I am curious what everyone thinks of the sigma chi fraternity, both nationally and on you own campus b/c it is a very large and wellknown fraternity but it isn't talked about much at all on this forum

Much Respect to the Sigma Chi's. As I said in an earlier post, my father was a Sigma Chi. He even served for a time as a national officer. I didn't sign with Sigma Chi, the chapter wasn't right for me, but I will always have much respect for them. Our fraternity system just underwent expansion. I really wanted to see Sigma Chi brought to my new campus, but they couldn't expand here till 2003. Anyway, great org. much props.

At the University of Iowa.. Sigma Chi is one of the bigger and better houses.. great guys, really involved! Gotta love em :-)

The Sigma Chis on my campus are the "Players" I guess....really hot, but kinda cocky.OK, really cocky. It's one of the bigger houses.

The Sigma Chi's on my campus are great. They are so down to earth and friendly that you just have to love them! Well, since we are on the topic of organizations on different campuses, I was wondering what everyone thought about the Zeta Tau Alpha's and the Delta Zeta's. It is so fun finding out what they are like in different places!!!!

The ZTA's here are the very down to earth girls.. not the beauty queens. theyre very involved in campus life outside the sorority... and many are on Panhel... DZ just recolonized here... we'll see how they are :-)

The Zetas I've met at SHSU are the biggest sweethearts. Their really cute & classy gals. As for Sigma Chi, the FEW I know are really nice. I don't really remember what I've heard about them, but they do most of their activities with ZTA http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif so I'm sure their a great group of guys!

The Sigma Chi's at my school are awesome. They are some of the best looking guys. We don't have Delta Zeta. We have Zeta Tau Alpha. They are basically the beauty queens with money.

I love the Sigma Chi's at my school. They are a great bunch of guys. As for the Zetas, I'm kinda biased. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I've heard that we are considered one of the best sororities on campus. I can't complain!

The DZs here seem very nice. I don't hear a whole lot about them, really, but I think they are growing. The Sigma Chis at Tennessee are really nice and terribly good looking! Their house is really beautiful, especially at Christmas time when they put wreaths on all of the windows and doors. Zeta is having a cookout with them in a couple of weeks. As far as Zetas, the only thing that I can say is... There's nothing I'd rather be than a Zeta at Tennessee! If life were fair, everyone would get crowned.

At my school, Sigma Chi is really well-respected, good looking, athletic, all-American kind of guys. Campus leaders, all of them. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I wondered what Alpha Chi is like on other campuses...I've heard that they (like all other sororities, I imagine) span from being the most popular group on campus to barely holding on in numbers and reputation. I know we're big in the South! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Don't get me wrong. They are cute, but that doesn't count for much considering the fact that they're a bunch of egotistical assholes!

Hey. I want to know what all of you think about Sigma Chi. Are they like this everywhere?

I only know one Sigma Chi, a guy I graduated with, but I can tell you, NO they are not like what you described everywhere. No chapter is like anything everywhere. It is not a Sigma Chi national policy that you have to be an asshole to be initated.

We have Sigma Chi's on my campus, and they are the nicest guys. All of them are sweethearts! I heard talk about Derby Days coming up soon here, too...what exactly is it?

DERBY DAYS..its different everywhere you go, it is our national philanthropy to raise money for CMN we raise about 2 grand in our d days week. pretty good for a smaller school. overall, it a blast, contest, cross dressing sigs etc.

In Hoc brothers...im a Sig from Kappa Beta...Univ of North Florida. Sigma Chi is the best Fraternity....if we weren't the best then why do we have famous sigs like JOHN WAYNE, brad pitt, david letterman, tom selleck, mike ditka, Warren Beaty and a lot more. im a sig, we have have fun have a nice house and enjoy partying. there are a select few of fraternities on my campus that party every weekend. us and sig ep are close we party together just about everytime. we party every weekend while others party like once twice a semester. oh well, we run a hell of a derby days too, im trying to get my guys more invovled on campus. not trying to sound conceited but i think were the best on campus, top in #'s, intramurals, and we have background........nuff said

At my old school, Sigma Chi's were awesome guys. This is beside the point that I was in lust with one of them http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. One of their rush shirts(?) is still my favorite fraternity shirts.

Let me know which house is being cocky, and I will notify our nationals. We pride ourselves on our solid reputation and, to hear, that some of the brothers are "really cocky" is not something that we want to hear.

Sigma Chi's at Troy State University are Great! They are my personal favorite, most of them are really down-to-earth guys that love to have fun. They are definitely in the top 3 overall!

A bit of humility please. We, along with maybe two or three other fraternities in the nation, maintain our reputations via actions not arrogance. By the way, congratulations on your chapter's being top in grades and its strength in sports on campus. In hoc.

Your comments are important and, I hope, well taken by all...

Arrogance is a large part of the reason for the backlash against many fraternities, and the Greek System in general.

The Sigs on my campus in the late 60's were an outstanding house. I had a couple of good friends in that chapter. Men I really admired. Unfortunatly, even great organizations can change. Later, they were closed (I don't know if the university or the fraternity closed them) for general a**holery. Rumor has it that they would have been gone before that if the former president of the university hadn't been a Sigma Chi alum. I don't know if they've recolonized.

It's sad that things like that happen, because it hurts the entire Greek Community. None of us need that.
