Salons and Spas coast to coast

Good Morning Ladies:
I am new and apologize firsthand if this thread has been covered before. My son is 11 months old and I barely have time to post, much less plow through pages of previous posts!

I am curious about top notch beauty salons and day spas coast to coast. My husband travels a great deal and while the baby is too young to travel now, I would like to accompany my husband on some of his trips. Especially if I can sneak away for a day (or few hours) of beauty while DH watches our son.

What are some of the salons or spas that YOU recommend? (I am especially interested in hearing from ladies in the following metro areas:

Boston
Washington DC
Las Vegas
Houston
Austin
San Antonio
Denver

Feel free to share your favorite salon even if your metro isn't on the list.)

San Antonio is my hometown but I haven't lived there in several years, so I don't know what salons are there anymore. And my in-laws are in New England. I currently live in an area where finding competent hair care professionals is QUITE the challenge! So any chance I can take to get my hair done (right), I'm all over it!

Thank you and have a splendid day!

Being the spa girl I am I can recommend many spas in california. Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona, CA
Glen Ivy Day Spa in La Brea, CA
The Body Clinic in Los Angeles

My favorite in Las Vegas is the Mandalay Bay Spa

Hummm... I'm feeling just a little bit more relaxed just thinking about it.

Good Luck, and Great travels!!!
:)

Here's a couple of spas if you're in Santa Fe

The Bishop's Lodge

and

Ten Thousand Waves (Japanese style spa)

There's also a very popular place called Ojo Caliente that has mineral hot springs, in Abiquiu (of Georgia O'Keefe fame).

I am in desperate need of a salon!!!! :( My husband and I just relocated to the Nashville/Clarksville Tn area. Anyone know of an excellent salon in this area. I am really looking for quality hair care with cutting edge styles

Sorry for crashing, but if you're in the DC area, and have access to a car, Coolfont Spa in Maryland is wonderful! I spent a week there after my divorce, as a treat to myself, and it was worth every penny!

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but if anyone is interested in making their own all natural products, or using natural ingredients, I just created an online community for this purpose. It's still under construction, but the registration is functional so you can sign up if you want.

For those who want to make their own cleansers, facial scrubs, masks, etc. or body oils, lotions, and butters...this is where the recipes and discussions will be:

http://www.naturalbeautycafe.net/

Sorry, I couldn't offer a good spa in the cities listed above. I don't live near any of those cities, and where I live there isn't really a great spa. I figured in case you're stuck at home, or don't want to go out, you can make your own :) I just made lip balm last month :p

Alouette 01-26-2006 08:20 PM

Cheaper than Aveda, to be sure!

I know more about the Nashville area than Clarksville, so feel free to give these shops a try:

Fine Art International on Charlotte Pike (ask for Valerie)
Divas Salon on West Trinity Lane (ask for Tanzy)

Both are great salons that focus on healthy hair that is beautifully styled. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

In Summerlin, the Ultra Salon and Day Spa... But I think the Red Rock Casino has a spa. Then all the major hotels on the strip have spas.

Where I am: Spa Sanctuary

Best place I've been to aside from the Dallas, TX spa in the Fairmont Hotel, the Abbotsford, Canada The Wild Orange Spa...

In Sedona, Arizona all the major hotels have nice spas but if you could get one near a vortex, you'd be good to go...

BLUTANG and Alouette

The FEbruary issue of Upscale Magazine (Toni Braxton and her husband Keri are on the cover) has a piece about spas. Check it out!

Perhaps she should consider making her successful venture a FRANCHISE, heh heh heh! It looks like there could be a market for it!

Will pick up thanx!!! I really could use one here in Philly and I will be in the ATL at the end of the month.:D

HederaNaturale 02-02-2006 01:24 AM

In Charlotte, NC

Oasis Day Spa
http://www.oasis-dayspa.com/welcome/

I love Oasis Day Spa. They have wonderful massage therapists and their facials are great. They also sell all of the products they use as far as skincare and will keep you on a good regimine.

Ugh. You reminded me that I needed to write a strongly worded letter to them. I attempted to purchase a gift certificate for a friend who had a baby. I called TWICE and was unable to reach anyone and did not get a call back. I later went with The Paris Alexander Spa. Thery were so accomadating. http://www.parisalexander.com/home/

My favorite LA spot is Burke Williams. I love them. The Body Clinic was very stressful. It's so small! And I get facials at the Wellness Spa in Culver City. They are soooo sweet AND professional!

In Vegas, I love the MGM Grand Spa...wonderful!

DC_Zeta1920 02-06-2006 02:47 PM

Well after making some phone calls for about 30 minutes and evaluating feedback about different spas, I've chosen the Paris Alexander Day Spa (thanks abaici).

My appt. is 3/4. Grad school is kicking my butt and I need a day of pampering.

BTW, has anyone ever went to a spa on a cruise ship? Talk about relaxing

I LOVED the Turnberry Isle in M-I-A-M-I :D It was just fabulous!

Last spring I found that spa on a website that listed it as the featured spa at that time. You can search for all types of spas on the website (spafinder).

Ok, I went to Spa Sydell!! It was great and the service was wonderful!!! :D I received a facial and message.

I am sorry to say but the first spa suggestion (Nseya) was not good. The receptionist was extremely rude and I felt a bad vibe from some of the staff.
