Who keeps a clean room/dorm/apartment?

Not just when you have company. I mean all of the time. Or, almost.

Tom Earp 01-05-2006 07:50 PM

Me, well except for the second bed room! :)

That is Les Junk Room!

Damn, I really need to do something about it!

Lindz928 01-05-2006 09:00 PM

I'm something of a mess until people are coming over.... Partly because my place is so small.... And damnit, I live alone, and usually go to other people's places to hang out with them... so not a ton of people see my place.

That said... It is one of the things that I'm trying to work on this year. So far so good.

ZTAMich 01-05-2006 09:01 PM

My LR is a messs, as is the kitchen. But bedroom & bathroom are pretty clean. I live bymself so I really don't care if it's messy or clean!

I'm the exact opposite! My living room and kitchen are sparkling, but my bedroom and bathroom are disasters!

My house is an organized mess. I know where everything is & I freak out if someone else moves something. I like everything where I can see it. :)

Buttonz 01-05-2006 10:40 PM

I keep my dorm cleaner then my room @ home.....

Yes.

I just hate dusting more than anything else. It's so pointless because as soon as you're done you have to do it again.

I'm allergic to dust so its better for me to just let it sit instead of actually dusting. If I start to dust it just gets in the air & in my eyes/lungs & then my eyes puff up & I can't breathe & its just awful.

JenMarie 01-05-2006 11:17 PM

My bedroom is generally clean, as is my living room. However, my kitchen table, kitchen and bathroom are different stories.

honeychile 01-05-2006 11:18 PM

When I was in school, and FINALLY got a single, it was so small, I had to go into the hall to get my clothes! I cannot handle not making my bed to this day because of it.

In my house, however, the back bedroom looks like Katrina went through it - twice.

PoohsHoneyBee 01-06-2006 12:06 AM

i'm super clean! well i keep other rooms that people see more super clean. my room can get really crazy sometimes. i honestly think it gets on my roommates nerves, my biggest pet peeve is a filthy kitchen.

SmartBlondeGPhB 01-06-2006 12:15 AM

Life's too short to clean house.........

ADqtPiMel 01-06-2006 12:23 AM

I can't function unless everything is perfectly neat.

THANK YOU! My mother just doesn't understand why it upsets me that she "straightens up." It takes much too long to dig through drawers and shelves, I'd rather take all the items I use frequently and put them out where I can see them.

My room used to just be a storage closet (I'm very active on campus and pretty much only use my room for sleeping), but my best friend is an OCD-type--it's almost like messes give her anxiety. If my room's not IMMACULATE when she gets there, she'll compulsively clean it up and if I don't let her, she'll leave.

KatieKate1244 01-06-2006 09:44 AM

My dorm room is much cleaner than my room at home. I can't study in a messy room, and will spend hours cleaning my room before I study. Also, there's a train track right in front of my dorm, so everything seems to get coal dust everywhere. At home, I share a room with my older sister, who is a pack rat. She's also an art major, and keeps just about anything she comes across as she "may use it in a project later on." MY mom recently made her get rid of about 20 egg cartons (no joke.)

AlphaFrog 01-06-2006 10:04 AM

My husband is the neat freak, but with a 16 month old baby, it's impossible to keep everything clean. Our kitchen and downstairs bathroom are always completly clean, the baby's room is clean (minus some clothes laying on the floor and the area around the crib where the baby throws out her toys, bottles, bedding...), and my husband's side of the bedroom is clean. We have an upstairs junk room (mostly keeping our tools & supplies for the upstairs bathroom, which is a disaster because we're re-doing the whole thing) and a downstairs junk room (mostly baby toys - either ones she doesn't play with anymore, or ones she's still too young for). My deal is that I work 7 days a week and there's NO WAY I'm doing ANY cleaning before I leave the house every day at 5:30 am, and by the time I get back home at 6 pm, I don't really feel like cleaning.

alphaxikt 01-06-2006 11:24 AM

I like to think of myself as clean but not neat. There's clutter, sure, but most of my household surfaces (especially the kitchen) are microbiologically safe.

AznSAE 01-06-2006 02:25 PM

i try to keep things clean and cluster free around the apartment. i hate it when i cant find what i want and have to spend time looking under piles of junk.

ZTAngel 01-06-2006 03:08 PM

I try to keep my house spotless. I'm always picking up clutter and cleaning everything. My boyfriend is a slob. I clean and he messes everything up a minute later. In other words, I'm perpetually cleaning.

swap husband for boyfriend and that's me. i had to force him to clean just SOME of the dirty dishes over the holiday (we don't have a dishwasher, have to do all by hand.) he does do some of his laundry and that does help. that's about it though. i try to leave his crap alone and hope he will clean it up, but he usually doesn't, i get grossed out and then end up cleaning. my resolution is to get him to clean more. we'll see if that happens.

now, my office is another story. i like to see eerything i'm working on and have a small desk....so just imagine how cluttered it looks.

Rudey 01-06-2006 04:22 PM

I learned long ago the faster you clean your desk, the more work they give you.

So I have everything scattered around on my desk and leave bags and my coat on my chairs so people don't feel inclined to come talk in the middle of the day.

As for home, it's always clean on the weekend and messy during the week. I think I'm going to get a cleaning lady though.

HAHAHA
My friend has a sign in her breakfast nook that says, "Housework is bad for your health."
HAHAHAHA
I ironed my linens for the first time in ages the other night. I am convinced that is why I had a tummy ache!

I need one :-( Seeing as I'm now unemployed, dont think that will happen anytime soon.

I spent the last two days cleaning the apt (to make up for the entire semester that it was messy).

Ok...now swap Husband for Dad and sister, lol and that's me. Luckily, we do have a dishwasher (although i went 2 years without one, so i know how ya feel); their problem is clutter (my father doesn't have enough room in his office, so his computer stuff gets spread evverryyyyyywherrreee) and the biggest problem??? trash. I don't ask them to do the dishes, clean the kitchen, laundry or anything else. All I ask is that if the trash can's full, take the bag out, and replace it with another. Instead, every time I walk into my kitchen the trash is piled up on top, spilling out of the trash can-actually, the lid won't even shut, lol. And taking it out of the apt. and to the dumpster???? In my dreams, lol.

xoheatherxo 01-08-2006 03:41 AM

my dorm room was clean because i was barely ever in it. my room in my house that i rented with 2 sisters was a mess, but the living areas in the house were really clean. we figured our rooms didnt have to be clean if the rest of the house was!! and its not like my room wasnt clean, i just have a really hard time (to this day!) putting clean clothes away...especially when im trying on outfits to go out in.

KSigkid 01-09-2006 08:08 AM

My apartment is clean - my desk at work is organized chaos.

RioLambdaAlum 01-09-2006 06:55 PM

umm when i was in school it was usually a fair trade when i had a roomy. when i had my own room it was typically decent. now that i'm out of school its a toss up between me and the roomy....except right now my room personally needs a little work from me sorting and having made a few piles.
