My AI Journey begins...
I accidentally started posting under just plain Alumnae thread (sorry!). Tomorrow I am going to make phone calls that might change my life (I hope they do!). I am particularly interested in 2 groups. Let's call them Corvette and Viper because I love cars. I emailed the two groups at the same time. I am calling the local alumnae chapter of Viper tomorrow to tell them of my interest in the organization (per directions from their headquarters). I am so excited but yet so nervous! Both chapters are wonderful organizations with great philanthropies. I'll repost tomorrow to let everyone know how my email/phone call with Viper went!:D I'm so excited that this journey might be lifting off the ground.

Edited because I just reread your post. Good luck!
|
How exciting! AI is a very long process and it can be an emotional roller coaster... buckle up for the ride of your life!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! |
Waiting...
No news from Viper or Corvette yet... Patience is a virtue. I did contact the person I was told to contact in Viper, but it was by email. Still waiting..still hopeful...
|
Good luck and be patient!! It was very hard for me to wait; it's likely many other of our AIs feel the same.
|
Get used to the waiting!! There will be many periods of it-often followed by periods of frustration :D -but if it's meant to be, and you really want this, in the end it will be all the more special!!
|
Being in a Hurry in AI is not a Virtue.
It is along road that few have traveled even though on GC it sounds easy. Not sayng that becoming an AI in Fraternitys is easy as it isnt, it is and can be harder in Sororitys. But when one can attain it, it is one of the most rewarding things of a life time! Please keep Us posted!:) |
I heard from Corvette today!!!! They sent forms to fill out because I don't have a sponsor because I do not know anyone in the organization. Well, I do know someone but they go to school an hour and a half away and she is a super busy undergrad....anyhow I am really excited about finally hearing back from them! The only thing I am thinking about is if they try to find a sponsor for you near to where you live or at the university you list that is you were to be initiated at if you are accepted...hmm...still nothing from Viper, but at least I still am moving forward!:)
|
I think I'm confused  ( which isn't hard to do to me!! :) ). Is there an alum group of Corvette near you? What about an undergrad chapter?
I would assume your sponser would be from the alum group in your area. My sponsors were all from my alum group. Anyways, congrats on hearing something! Hope viper gets back with you soon too! |
hee hee ok. There are alum chapters of both Viper and Corvette within 20 minutes of me. There is a collegiate chapter of Viper in my hometown but the closest collegiate chapter of Corvette is about an hour away. I hope this helps!
|
I can only speak for us, but the sponsor is a member of the alumnae chapter you will be part of.
|
Just heard back from Viper! They are going to look into what they need to do to get things rolling and she gave me the information about when they meet. It has been a great day hearing from people!:)
|
I don't think it's a question of wrong. There's nothing inherently bad in looking at 2, but remember to be discreet.
|
still waiting...la..la...la:p
|
maybe good news..maybe not...
Sorry for not posting for very long. When you are a first year teacher and you get a 4 day weekend, you tend to relax A LOT!! Something AMAZING happened at work on Thursday though. One of the interns at the school I teach at is a Corvette!! She (is an undergrad member of Corvette) and I got to talking about AI and what it is and why I wanted to be a part of it and she was very open to it and interested in what it was. She said she was going to look up info for me/get info about the process for Corvette. I hope she doesn't forget lol. I hope this is good news
Happy Presidents Day:p |
Good-luck! I hope it all works out for you. :)

Whar She Said! It works both ways!!!!;) |
Hee hee playing the waiting game:) This is fun!:D I love how the excitement each day brings of waiting to hear from people and each day the desire to join a GLO grows even more (and no I'm not being sarcastic..I really am enjoying each day in this process).:D

I have news!
I'm going to an event!
It is a very important event. For those of you who have gone to one as a PNAM, what did you wear? :p P.S. Sorry to seem crazy this past week. The state achievement tests are next week here in Ohio, and as a teacher..oh the stress..lol:p *edited to take out the jeans thing. I know you can't wear jeans to this event..that is why I said this is a no jeans type thing...I didn't want people getting upset*:) |
Jeans? At our Founders’ Day, no one even wears pants. It’s always skirt and blouse or a dress. Your best bet is to ask your hostess.
|
Unless it's specified as casual (which is pretty much...NEVER), I never wear jeans to an alumnae meeting or function.
|
Congrats on the invite!
Ask the hostess about attire....I've never worn jeans (and don't plan on it, unless it's a philantrophic event and is called for), but all the meetings that I attended (and still attend), I have worn business casual attire, except for my pledging ceremony. Each GLO is different and within each AC is different. Better safe than sorry. |
For our Founder's Day, which is coming up in a month :D , the dress code is business casual. It will be my first, and I'm very excited about it-I always wanted to attend as a PNAM, but there is ritual involved, so I couldn't.
Can't wait to hear about it though!! |

Yes it may, but I did not say when the event is. It just says a Founder's Day event. I did not give a month, day, date or anything. It could be anytime. Thank you for the heads up though.
|
Hehe, start the guessing now!!
By the way, I know it's not us, because I wasn't allowed to go to a DG Founder's Day as a PNAM, because there is ritual involved. |

I would recommend wearing "business casual." I wore a nice pair of black wool gaberdine pants and a white Talbots blazer. I think a tailored look of high quality fabrics would make you feel your best.
Many of the women will be wearing the sorority's colors, but since you're a PNM, I probably would not do that yet. Also check with the hostess to see if there's anything you can bring. I brought a dessert, and I also brought some old cell phones as they were collecting them for a women's shelter. They will be very greatful that you offered even if there is nothing for you to bring. |

Alpha Delta Pi's Founder's Day is May 15th. But since many chapters are already out of school by then, those chapters may celebrate on their chapter's founding day. Yet, the Alumnae Associations still celebrate in May.
But this is definitely not ADPi, from other things posted. |

Regardless, hope you have a great time MJ and please keep us posted whenever you can! |

Definitely check with your hostess. I would recommend a nice pantsuit or dress...something you could wear for a business dinner that looks nice.
Good luck! |
Have a great time at the event!
....and relax!! :) |
Leaving for Columbus tonight to meet some ladies tomorrow! This is not the event, just a get to know each other lunch. Happy Friday everyone. :D
|
Have a great time here in Columbus!
|
Good luck and have a great time!
