Convention in Phoenix?

Is anyone planning to go to Convention in Phoenix this year? I figure it's officially 2006 now and Convention is just over 6 months away, so it's time to start planning! My mom and I want to go, we just need to do a little personal fundraising because our alum group usually only sends one representative and it's usually the alum group president.

SmartBlondeGPhB 01-01-2006 05:57 PM

Yes, I plan on going.

amandap4bama 01-08-2006 04:09 PM

I am planning on going, just trying to recruit some others to go with me.

FloridaTish 01-10-2006 09:32 PM

I would love to have the opportunity to go, but as I am new to Gamma Phi, are there specific rules about who can attend? I know at our Alumnae Chapter meeting this weekend we are planning on talking about it, but can someone go who is not an official "delegate" from a chapter or an alumnae chapter?

As a recent AI, I think this would be an experience of a lifetime!

amandap4bama 01-10-2006 10:11 PM

I am not going as a delegate. Any Gamma Phi can attend.

I'm planning to go. When do you think we will receive more info. about it? Or did I miss it in the last Crescent?

AZ 06!

Hi Sisters!
I really want to go to Convention, too. And now that I'm an alumna, I won't be going as any chapter rep, but I'm still really excited about it. I could have gone to Chicago 2 years ago but didn't, and everyone said it was an incredible experience! I was hoping for more info, too since the site, www.arizonagammaphibeta.org isn't updated too often, and here was the reply:

I have gone to the last 4. The costs are approx the following:

Hotel: has been about $100 per night
Airfare: not sure what it will cost for you to fly to Phoenix
Registration: Around $500-$600 for the full time registration (includes all sessions and meals)

This year there is an additional day for alumnae programming (Sunday) and what I saw was that it's in additional costs.

You can keep checking the Arizona site. They should be updating it more and more often, I would think, since the event's getting closer. And I would imagine there will continue to be things in the Crescent. Have people already gotten their Winter Crescent? Maybe I missed mine...
Take care, and hope to see you in Phoenix!

I went to Chicago and it was a ton of fun. I will hopefully be going with one of my chapter sisters and maybe kk_gphib_01 if she wants to/can come, since we had a great time at the last one! My parents have a timeshare near there which we are trying to get for the week to defray costs! :D

There should be info on the website. Or ask your AC folks when they get it. I think the Crescent is the only place they post the info except for what the alumnae chapters get in the mail.

I think that link will you give you the link to the Convention stuff on IHQ's website. I make no promises, though. ;)

I'm going! It's "near" to me so I'll probably be driving myself across the desert. I'm so excited about the Confirmed Conventioneers Dinner. I didn't get to go last time - this time I get to go and have *two* carnations on my hat! :D

.....Kelly :)

I really want to go... I guess it all depends on whether or not I'll have the funds to go. I know that a sister from my chapter is going and wants company, but I can't guarantee anything just yet...

Not Phoenix related....

If anyone cares at this point, Convention 2008 will be in Cincinnati.

I care! That will be much easier for me to get to - although I'll be studying for the bar then, scary!

Assuming I do indeed make it to Phoenix, Cincinnati will be my 5th convention......

kchaptergphib 02-25-2006 02:04 AM

updated convention site!

Just and update, Ladies!
The Arizona folks finally updated the convention site, www.arizonagammaphibeta.org
There is quite a bit more information now.
Hope to see you all in Phoenix!

SmartBlondeGPhB 03-01-2006 02:24 PM

I'm not sure who it gets mailed to but I got the official Call to Convention in the mail.

I'm doing the part time registration and will have free time if anyone else goes and wants to get together while there.

I may even need a room mate, not sure.........

SmartBlondeGPhB 03-23-2006 05:01 PM

Airfare is booked. Now I just have to send in the registration and get our delegate situation finalized so I know if I need to look for a room mate.

:D

SmartBlondeGPhB 04-18-2006 11:40 PM

Is anyone else getting excited for convention????

Early bird (cheaper) registration is due May 1 too if any of you are going.

I think I am pretty much set. Have to try on some of the clothes though to see if things still fit.........lol

GeekyPenguin 04-19-2006 11:09 AM

Way too much money for my grad student blood. :(

Roomie?

Hello everyone,

I'm going to convention in Phoenix and I'm looking for a roommate. A double room for all four nights costs about $490. Anyone want to go to Phoenix and share a room/split the cost? Let me know - I promise, I'm fun to live with.

kchaptergphib 05-16-2006 09:53 PM

I PM'ed ya, Aisandra

There's a few people looking for room mates on the Gamma Phi website too. That's where I found mine.

From experience, rooming with women from other areas is a blast.

Hello Ladies,

Hope you all have fun down at the convention... the site looks great ;)

Anyways keep an eye out for the President from Toronto - she's my baby sister :D

ASUADPi 06-15-2006 11:29 AM

You guys are going to have a wonderful time!!!

The Arizona Biltmore is absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Being an Arizona native, here are some hints for people on the east coast...

Bring lots of sunblock and where it whenever you are outside. :D
Drink lots and lots of water.

Then just have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a funny thing. Our convention was here last year and all the east coast girls, especially the ones from Florida, North & South Carolina, the states full of humidity, were absolutely thrilled that their hair wasn't frizzy here. LOL. So be happy about that! :D

KunjaPrincess 06-26-2006 11:56 PM

To anyone heading down to convention.

HAVE A BLAST and get lots of pics to bring back and post :) :D

You know where mine will end up.......:D

Of course, there are only 3 of us going.

SmartBlondeGPhB 07-03-2006 04:08 PM

Convention was a lot of fun. Especially since I didn't HAVE to do much.

For those who want to know, 2008 will be in Cincinnati. It will be my 5th and will also mark my 20th anniversary in Gamma Phi Beta. :D
