"The Game" ~ 2nd Season
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Jay Harrington (NBC's "Coupling") has joined Jane Krakowski in "Sex, Power, Love & Politics," a CBS comedy pilot about thirtysomething Capitol Hill staffers.
In other pilot casting news, Wendy Raquel Robinson ("The Steve Harvey Show") will star in the potential spinoff of UPN's long-running comedy "Girlfriends." The new show, tentatively titled "The Game," will feature a new group of characters, women in the lives of professional football players, who will be introduced in an episode of "Girlfriends" this season. "The Game" is in consideration for fall 2006-07 at the new CW network, which will combine the best of UPN and the WB. |
I don't know about this....
For one thing, a spin-off is hardly ever good without at least one character from the original show. Secondly, the "Girlfriends" have never really had any other friends, so the introduction of these new characters will be kinda awkward. Why do they have to date athletes? Will these new characters be complaining about being cheated on all the time? If so, they can save that drama. There needs to be a show that displays some positive Black relationships. |

Now I don't know if "The Game" will be good or not, but regarding the above quote, I'm not so sure. To me, A Different World was SAVED by Lisa Bonet gettin ' the hayle on! |

I'm guessing it won't be a spin off in the truest sense of the word. I think they will probably have Wendy's character be a friend/relative of one of the main 4 from out of town who has some drama with her pro player husband/boyfriend to try to peak some interest in the show. Some of you probably don't remember this, but the Jeffersons were a spin off of Archie Bunker, and I don't think they were real big characters on the show.

My vision of how it will go down. . .
Wendy Raquel Robinson and her football boo will hit The J Spot one night and strike up conversation with Joan. A week or 2 later, Wendy, her football boo, football boo's teammate, and football boo's teammate's boo will hit The J Spot again. Voila! Next season. . . THE GAME. :) It might not last but surely it will be better than Love, Inc.:o Quote:
I remember :) Just like Good Times/Maude Speaking of The Jefferson, Tom Willis died on Sunday. :( |

RIP ....that means Sherman Hemsley is the only on of the 4 main characters left. :( And you are right about Good Times/Maude...Florida was Maude's maid for just a few episodes...right? |

Sorry to burst in.
Maude was actually a spinoff of All In the Family as well. |

^^^^LOL @ RBL!;)
Let my start off by saying I'n not a fan of Girlfriends and never was (sorry, yall). But using an orginal character from one show and giving them another show may not always be a good idea. Perfect example: Joey:rolleyes: Something simular (sp) to probaby what is happening on Girlfriends is Happy Days/Laverine and Shirley and Mork and Mindy. I thought Brandy was suppose to be a part of this spinoff too. And I thought Girlfriends was going to be on one more season. |

I guess I would have to see it. I don't really see a spin off to Girlfriend's. They all make the show what it is, and I don't see how they'd have a spin off with none of the old cast?

BV Buzz on Girlfriends Spinoff
Wendy Raquel Robinson ('The Steve Harvey Show') will star in the upcoming spin-off to UPN's 'Girlfriends,' a show that will air on the new CW network. Robinson beat out a bevy of actresses for the role, which is said to be a young mother. A host of unknown actors have been named as her costars. Among them are Aldis Hodge, Coby Bell, Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Hosea Sanchez.

I think this show will be short lived. BUT, I said that about All of Us. |
The main boyfriend was cute, but the show was not. I mean really. Is every episode going to be about the girlfriend being insecure about the relationship and fear of him cheating? What else is there really to portray? Doing community service with the "Athlete Wives Club"? How exciting is that to watch on tv?

Shaping up to be an interesting season finale, especially Malik's story line.
|
Right!
I get tired of Melanie's character sometimes. While I TRULY appreciate her trying to finish her schooling and continue to be independant, it's extreme sometimes. I see how Derwin would question her love and motives sometimes. However, I do need Derwin to toughen up and stop running off into the arms of other women. ETA: Damn Derwin. |
Derwin, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I'm with you, RD. Medical school and all of the obligations that it entrails are really going to be a challenge in her relationship with Derwin. He can come and go as he pleases. She can't. |
So, he's not going to tell her? Bad move, Derwin. Don't think that it won't make the tabloids.... And when it does, Melanie's gonna crack your dome.
She should have gone a little harder on Malik than that. ETA: I knew it was coming! |

Ol girl is pretty and way too on point to be with Malik. ETA: Glad ol girl got that on tape! ETA #2: What the hayle does Derwin have on? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH ISHT!!!! ((((((MELANIE))))))))) |
