The Lisa Frank Appreciation Thread
Let's talk about Lisa Frank!
I love the golden retrivers, the polar bear, the dolphins and the horses! Well, I LOVE EVERYTHING! I've got dozens of folders, a pencil case, pencils, an assignment book (when I was in 6th grade), lunch sack with the chinese symbol "love" (in high school), stationary, and everything else. I've wanted to join the fan club, but I was unable to. |
I used to love it when I was younger, but by the time I got to HS I grew out of it for the most part. But the memories...and I'm sure I have some stuff around somewhere....
|
Lisa Frank was the shit at the end of elementary school till about junior high. All my folders in my TRAPPER KEEPER were Lisa Frank folders.

it may have been the only thing i had in common with the all non-ethnic elementary school girls i went to school with that year. but like many a binders, the rings got all funky and uneven, so... that was the end for me. |

This was the same mom who would never buy Gelly Roll pens for me because they were more expensive than the PaperMate 10 packs. |

OMGZ gelly pens! that didnt get big to have until early freshmen year HS. did anyone else do tattoos with them? speaking of 90s nostalgia, does anyone remember POGs? |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...l/Sandy001.jpg A lot of schools and athletic teams sold POGs as a fundraiser and they made TONS of money because everyone loved collecting them. We'd play with them, of course, but after a while they all became collector's items. |
I had an aunt who had no kids so at the beginning of each school year she would send me a box full of school supplies, most of it Lisa Frank. I had the Trapper Keeper, tons of folders (way more than I could use), pencils, pens, stationery, etc. The Golden Retrievers, Unicorns, and Ballet Shoes were my favorites.
|
Gelly Pens! I still use them sometimes :P
I have my POG collection somewhere.....probably in the basement? That was 7th-8th grade for me I think...or was it 6th-7th?? |
Let's reflect, shall we?
Notes from the 80s salutes - THE TRAPPER KEEPER I seem to remember having a purple-ish one. Maybe it had a unicorn on it? I do remember one girl had an enormous peach one that zippered up...we made fun of her for the enormity and the peach-ness of it. Now, what are POGs? I've never heard of them. I'd appreciate a little pop culture enlightenment. :) |

The juice it's named after (Passion-Orange-Guava) is very very yummy and is sold in most national grocery chains, I'm sure! |
I had a Lisa Frank kitties Trapper Keeper. It was big craze when I was in 4th-6th grade.
I also had a collection of rubber stamps, stickers, notepads, pens, etc. Gelly Pens... are these the same as Gelly Roll pens? If so, I still use 'em for scrapbooking. But I could be wrong. |

Huh. I have no recollection of those. I started high school in 1990, so maybe I missed them. |
whoa.
do they still SELL Lisa Frank stuff? I remember having the Lisa Frank TRAPPER KEEPER, with all the Lisa Frank folders. And of course I had to have the matching pens/pencils. |
My school didn't allow Trapper Keepers. :( I always thought they were so cool. I also remember Pogs. I had a bunch in 4th grade (at least I seem to think it was 4th grade.) Pogs were a fairly big craze in my area, and I can remember slammers going for close to $50.

Trapper Keepers were not allowed because they didn't fit in our desks (well, the old ones. When we got news ones, the fad had passed for the most part). The teachers got tired of tripping over them in the classroom aisles. I also remember one teacher saying she couldn't stand the velcro noise of the Keepers opening.

haha - RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP! Ah, one of the sounds of the 80s. |
I used to use Lisa Frank all the time when I was younger. For Christmas I bought a whole bunch of Lisa Frank school stuff for my younger cousin. She was excited, because it was very pretty and colorful.
|
believe it or not, I only heard of POG's when I was on vacation in Serbia from my friends who lived in ENGLAND. NEVER had anything to do with them in the States.
