For those of you with artificial nails...
 

what type do you get? Gel? Acrylic? Is there a difference between "pink and whites" and solar nails?

I did a search on this, but really couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm getting my nails done tomorrow, and am trying to decide whether or not I want to get just a plain manicure, or get nails put on ( for holidays and whatnot).

I do pink and whites if I get acrylics. You don't have to worry about chipping, and they look natural much longer than painted nails. It's only $4 more for me to do that than get regular acrylics with french manicure, so I pay the extra to have them look nicer longer. People ask me all the time where I got my nails done because they look nice for a long time :p

I get regular acrylics, but I get the white tipped kind. The part that attached is clear, the tip is white and they use the regular clear acrylic powder stuff. I like these much better than having the airbrushed white tips wear off.
But the general upkeep is higher cost, as I can't go long between sets--- since the white grows out.
I will also check into the pink and white thing and see if it gives me the look i want.

Yes!! Or if you must just get some gel put on the length of your nail without tips.

Solar nails are great. The powder stuff they use is the color, so they don't require painting. I get the white (when I get my nails done), and they stay looking like a perfect french manicure. :) I think the pink makes them look like an American manicure.

I get the gel with the white tips. I like those better for some reason. I dont get em done often for the simple fact that they ef up my nails.

I get acrylics. I usually do either french or an airbrushed design. I always get compliments on my nails

Solar nails are made by Creative Nails.

They are especially designed for people who going "tanning" as they do not yellow like regular acrylic.

I've been thinking about getting faux nails because it's the only thing in the world that ever stopped me from picking on my cuticles. I've only had acrylic nails (and that was only for about a month) so I'm no expert -- what is the difference between acrylics and silk wraps? I'm trying to decide which is better -- I plan on keeping them for a while.

I occasionally will get gels because my natural nails are pretty thin. I DON'T get tips and stick with classic colors .. keep things classy ladies!

Me too. I never ever get tips. I did get tips once and they did not cut them short enough so when I got home I had to take them off. But I have to say since I've been pregnant my nails have gotten a lot better!

I kid you not, the guy who works at the shell station down the street has french tips.... and a goatee. Hes apparently had them for a while (its not the closest station to my casa, so I dont stop there often - so i never noticed) because hes real good at typing into the register and handing you change like a chick thats had them forever.

Ok wait-what are tips? I thought that when you got fake nails, they just put a fake one over yours-is a tip something different?

I get arcylics ... they last a lot longer . i get the white tips and clear arcylic. i also usually get the cut back done so i keep the white tip part the same length as the rest of the nails instead because filing down will only make them uneven

I used to get pink and whites because it is literally the only thing that can keep me from biting my fingernails, but it makes your nails so weak when they come off that it's a vicious cycle.

I used to get acrylics with an American manicure since I bit my nails like it was my job for most of my life (up until this summer even). Then I realized that I could stop that and get rid of a bad habit as well as save a bunch of money. Now I just have my real nails grown out and I get regular manicures on them occasionally or I just do it myself, much better. :D
