Official "Help me name my puppy" thread
Ok, so my dance teacher's Chihuahua had puppies and somehow he talked me into having me keep one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...mallpuppy2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...mallpuppy1.jpg Now I just need some help naming this guy. My cousin also has a little Chihuahua (that is about 2 months older than this guy) and she named him Elvis. I thought of naming this dog, Ringo (as in Ringo Starr) but i'm having second thoughts cause I dont think he necessarily looks like a Ringo. I'm leaning more towards Martini but yet, i'm still not sure. Any suggestions? |
needs to see the puppy....
but I am partial the name rufus...for a dog...it just sounds cool |
Oops yeah...i was trying to resize the picture and so I "deleted" the other pictures I had of the puppy. But the resized pictures should be up...hopefully they won't be too huge.

Aww, he's such a cutie!!!!!
The boy Chihuahua I had (he belongs to my grandparents now) was named TANK, and it was so adorable because he was so little. :) I think the name Martini is really cute.... He looks like that would fit him. *Suggestion from a chihuahua owner.... Make sure you socialize him A LOT while he is a puppy. Have him around lots of people (and lots of other dogs if possible). These dogs get VERY set in their ways VERY quickly... But if they get used to lots of people at a young age, they will be just the sweetest things ever. At least, that's what I did with my little Madison, and she LOVES people and is never skiddish around humans. :) |

He's much cuter than Paris Hilton's dog. I'd name him Paddlefoot.
|
Got To Be Damn it!:D
Sit, Damn it. Roll over Damn it. Play Dead Damn it. Come Here Damn it. :D :) |
Martini is awesome.

It may take awhile, but you'll definetely find the perfect name. We originally named my dog Scrappy, just because we thought it was cute. We couldn't really find anything that worked other than that, and then after about a month it just hit us: Elijah. It's perfect for him, we don't know why, but he just looks like an Elijah, lol. So don't worry, it'll come to ya:) |
My best friend had a Chihuahua called Peanut...I always thought that was an adorable name, 'cause that's exactly what they look like, a little peanut. :p
|
He is too cute! I think Ringo is a good one, but you can go wrong with a big manly name....they always sound so cute on a little guy:)
You know, I was looking at the thread topics and one jumped out at me......WRIGLEY? He is small like a stick of gum....and he looks just as sweet:D |
epcdude?
I'm thinking seriously of naming my next pet Dionysus. |

I admit that I don't normally care for Chihuahuas, but fell in love with "Bruiser" in Legally Blonde. The concept of naming him something on that line (Bruiser, Cruiser, Butch(ie), etc) is intriguing; so is something cute in Spanish (Te Amo & Te Quieras both mean "I love you").
Naming a dog after a liquor may be cute now, but do you really want to be calling "Martini!" in another 20 years? So, my last thought: Bolivar - and call him Bully. |

I also fell in love with Bruiser!! lol. And its wierd that i ended up with a little Chihuahua because I don't like them....they might be one of my least favorite dogs! lol...but you really "can't look a gift horse in its mouth" (lol is that the right saying? hahaha). I just couldn't pass it up...even though sometimes I wish I had. |
Name him Taco Bell. :)
|
ROSCOE!!!
I've always wanted a dog named Roscoe, but I always end up with female dogs. My pittie pup (who is now 2 yrs old) did answer to dammit for a year. My roommate (who I hated) always called her dammit :( Her real name is Delaney Jade though. |
FYI...Te Querias is correct, although the translation is closer to "You are wanted" then "I love you". You could always go the "people name" direction...name him Jose.
My dad's maltese that weighs all of 3 pounds is named Brutis. |
I second or third whatever was said about socializing the Chihuahuas early. I have a Chihuahua that I rescued from the pound and she is a tough little dog and has tried my patience through and through. She basically hates and tried to eat everyone that isn't me. She loves me to death and is loyal beyond words. But had I had her as a puppy, I don't think she would be as agressive (all 10 pounds of her) protecting her territory and her mom. But, she is slowly coming around and it's all been worth it. Just do a bit of research on the breed.
I agree, your baby is totally cuter than Paris Hilton's dog. I love the names Cooper and Riley. |

My vote is still for Martini, but Ringo is starting to win me over... I think he looks like a Ringo. I would suggest this: Narrow it down to your two or three favorites, then spend one day calling him each of them. One of them will most likely stick out with a lightbulb "THAT'S his name!" moment. That's another thing I did with mine ;) |

Dang, 3 pounds is Tiny. |
He looks like a " Mr. Snappy Bones" to me.

WRIGLEY!! How Cute. I've been telling my mom all y'alls suggestions and she really likes Martini...she's been calling him "Tini." That dog already got on my nerves! lol. I did not even have one hour of sleep last night! He woke up every half hour...ugh. |
We have talked about getting a dog for our daughter, but we came to our senses at the last minute.
What about Chipotle? Call him Chip? |
So how about Champion?
Champion you're anything but. We could call him Tiger. But there's no bite in him. Tiger! Kittens would frighten him. Rover! When you think it over. Rover is the perfect name for this dumb lokkin' dog! Sandy, Sandy's his name if you please. If you don't belive me ask anyone of the fleas. Residing on Sandy, True he ain't pedigreed, Sandy, there ain't no better breed. And he really comes in handy, 'Specially when you're all alone in the night and you're small and terribly frightened it's Sandy, Sandy who'll always be there! |
my first thought after seeing his picture was pepper.
|
If your dog was a girl i would have suggested the name Rudey. Since Rudey's a bitch. HAH!
But since not, then I guess Coconut will do. Yeah...we like Coconuts. Big round coco...uhhhhh ok. Hello Jessica Simpson! I mean...Pamela...I mean...uhhhh Dolly Ahhhh nevermind. Viva la GC and I am out |
I had to bring this thread up because its almost Martini's 1st birthday.
I can't believe its been almost that long, and since I'm not going to be home for his first birthday I decided to show you all some pictures of my big boy. At the moment, he is crawled up underneath my armpit sleeping. He's such a baby, and really spoiled. lol. Thank you all for your suggestions. Chihuahuas are a hard breed to get used to, IMO. So here are some pictures. Hopefully you think he's as cute as i think he still is. Here he is getting back to his Mexican roots: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...olemartini.jpg Here he is waving at all the lovely people of GC: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ingmartini.jpg Look at those BIG EARS!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ie/bigears.jpg and one last one....he's always playing with toys that are bigger than him! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...iniandbone.jpg Hehehehe. Take care all!! |
That's so cute! I didn't see how old the thread was but I definitely would have voted for Martini. I met a tiny yorkie named Martini who was pretty much the cutest thing ever, considering I don't like small dogs. But seeing a tiny fluffball romp around in a human baby's fleece snowsuit and balance on someone's foot will melt your heart.
He's beautiful! |

OMG, He has ears that are radar Units!:D What a cutie! Dont mess with Wickett, the Killer Yorkie I Doggy Sit with, He is a pooch as no other is!;) |
They make all the best doggie clothes for Chihuahuas! *pout*
