck in your quest to become a Zeta. Also, thank you for your compliment. Being Sisterly comes naturally for a FinerWoman! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I agree with the sentiments that you shouldn't say 'when you join' for the same reasons that my soror says above, but keep your positive outlook and continue striving to become a member of the best!

Nothing wrong with positivity. The process of seeking membership to nearly any greek organization is a difficult and trying one -- you'll need a positive attitude to make it through. However, it would've been very damaging to your chances if you were to approach a member on your campus and tell them how you are about to join her sorority - it makes it look like you don't appreciate or realize the struggle that she had to overcome and you don't value the gift of it's membership.

To the ladies of ZPhiB: WOW! I've seen interests in other sorority boards get torn to shreds with catty remarks for making these honest mistakes that many people who don't know that much about greek life make. I mean really ripped apart with insults and snobbyness. I am impressed with how nicely you ladies handled this situation and this correction.

ZetaAce 07-24-2000 09:37 AM

Asia2000- I try to remember when I was an interest before I post an answer. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Biting someone's head off because of the way they worded something is just silly, IMO.

Queencece,

There is nothing wrong with being positive. Saying "when you join" isn't being positive, it is assuming. And we all know what assuming does for us! Like I said before nothing is a given when it comes to joining any BGLO.

Thank you for the compliments....

I'm proud that the SISTERLY LOVE that our FOUNDERS invisioned when they articulated our principles continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those that have taken the oath of Zeta. A Pretty Kitty, Dove-n-Flight Z-Phi to my Sorors, and good luck to all in their quest to be a Finer Woman...it takes an exceptional woman to be a Zeta!

sisterly and best,
shela

Thank you not tearing me to shreads. I appreciate that very much and again my bad on the way I worded the remark earlier. I apologize for that. I now understand why I got the remarks I did at first. I didnt mean anything by it, but again I apologize. Thanks Asia2000 for telling me what da deal was. That was well put and your explaination was definitely a good one.

Good luck on your quest into the Blue and White family. I am a neo and don't have as much insight as my other Sorors, however there are several channels that you may have to go through before you even receive an invitation into this Illustrious organization. I believe if you let God lead you He will guide you towards the light.

Sweet Deliverance 07-26-2000 06:49 PM

Thanks for the compliments on our conduct. Zeta Ladies always try to behave in a manner which leads by example and makes the Founders and sorors around us proud.

I really didn't understand any of these politics before becoming a member of this message board. Actually, I made a huge mistake one time and almost jepordized a friend of mine. We were at a social gathering and I knew she was interested in becoming a Delta. She was currently pledging a service frat at the time and telling me how dificult it was. Well, my ignorant behind, I yelled over the noise of the crowd, "JUST WAIT TILL YOU GET ON LINE FOR DELTA." My God, I thought she was going to kill me right then and there. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif She schooled the hell out of me later!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif The worst thing was, nobody heard us, but maybe 30 seconds after I said that, a whole bunch of Deltas decided to stand right behind us to watch the show!! Had i said it a minute later, they all would've heard me!!

But I digress: It's hard to understand the politics when you're not exposed to Greek Life and you don't REALLY understand that bond and how closely these women hold their sororities to their hearts. The more I saw that, the more I knew I had to find the sorority that was right for me. Thank god, I've found it (let's just pray now that I can do what it takes to get in there!!)

It's a good idea to sit back and bit and watch the mistakes of other GDI's. You'll learn a lot, and you won't suffer for the lesson!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Queencece, good luck in your quest. Say a little prayer for mine, too! ;-)

DISCLAIMER: This happened to me on another board, someone mistook my compliment of their sorority as an interest: I am not referring to Zeta when I mention the sorority I've found. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I just think it's in my best interest at this point in time to leave her nameless. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

I have read many of your posts. I thought you said were already in a sorority and you were trying to charter an asian sorority.

PS No need to post disclaimers. The interests of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. very clearly know who they are and are known by the members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. And the members reply accordingly.

As you probably have noticed, the members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. have a different way of handling their business...nasty behavior is not one of them.

Hi Finer Woman:

Ok, I think I had to clear this up with another one of your sorors. Sorry, I guess I just wasn't clear enough in my other posts. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

The whole deal is: I am Independent. I am a member of an organization that is functioning like a sorority right now. We are functioning like a sorority (but not calling ourselves such) because we plan to, in the not too distant future, petition a national Asian-American women's sorority for the colonization of our group. In our application, we have to show characteristics of sisterhood/bonding, community service, scholarship, and leadership within the group, both as individuals and as a whole. That's why I use this board SO MUCH for info - we don't have anyone showing us how to do this.

Does that make more sense now? I hope so. Sorry for the confusion. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hey, Queencece! I'm glad that you're interested and it's okay to be positive. When I first walked on campus, I said, "Where are the Zetas?" I called the then chapter president and introduced myself and told her that I was ready that following spring as a freshman. Did I mention that I bought a Zeta keychain during my senior year of high school? Stay positive and keep your eyes on the Royal Blue & White prize.

Queencece 08-01-2000 07:41 PM

Thanks for your response. But I wanna know more about how you achieved your goal to be a part of the best!! Let me know how you did it. Email me at Queencece@yahoo.com and again thanks for the comment and I will keep my eyes on the Royal Blue and White prize!! :-)
Peace and one!

Asia: You are right about sorors handling questins and comments from interests in a positive manner. That was the determining factor in why I chose Zeta. I had not really had any experiences with a lot of Zetas, but I just KNEW there had to be something different about this org. That, and the fact that the chapter was being reactivated, which i felt would be a good opportunity to introduce a new standard of handling things like that. I was right and I have never looked back. Our chapter has a reputation of not being petty or trying to publicly humiliate anyone who asks questions and handling our biZ.

Peace & Blessings
QueenCeCe, I consider it an honor that you have placed my Sisterhood at the top of your list.
But, you must remember to be HUMBLE to receive the light of Zeta.
Trust me, as confidently as I walk, with every stride that I take...I had to humble myself to receive and accept Zeta into my life. So, there is nothing wrong with your level of confidence, as I am highly self-assured myself but humility is very important.
The best of luck to you on your journey to the light of the Mighty Blue & White.

I would love to tell you, but I don't think it would be appropriate to disclose the name at this point in the process. And it is a long process . . .

But, believe me, if (when . . .? ) I cross, I will be representing something fierce up in this joint!! As hard as I've worked for it and as hard as I will continue to work for it and as much as she has bloomed in my heart . . . I am sure you understand http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
