Convention Poll...

Who among us is going?

APhi Sailorgirl 01-21-2006 11:35 PM

Well I know that my one sister who is advising at our old alma mater will probably be going.

Another sister and I are debating going with her since it is in Florida and we never had the chance to go as collegiates.

I will get more info when I'm down the next two wknds for recruitment.

Jill1228 01-21-2006 11:44 PM

I wanna go but money is a little funny. :( Plus there might be some other things going on (ie a transfer for Mr. 1228)

lauralaylin 01-22-2006 10:24 AM

I'm not going because it's too close to my due date. I don't want to be dragging a 2 month old there. Although FL is really a perfect place for it for me outside of the NE since my mom lives down there. I really could be going in two spots, both as a CA and as a rep for my AC because the president's husband is leaving for Kosovo at the same time as convention and is therefore staying up here. Our only other exec member at this time is the CA at Tufts, so we don't know who we're sending for our AC yet. I've never been, I'm reallly upset I'm not going. Maybe next time, hopefully it'll be on the east coast again!

Aphigal 01-22-2006 08:17 PM

I am going.

Laura - you should go!! I took my son to a mtg at the EO when he was 6 weeks old. And he went to last convention too when he was 6 months old!

lauralaylin 01-22-2006 09:26 PM

You're forgetting that I won't fly though. Yes, I still have this stupid issue, I'm totally not dealing with it. I'd like to drive down, but I think that'd be too much of a pain at that point. Plus, I've decided that he will break unless I'm holding him at all times. Yes, I am neurotic and totally freaking out over him, and I still have three months before he's born!

bsp-mich24 01-22-2006 11:31 PM

If all goes well, I'll be there the weekend (Friday night).

I'm still trying to decide if I want to stay through the 4th of July.

bruinaphi 01-23-2006 09:37 PM

pretty sure i'll be there

Sistermadly 01-24-2006 07:11 PM

Oooooh yes, he should be about 5' 10" and say 25-ish years old, dark hair, dark eyes, great accent.....

That or shoes. I'm an 8.5 american.

cutiepatootie 01-29-2006 05:46 PM

Proberly not. If it was in Calif again proberly , but like sistermadly said florida in july.......... i dont think so.

astroAPhi 02-01-2006 11:00 PM

I really want to go, but I will be going back to grad school this Fall so I have to save for that too. Since I'm local I'd really love to do it, but I'll probably mostly attend the weekend stuff. I've done Disney plenty of times. ;)

MissOh2Cute 03-08-2006 10:10 AM

I'll be there!

TechAPhi 06-16-2006 01:13 AM

I'll be there!

Wow! It's been a while since I visited/posted here. Everything is different! Anyway, I am going to convention. My sister is getting initiated there! So that will make three A-Phis in my family: My mom, me and now my sister.

lauralaylin 06-16-2006 08:42 AM

Wow, congratulations!!! A whole family of Alpha Phis!

I had wanted to initiate my mother there, but since I'm now not going, that obviously isn't going to work out.

We are only doing Disney for one afternoon, and we are actually going to MGM as we are not at a Disney property.

I am getting excited for Convention. WOOOHOO!

Jill1228 06-17-2006 10:49 PM

bruinaphi 06-27-2006 12:05 PM

I leave in less than 24 hours and I am SO NOT READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lauralaylin 06-28-2006 07:23 AM

Everyone have a great time!

lauralaylin 07-03-2006 09:00 AM

So how was it? My chapter president was calling me to tell me what was going on, but it's not the same as being there!

bruinaphi 07-03-2006 11:33 AM

Convention was great!!! It was so much fun to see everyone and get away for a little while.

The Joint Awards program was very fun and funny (hosted by aphigal and another IEB Member), and the Recruitment Awards program was wonderful as well.

Candlelight Banquet was beautiful and it was great to get to see Laura installed as our President.

Aphigal 07-03-2006 07:34 PM

Convention was great although I am still exahusted. I am not sure how the awards went but I had fun with it. Thanks to Bruinaphi for a terrific ppt and video that she made me for me on the fly!

Also congratulations to UCLA for cleaning up at awards.

lauralaylin 07-03-2006 07:48 PM

Who else won awards?

I just found out that Bentley didn't apply for any rush ones. If I hadn't given birth when they should have been applying, I would have made them. How can they double their size in one semester and not do it???

Congrats to UCLA!!!

Jill1228 07-03-2006 11:12 PM

So where is the next Convention gonna be held?

Congrats to UCLA!

bruinaphi 07-03-2006 11:57 PM

Next Convention is at the Scottsdale Princess.

Thanks for the congratulations! I wouldn't say they swept the awards, but we did win Most Outstanding Chapter for the Bordeaux category, which was very exciting.

Pepperdine won Most Improved Recruitment for the Silver category, and Boulder and Texas won Most Improved Recruitment for the Bordeaux category.
