Drolefille's sister's Recruitment story
 

My sister is going through Recruitment this spring (YAY) at a private Midwestern university with 3 houses. She's not a legacy to any one of them (though my mom, grandma and I were all in different sororities) so she's sort of on an even footing here.

Code names will be from Gilmore Girls; the three generations of the Gilmore girls in fact.



Emily Gilmore
My sister's RA is from this house and she knows a couple of people in it. This is our hometown so that's inevitable. She has at least one rec for here.

Lorelai Gilmore
This house my sister doesn't know much about though she feels they're more cookie cutter than the other two.

Rory Gilmore
My sister has a lot of recs for this house, seems my mom knows a lot of alumnae from here. Small town syndrome at its best. One of my highschool classmates (at least) is in this house which makes me less in favor of it, but it's balanced out by a couple of the girls I played soccer with being here too. My sister likes what she's seen of this house and it may be an unofficial favorite.

Recruitment starts when she goes back to school but there are still a few weeks on that. I'm just impatient. :cool:






Standard Disclaimer: Colors mean nothing and were chosen because they're pretty. Names mean nothing. I don't dislike Emily Gilmore more and therefore gave her to the sorority I dislike most for example.

um, I went to the trouble not to mention what school it was for a reason.
Small, private, and midwestern are all you're getting. This city is like one big small town and there's no need for my sister's recruitment to be affected by a message board :)

Yea that is ok, I mean with only 3 sororities it might be easy for people to try to guess if they were into that sort of thing.

Updates have to wait, my sister is concerned about her identity and school being found out, so I'll update at the end with as many details as I can. Sorry my thread turned out to be a bust :(

But I wouldn't want anything to hurt her chances either! So I'll let you all know when I can!

I think it is wise to keep your sister's anonymity. Wish her good luck from us and that she finds a happy home!

drolefille-how about posting the typical rush thread at the conclusion of your sisters recruitment. that way we get the thread we crave and it is all over and done for her and doesn't compromise her?

ok, so while suggestions have been made to give a full description, I have ADD and am too impatient to post quite that much. Therefore, a much shortened version:

My sister had a fantastic time at Emily, Lorelai and Rory and was invited back to all three through skit night! For pref, she was sadly dropped by Emily :( but invited back by Lorelai and Rory, her favorite and 3rd choice (not so much least fav as "i had to put these in order)

After Pref, she felt she truly knew where her heart was and "suicided" Rory.


As of 3:00 Friday my sis is now one of the newest members of "Rory" aka....

My sister attends Millikin University in Decatur, IL. The other two chapters on campus are Pi Phi and AXO.

She's having a blast too!

This was fun, getting to relive the whole Rush experience. *sniffle* won't get to do it again until there are kids, I'm out of little sisters:(
I do get to have my first recruitment fully on the alumnae side this fall, one at my alma mater and possibly one at my new graduate chapter wherever that may be!
