Jamie Foxx's NBC Special ~ 1.25.06

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/151...headlines=true

"Jamie Foxx: Unpredictable" airs January 25 at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Foxx says there's a method to the madness: He wants all the theatrics in his music to translate to the stage. Last month he filmed a special for NBC where Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Game, Snoop Dogg, Angie Stone and Common came out and rocked the mic with him. The hour-long show is described by Foxx's label as "a musical journey of Jamie's life," incorporating songs from Unpredictable and reaching back to his hometown of Terrell, Texas, where he was raised in the church and became a classically trained pianist.

Not advertising it where?

It's all the buzz here. And yes, I will be glued to the tube! :D

CrimsonTide4 01-23-2006 06:34 PM

I know I have received this e-mail about lack of advertising about Jamie's show 4 times today and the 2 times posted on GC.

How you can combat "lack of advertising" if you choose to do so is e-mail your friends telling them to watch the show. That's it.

But please stop posting it HERE.

I wonder if the author of the email is a regular watcher of NBC, because most networks advertise their shows on their channels. And this show has been well-advertised on NBC. I watch NBC infrequently, and I still saw it being advertised A LOT.

Is Jaime behind this email? If so, he needs to hursh and let his OSCAR speak for him. :D

<---------Still geeked that he won!

RedefinedDiva 01-23-2006 10:59 PM

What is the point of the e-mail? Why would NBC be in such harsh opposition to the special as to not advertise it? They have the final say-so, therefore, if they hated the concept that much, why not just can it? They have to right to say what gets played on the network. Jamie doesn't have that kind of pull.

Sometimes we need to do some research and use common sense before continuing to circulate these ridiculous forwarded messages.

There maybe a reason why not to many people know about it: Who's watching NBC right now? Even Fox is kicking their tails!

Exactly. I don't watch NBC at all. Most of my TV shows are UPN and Fox and ABC on Sundays.

We need to stop believing all of the C-O-Nspiracies.

treblk 01-24-2006 11:52 AM

DVR is set to record (I'll be out of town)

jitterbug13 01-25-2006 01:44 AM

Jamie was on Leno tonight!:D

FYI: For those who miss it tomorrow it will be on again Friday at 8.:D

CrimsonTide4 01-25-2006 09:08 PM

I'll watch on Friday.

MsSweetness 01-25-2006 10:00 PM

I loved it!

ladygreek 01-25-2006 10:01 PM

I'm still bawling - LOL

The Cushite 01-25-2006 10:25 PM

Pretty Good

I watched the show, I loved the Opening Montage and "Unpredictable". Also, Prophet Stevie Wonder singing "That Girl" won me over. Also, I didn't know he had the "Love Changes" song on his album (Did Renee' and Angela sing the original?) . I might have to get it.

Great Music from a very gifted brother. I just cringe at Snoop and the Game on his record. I think people like me (Late twenties, who have a love for old school hip-hop and real lyricism and soul in R&B) need more artists to sing and forget about appealing to the younger, untrained ears that drive the marketing of today's R&B.
Blackwatch!!!!!!

ladygreek 01-25-2006 11:00 PM

^^^^ Good points. He is a good lyricist.

jubilance1922 01-25-2006 11:36 PM

I thought the show was really great. I loved the beginning and when Stevie Wonder was on stage, and the duet with Mary was great too! My friend and I both said "its over already?" cause we were ready to keep jamming!

I was touched when he sang about his child, but when he did the one to his grandmother I lost it.

lostnfound117 01-26-2006 06:10 AM

I cried....I especially love the song about still loving his pregnant g/f or wife. I also love "My Angel".

I bawled, too. The songs for his daughter and grandmother did me in. LOL!

Part of my tears were of just of sheer joy, too. I'm very proud of Jamie, and I'm so glad that others are finanally seeing his talent. He has worked so hard for many years, and he is finally getting his due.

Right.
No, that was Me'Lisa Morgan and Kashif.

I was surprised that Stevie sang "That Girl". That was my jam of many SW jams.

His daughter has really grown up.

Who was the surprise guest? Common?

I LdMAO when Jamie said, players, hustlers, pimps take a break during the duet. LOL

I see I wasn't the only person who got all sentimental! lol That song about his grandmother is so beautiful.

I'm really glad he's doing well for himself.

And before Kashif (where is he now?!?) and Me'Lisa Morgan remade it, it was originally done by the group Mother's Finest. :)

I need Common to come back home to the midwest so we can get our love thang on and poppin'. :o :D

Jamie is extremely talented and it's not every day you come across a real comedian/real actor/real singer. Congratulations to him!:)

The show was subpar.

AKA2D '91 01-26-2006 03:03 PM

If you like Funk...

Sure did!

What happened to them?

MsDJ80 01-26-2006 07:45 PM

So was that really his pregnant girlfriend???

I did enjoy the song...about time someone said something about all the hard work mothers do before the lil one gets here :D

chrini 01-26-2006 09:53 PM

The lady who played the grandmother is Larry's mama from a Good Times episode. I know we age gracefully.....Is it just me or had this lady not aged much?

Nah. I think it was a dancer who was wearing one of those pregnant body suits.

Thanks to the VCR, I was able to see it tonight (since Chris was a rerun). It was pretty good. I really enjoyed the part when he sang about his grandma. Co-sign with AKA2D'91 on his daughter. She really hit a growth spurt!

RBL 01-27-2006 10:03 AM

Maybe it's just me but I didn't watch his special and will likely not watch it tonight but I think Jaime is a seriously "average" singer at best and I thought his album was nothing groundbreaking either... ...**shrugs**

Bebe Drake-Massey is her name. She started off on Good Times as Savannah Morgan, Sweet Daddy's lady, lol. She also played Velma Gaines on A Different World.
