Where do you get your MP3's from?
So I finally bit the bullet and ordered an MP3 player.
I haven't downloaded any MP3s in probably about a year. For those of you with IPod's and other MP3 players- where do you get all of your music? How much do you pay, etc.? Thanks for the help! |
I-Tunes is really good... 99 cents per song.

Another time it got all the way to 90%, and for some reason I lost my internet connection. When I got back on, the thing said only 75% completed. But it's free and it doesn't happen too often, so I can't really complain. :p |
Limewire is really good too.... Not that I download things illegally. I had a friend tell me about it. :D

Limewire. Fast. Furious. Free.
Because we do it for decoration man, that's it and that's only. |
Personally, I use itunes.
however, if you are using itunes I highly reccomend getting myTunes Redux. Basically because iTunes will connect you to other itunes libraries on the same network, so you can stream other peoples music, myTunes lets you just download it. The other people don't even know you're doing it. Obviously, you're limited by what other people have but it's really great at the library when there's a lot of other people around. |
There are many threads on this subject with better suggestions my dear Danielle.
Also, I don't know if you are aware but I am worried and wanted to let you know that according to U.S. law, music piracy is illegal. I know you were upset with Hoosier when he posted a news article and if you didn't know, I just wanted to let you in on that. But don't worry sweety pie. I know you'll be fine either way! :) -Rudey |

I know nothing about the new Napster or ITunes and all the various new services and wanted to know what people used. |
Am I missing something? Danielle is a lawyer, I'm sure she knows what's illegal. However, she didn't actually ask where people illegally download music, she asked where they download music from in general, this includes legal, paid places.

Where did you download your music previously? I can tell you how the new services stack up to them. -Rudey |

I use iTunes over both eMusic and Napster, mostly due to ease-of-download. While Napster offers a 'monthly' thing, their selection is nowhere near as large as the iTunes library (especially in the retard indie rock and nerd rap that I listen to). I did use eMusic briefly, as part of a special offer with my pre-iPod mp3 player - I didn't like it at all, the selection was pitiful and the front end program was taint-tastic. Now, if you're not buying an iPod you probably will not be as likely to use iTunes, for obvious reasons (although it's very much possible, if you look around hard enough) - I would guess that Napster is better than eMusic in this scenario, but neither are ideal. The monthly Napster deal is probably MUCH cheaper than iTunes - but the .99c/song is only for single tracks, and full albums are generally cheaper. I've only had 2 iTunes searches come back negative (Love is All, and the new Isolee album - they had the old Isolee one, to note), FWIW - their selection is extraordinarily complete. -RC --well into triple digits last month on iTunes |

Torrents...and I can get almost all of them while on my school network :)
But....iTunes is pretty good also, there are a few songs that I've thought about getting off of there when I just want a single song and not a full album. Easy to find what you want also. |
|
I just borrow other people's ipod and take all the music I want off that. I think between the four or so I borrowed I have around 7k songs.

My friend swears by Walmart.com, only 88 cents a song!

You'll have far more problems with individual tracks than albums, obviously - for instance, if you're whoring the track reviews on Pitchfork, you'll be lucky to find 30%. But as far as albums go, I find iTunes to be better than most. I'm going to hit up a really good eMusic offer this week, they claim to have improved their selection - I'll report back. |
Bobby. Hands down the best :)
I love iTunes too, great stuff. Tho I get a little download happy some nights and forget that 99cents adds up quickly! |
limewire and winmx.....why pay for your music?

1. iTunes
2. Limewire 3. Wal-Mart Those are mine! However, Wally World songs aren't in the same format as iTunes, so it won't play and they suck. So jus stick w/1&2 :) |
I have the Ipod Video... i got it for christmas, but I don't have any videos yet. has anyone used the video download on itunes or google? Is there anywhere else you would recommend?
