Did anyone watch Love Monkey?
I thought it was pretty good getting to view life from a guy's perspective. I was surprised to see quite a few "movie stars" (Larenz Tate and Judy Greer (the girl that's in a ton of movies but no one ever knows her name: 13 going on 30, What Women Want, The Wedding Planner, etc).
Was the tall blond guy meeting a guy on a date at the end of the show? Just checking wasn't sure, anyway he's cute. |
I saw it and loved it. Substitute the NYC single guy for LA Single girl and it could be literally all about MY life right now. lol So I felt like it justifies us mid to late 30s people who put our careers first now find ourselves our age wondering what the hell happened.
I hope it did well in the ratings and/or CBS gives it a chance cause its a good show w a good cast. Not sure if it was the ex baseball player character bringing flowers to another man or not but seems like it was cause all the other shots were of the main characters... (ETA: felt i should clarify that I still have a job. lol. And technically (but perhpas not literally?) still have a boyfriend, even if he is completely unworthy right now. Or right, THAT particular thing WOULD make me like the characters on the show. Damn. lol) |

Mid to late 30's probably means 33-39. Not sure haven't reach the 30's yet.

Oh and I loved the pregnant sister's "i am going to be a horrible mother I would so kill for a bottle of vodka or valium" line. For some reason, that just made her real to me. |
yeah. I watched it. I liked it alot. Not sure if I love it yet though. I probably will since I was a big fan of ED, High Fidelity, and probably a lil of Jerry McGuire.
Kind of saw it coming that the athlete guy was gay. Just like how Steve had a gay frat brother in Kappa Epsilon |

I thought the Ed/Tom character was supposed to be 37 but I don't remember where I read that. |

I will say, I LOVED the music on the show. Just downloaded his single. LOVE IT.

I was watching the show while cleaning up the kitchen, so I missed some parts. Was the ex-ballplayer who gave the roses to the guy at the end of the show the same guy that was supposed to be seeing Ed's best girl friend? (Yeah, I know his name isn't Ed in this show, but he'll always be Ed to me. :) ) She looked sad going into her house at the end of the show and I coudn't figure out if it was because of him or because maybe she likes Ed but he only thinks of her as a friend. Clarification please? Thanks! :D

At the beginning of the show, "ed" mentioned the girl you are talking about. He describe her as ...."this is my girl friend. no no, not that girlfriend. girl and then friend." and then they showed them looking at each other, kinda googly moogly eyed. And he said something like, " ok, yeah something like that" So, probalby, he'll end up with the girl at the new label. date her for a while, and later on date the girl you are talking about. |

ETA: I think what confused me is when Ed showed up at her door to talk to her in the middle of the night after he lost his job and he asked "Is Scott up there?" |
BTW - Does Jason Priestley look a lot older to anyone else, or is it just me? I almost didn't recognize him at first!

Oh really? Ok. Well, I must confess. I didn't completely watch the show like you. I kind of just listened (I was on the GC baby) and anytime a cool song came on I would turn around and watch. I guess this Scott guy is the baseball player you speak of. Yeah, I guess maybe he is dating that blonde girl. Or maybe he WAS dating her. earlier in the episode, this totally hot brunette chick hit on him, and he told her that he had just gotten out of a relationship. basically telling her to F off. If it were me, I would have hopped on that train immediately, but hey I'm not gay like him. So whatever |

Yeah. You know why? It's because he is getting older. 90210 was like 10 years ago man! eta: and I kept calling him Brandon Walsh too |

I like older women :) |
Yeah but Jason Priestley is...wait lemme go to IMDB... I thought so, my age--36. He looks his age-ish.
And I think the Bran character and Ed--well heh, one of my best friends is a straight male and we have that kind of relationship--calling each other/showing up at odd hours w heartbreak/life issues. Shit, he showed up at midnight Mon night ranting about something. lol THIS is why I said the show could be my life. lol Just you know, reversed. |

Overall, was it good? Worth watching? I wanted to watch (being a huge Jason Priestly fan and all) but didn't have the chance. Should I tune in next week?

Ya know, the name just sounds dirty to me.
By the way, I didn't watch. Probably won't. |

It's a surprisingly good show, though. As I said before, I recommend it. :) |
Hewo :)

I loved it again tonight. And now we have to wait 2 weeks for a new one? I heard they've only shot 4 and its fate is very much up in the air. Sigh.

I have that song stuck in my head now. " there you go again..." blah that zoe girl was way too skinny though. that really bothered me through the entire show 2 week till a new Love Monkey. I can't wait yo |
I like the second episode too. I also like how the show is focusing on the other characters. Not just the guy that use to play "Ed".

I find it strange that Larenz Tate is second to the last on the Love Monkey webpage on CBS seeing as though he has been in more movies and TV shows than Jason Priestley and the blond guy. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/love_monkey/
I think his picture (profile) should either go 2nd or 3rd from the main character. So I wrote in to CBS to suggest they move his picture up, of course the network has not replied to my suggestion. I think he is being undervalued on this show. Anyway just my opinion. |
Has anyone else heard that this was cancelled?

No one watched the show. I read they only had 5.4 million viewers a week, which on primetime network broadcasts is a failure.
