The Terrible Towel:
http://dpcollects.com/mysportslounge/towel.jpg When you see a crowd of Pittsburgh fans, and notice a blur of yellow above them, that's a Terrible Towel being twirled! When not twirled, they're happiest when lovingly placed on the television showing the game! Fans with the Terrible Towel: http://web.wireimage.com/images/Thumbnail/4195926.jpg |
This thread cracks me up! :D
I haven't decided who I'm rooting for overall just yet ;) |

GO HAWKS!!! I wish I could be there in Detroit with the other 12th Men (my apologies to sisters from Texas A&M...I just found out you guys have a 12th Man as well)
I know there have to be other ADPis cheering for Seattle! Right? RIGHT? |
CougADPi & I have a little bet going on the Super Bowl! We're betting $1,000 worth of Starbucks vs. $1,000 on Primanti's sandwiches!
No, really, we have a bet, but that's not it! All I know right now is ONE FOR THE THUMB, ONE FOR THE BUS!!! |

We're getting close to game time and its looking like more and more of the experts are picking the Seahawks! The countdown is on!
GO SEAHAWKS!!!! w00t!!!! |

(I'm still really torn...I lived in Washington for a year, but I'm an AFC girl at heart (as long as it isn't the Raiders! ;))) |
I've been a Steelers fan since I was old enough to sit in my daddy's lap to watch the game! My daddy was such a fan that he had a heart attack during a game and wouldn't go to the hospital until halftime! We tease about a lot of things in this town, but NEVER, EVER the STEELERS!!!
And to sew this particular game up - my ex-husband is from the Seattle area! Puyallup, to those in the know. |
Don't judge us all by ex-honeychile...we're actually a quite nice city! Though him being from Puyallup could explain some things...I'm from the north end and really try to stay out of the south end where puyallup is as much as possible!
I have to say its weird that the Seahawks are the NFC champions this year. I grew up cheering for them against the Raiders and the Chiefs. I have to say don't even know when we switched. As far as the media is concerned we've always been NFC, but I know its only been a few years. |
Puyallup is not my fave area either--so i feel ya honeychile. Mr. 1228 and I occasionally go to the Emerald Queen Casino there.
Mr. 1228 (the diehard Hawks fan) still hates the Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders! Old habits die hard! :D Quote:

I'd forgotten the Seahawks used to be an AFC West team (I think the change happened when the Houston Texans came into the league, and there were then 32 teams so there could be 16 in each conference).
That *kinda* pulls me toward the Hawks (but since the Chargers were SO close to beating the Steelers this season and I've been rooting for them in fantasy football, I get pulled back toward the Steelers...what's a girl to do? ) |
polarpi, Sweetie, you keep getting pulled back to the Steelers because we ARE The Steelers!! We are the come-back kids this year, but have a rich heritage of winning FOUR Super Bowls - and later on tonight, that will become FIVE!!! :D
I have cousins north of Seattle, in Port Something, and friends in Tacoma. It's a gorgeous area, but there's not the heart there that's in Pittsburgh and a few other towns. Maybe it's the Starbucks on every corner.... |

So, to join CougADPi and Jill1228 as one of the few vocal supporters on this thread.... GO SEAHAWKS!!!! :) (And at around 11pm Eastern Time, we can go back to loving and living for each other ;)) |
Congrats to Honey and the other Steeler fans. It was a hard fought game on both parts but it seems like it was just Pittsburgh's day.
Oh well, we're still number 2! Yay SEAHAWKS...we will always be proud of you guys!!! |
You're a good sport, CougADPi!! I think an article I read on Yahoo said it all: both teams made a lot of mistakes, but in the end, Seattle (with that last drive!) made more. Not a pretty win by anyone's standards, but we'll take it!!
http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/...1139198143.jpg Hines Ward, MVP I will be putting black & gold flowers on my daddy's grave tomorrow! I know that he's not there, but it would have made him feel great! And to all of my Westerly-favored sisters: better luck next year! It was a fun run! |
