Random
Okay, so I just finished writing the final, figuring out the answer key, determining which room each student will be in (there are two rooms since there are 42 students sitting the exam), its 1:30am and I'm just now going to bed! While I have enjoyed the teaching, kids, etc I really do not recommend teaching on your lunch hour! If I were to get offered a full-time position I would probably would accept it because I really do like working with the kids - though writing tests sucks!!
Well, off to bed - this is why I took today (Thursday) off so I wasn't rushing around trying to get the tests together, etc before giving the final at 1pm1 Sarah |
I like random threads. About time we had one in AOII.
It's supposed to snow today. We'll see if that really happens. Don't you hate it when you make a grocery list and forget two important things on your list AND they were sold out of all of the good kaiser and sub rolls? Can't wait until we have another grocery store option in this town. So, Teacher Beryana, how many of your kids aced your exam? |
What about going to the store for only 2 or 3 things, forgetting at least 1 of the things, and buying $30-$60 of stuff that you really did not need???

Been there and done that.

I have the eye twitch from hell, and it's just not stopping. AHHH!

Mmmmm......deductions!
Taxes are done, filed, and patiently (?) awaiting the money to show up in my checking account!! Sarah |
It's Pinewood Derby day! Or, more correctly, after 9 years of Cub Scouts, this is our very last Pinewood Derby. I'm happy and sad at the same time.

Tax return project has the possibility (very good possibility at that!) of coming in $650 UNDER budget - so that $650 can be put into a larger project for next year (new shingles - or, I may just do the house this year and the garage next year.) Other projects that WILL be happening this year are new insulation for the upstairs and possibly walls and repainting the exterior (mint green just is NOT my color!). That should be enough to keep my occupied this summer!

I love doing my taxes! I had a new little "legacy" deduction this year. That was lovely! Not to mention my crappy income from not working for 4 months thanks to that same deduction. REFUND!!! Here come my new hardwood floors :)

15 below zero with a minus 30 windchill is REALLY cold (though not as cold as about 10 years ago when we hit minus 50 with minus 70 windchills - 5 days in a row!!)!! Oh, what I wouldn't give for some cloud cover to warm things up a little bit - though it was pretty yesterday with the fresh snow and bright blue skies.

Beryana,
Did I mention that you should move here? We get a dusting of snow, and the world stops moving. Silver PS-I just cleaned out my PM box. |
Silver-
I've been down by you during a dusting of snow and almost pulled my hair out because of the stupidity of drivers! Actually, I occassionally check our job postings to see if anything is open in your neck of the woods - but I now have too much going on for me up here to contemplate moving right now (family, DAR curation, etc). ;) Sarah P.S. I was just going to wish you a good morning. :) |
It's cold here in Cali...a balmy 61. Last weekend my husband, daugter and I went swiming (yes outside in February). It was 82. I love Southern California!
|
Right now it's a warm 10 degrees here. With the wind chill it's going to be horrifically cold here tonight.
Love, love, love Stella's blog! Mommy and Daddy should definitely get DL annual passes. Anyone else do the blog thing? I've got one, but never ever think to update it. And while I'm on a roll, I have an incredible fangirl crush on US Olympian Chad Hedrick. Sigh. |
Sisters
I received this today and thought, what a great message to forward to all the AOIIs as well as all the other incredible women in my life! Thanks for being you!
A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, marriage, the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood; the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully. She turned a clear, sober glance towards her daughter. "Don't forget your Sisters", she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important to you as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you have, you are still going to need your Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. Remember that Sisters mean ALL women - your girlfriends, your daughters, your sorority sisters and all your other women relatives too. You'll need other women. Women always do." What a funny piece of advice the young woman thought. Haven't I just got married? Haven't I just joined the couple world? I'm now a married woman for goodness sake! A grown-up! Surely my husband and the family we may have will be all I need to make my life worthwhile! But...she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 60 years of living in this world - here is what she learned - and it says it ALL. Time passes..... Life happens..... Distance separates..... Children grow up..... Jobs come and go..... Love waxes and wanes..... Men don't do what they're supposed to do..... Hearts break..... Parents die..... Colleagues forget favors..... Careers end..... BUT....Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than need can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, sorority sisters, Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunties, Nieces, cousins and extended family all bless our life!! The world wouldn't be the same without women and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on to women who help make your life meaningful.... I just did. |

Of course it hasn't rained here in 122 days-- a new record or something so all of us with allergies are miserable. The good news is that the temperature these days is between 55 and 70 degrees. I actually have to put socks on to go get the paper off the driveway in the morning. I know, I know, waaaa! |

Sarah where its currently -1 with -15 windchill but supposed to get down to a -45 windchill tonight. We made it up to about +2 degrees today - not factoring a windchill. Oh, yeah, I got the curator/registrar position with the Wisconsin DAR!!!:D |

Beryana, have you been out of Kentucky for so long now that you've forgotten the massive milk and bread runs when the local weatherpeople forecast a tiny bit of snow? Panic ensued if they called for up to an inch of snow!
|
I'm going to Kentucky in April for a crew race/tournament. The competition is in Murray, can anyone tell me what the weather is like there during April?
I was in Berea this summer for a youth conference for church, and it was absolutely beautiful! I loved it. I'm such a flat-lander, the hills just took my breath away. I can't wait to go back! |
At least the furnace waited for slightly warmer weather and a day off to be on the fritz!!
|
I SO love working with insecure drama queens - and I haven't really started the job yet!!!
|
It's cold here. It may rain on my daughters outdoor birthday on Saturday. We got new hardwood floors (yay) but all the dust is making my chest hurt. Ok...I'm done with my pitty party! I can't wait for the Panhellenic Recruitment meeting tomorrow. It should be a blast ;)

Change is a good thing.

By the way, I'm STILL waiting to actually start my job - and it probably won't start for another week or so because the drama queen refuses to be flexible with our schedules! |
I'm sorry about the drama queen. It'll be worth it all in the end though. Patience is a virtue, so is cautious optimism (which is also my mantra for the next week!) ;)

I know it will be worth it, but I really would like to start working despite being told I would be paid for this month even though I really haven't been able to do too much work (just a lot of the set-up, odd projects). Sarah |
Update on the museum job situation:
The site manager and I spoke this evening about getting together for me to at least see the site, etc. Right now it is scheduled for Sunday afternoon - pending 'approval' of the State Regent and Committee Chair. I actually think this will be a very productive afternoon (I'm also not trying to let previous bias get in the way of a good working relationship - which I think Rachel is trying to do as well!) as we are going to basically figure out a gameplan for this summer and getting everything cataloged, etc. I am greatly looking forward to the trip, getting started, and learning what Rachel's thoughts are on the collection, etc. Roses!! Sarah |
Okay, so why is it that I now have CUSTOMERS offering to set me up with guys?!
(I've also had friends off, but some just don't feel like following through . . . . ;) ) |
Because they know how awesome you are?
|
must be something! And this leads to the next question. . . .where are all the guys?! LOL
