I'm glad it's the normal version too, although I *will* admit I got hooked into the drama of the family edition and the dislike of certain teams...;)

queequek 02-06-2006 10:58 PM

The family edition is different, it mostly highlights the American scenery and culture. Even though it would be very interesting (and dangerous, especially with anti-American movement) to have small kids running around in Addis Ababa airport or Kathmandu palace.

Our office pool will be drawn next week!

In preparation for the next AR, our office pool will again form. Ten teams - ten members of the pool - five bucks per member. Teams are randomly drawn. Winner walks away with $50. Not much, but it gets people into the race.

However, another office pool I heard of (ok, I helped the manager win that one!) had each member of the pool have to give a weekly prediction of first in, last in, and not eliminated. Each correct answer got you points and the winner at the end walked off with close to $500.00.

Cheers!

I couldn't watch family edition...it wasn't fun to me. Glad to see a normal version is coming back! I'll have to set the TiVo, since I have a class until 9.

Is that really so many people in your office big into TAR? Wow. Half of our office have never heard of TAR before.

Morag 02-17-2006 10:12 AM

Yup! Amazing Race all the way! We can't discuss the previous night's events until we have made sure everyone has seen it!

What can I say ... my office dreams of being globe trotting nerds!

smiley21 02-28-2006 03:29 PM

Tonight is the night!! :D

Morag 02-28-2006 07:21 PM

... and I have a total of $10 bucks riding on some of the teams in two office pools! Yipee!

Thats just a nickname that the hippies gave them.

queequek 03-01-2006 02:18 AM

LOL the "frat" guys are cool. Hippies are weird. Pink girls are hot. Mo Jo is unique. Older couples are heartrobbing. The daughter/mom team is kewl. The Texas ladies are entertaining.

What's up with the "Genie" stuff? http://forum.ogrish.com/images/smilies/conf.gif

Morag 03-01-2006 08:20 AM

Sorry ... the Frosties and their yelling was terrible! I admit that it was cute when one peed her pants, but the yelling was like they were five years old.

Sad to see the Gay team out. The taller one grew so much in just that one episode.

I LOVE the hippies!! That frilly shirt, those red pants, that long hair! So Hait-Ashbury!

MysticCat 03-01-2006 09:42 AM

Interesting. I'm already finding the hippies a little too wierd to be entertaining, and I was actually rooting for the gay guys to be Philiminated. Way too annoying -- was there a stereotype they didn't meet? I don't think I could have taken them for another episode.

The Frosties didn't bother me at all -- I know way too many women like them.

Lake needs to chill just a little.

So far, I think my favorite teams are the mother-daughter team, the "frat guys," and Mo-Jo.

Sister Havana 03-01-2006 11:27 AM

My favorite teams so far are the nerds, the mother and daughter, Ray and Yolanda (since they are from Chicago!), and the Frosties.

queequek 03-01-2006 01:13 PM

I'm suprised the "black team" didn't break down. Boyfriend looked very pissed off by the Brazilian crowd cheering his gf. LOL talking about different crowd :D

And how on earth did they find the buildings in Sao Paulo? Froim above? The city is HUGE, spread over miles after miles, and all buildings look the same. I flew over the city for a couple hours of transit, and for five minutes hoovering above Sao Paulo, I was amazed on how humongous the city is.

jitterbug13 03-01-2006 06:13 PM

Who's Mo-Jo? I did miss the first half, which will explains my confusion.

I'm rooting for Ray and Yolanda. I'll have to watch Tuesday feel out the rest of the teams.

I wanted to tell the two (girl) friends to stop wearing pajamas during the race.:p There are people who know what PINK is.

Morag 03-01-2006 07:00 PM

MOJO is the girl friend and boy friend from Arkansas, who is also referred to by other teams as Ken and Barbie.

By the way, the hippies are way cool! But then again, I'm from BC. Nuff said. We all liked their first quip about the money Phil gave them

The best was when they were at the airport in the beginning of the show and he looked over at her and said "are you kidding me, are you seriously crying?"

And I would not want Lake to be my dentist. Can you imagine sitting in the chair with him over you all hyped up.

" COME ON CROWN! GET IN THAT GOD DAMN MOUTH!"

In the book, the coordinates were listed. I think they probably jus tell the pilot where to fly to.

MoJo, shorts of Monica and Joseph?

a.e.B.O.T. 03-01-2006 10:30 PM

i like the frosties, but they say "OH MY GAAAWWWDDD" alot

KDAngel 03-02-2006 04:14 AM

I so need to be on this show. Seriously, this or Big Brother. Speaking of which... when's the next BB household coming to tv? :D

Big Brother always airs in the summer.

Yes. At one point, they were wearing tee-shirts that said "MOJO," and Joseph made the comment in their intro-video "You can't beat the Mojo."

ladylike 03-02-2006 11:35 AM

I know my opinion will change as the show progresses, but I'm rooting for the "hippies." Mostly because one of the guys and I have fashion in common. I have the exact same blouse hanging in my closet. :o :D

queequek 03-07-2006 07:53 PM

LOL on hippies clothes. I think we should ban them for good :p

Who will get phil-iminated tonight?

Morag 03-07-2006 07:58 PM

Neither the Frat Boys, the Sacrificial Lambs (the old couple) nor the Clones (Dani and Danielle) should be eliminated. I think, for sheer incompetence, the Frosties should be eliminated.

RedAngel 03-07-2006 08:05 PM

I usually have a good idea who is going to be philiminated next but this one has me stumped. I think the frosties are going to show that they are staunch competitors and the old couple will probably be around for a few more shows as well.

adpi*violet 03-08-2006 12:06 AM

No surprise to me that the frosties are gone tonight.
I'm glad Fran and Barry are still hanging in there.

KDAngel 03-08-2006 02:34 AM

Thank goodness the frosties are gone. I had no problem with them til that one driving tonight was just being a brat. I was so over them.

I heard a funny joke about them on Talk Soup the other day though saying "I don't know if they win given their bladder control problems... I guess it just depends." Haha. I know it's corny. :p

Lake and Michelle bother me too. Well Lake does. He's just so bossy. I'd hate to be married to someone like that. A scarier thought, I think I can be like that sometimes, but hopefully not that bad!

I like the Nerd Couple as well, they are too cute. The older couple is great too, so are the mom and daughter.

I'm annoyed with the Clones and Lake and Michelle - he reminds me of the nutcase from a few seasons ago who screamed at his wife all the time.

The frat boys already annoy me... talking about sex and everything. They're just blah.

I don't like the nerd couple at all. I don't know why. I totally dig nerdy things normally, but not this time. At least not yet.

I LOVE the mom and daughter though and Ray and his wife. And while I don't think the older couple really has a place in this competiton they're way sweet and you couldn't help but feel bad for them when their car stopped.

And the clones are still okay to me thus far...

Morag 03-08-2006 08:03 AM

Next to go?

MysticCat 03-08-2006 10:31 AM

I love the nerds (does anything beat him saying he had made ethynol in chemistry class?) and the beach bums (aka the frat boys, even though they went to a community college).

The clones were better this week without all the PINK. And I like the mom and daughter team a lot.

Ray and Yolanda (they're 5-year long-distance daters, not husband and wife) I don't have too much of a feel for yet, but since they've said that the race is the most amount of time they've spent together, I'm predicting either a melt-down or that they work surprisingly well together. My money is on the melt-down.

I'm one of the few people I know who is not feeling the hippies at all. They deserve to stay in the race because they're good racers, but I'm not enjoying watching them, and I wouldn't lose too much sleep if they were hit with really bad luck. They're just annoying in my book.

Fran and Barry are lucky to have made it this far. They are having trouble keeping up and they keep making very bad and costly decisions. I could wish Scott Peterson (aka Lake) would be the next to go, but I suspect it will be the token older couple.

I love BJ and Tyler because they actually appear to be having fun. :)
My second favorite is the older couple, Fran and Barry. I'm really pulling for them not to be eliminated next week.

The "frat" guys are gross, but the one of the "pink" girls is even worse for letting dude cop a feel of her butt.

I don't care for the "nerd" couple because they are all over each other. Just too kissy-face. I almost expect them to pull over in the middle of the race and have at it.

ms_gwyn 03-08-2006 12:46 PM

I just love Dave and Lori, the hippies next.....

The beach bums? I am so over them...if you get further in this race, you will be so tired that sex will not be an issue

I'm rooting for them though.
