What houses did you pref?
 

Of course we all preffed SK, but what other houses?

I actually listed Alpha Phi first on my bid card, after over an hour of deliberation and talking to my Rho Gamma. I listed Sigma Kappa second, and Alpha Delta Pi third. I didn't feel like ADPi was the place for me, but the bid-matching computer was doing really weird stuff and we were warned that it was better to list 3 houses than to pref less than three.

I worried about my decision all night, and then the next day found my new home was Sigma Kappa. I was so excited!

Interestingly, a lot of the girls in my house prefed both SK and APhi. At my school, the "feel" of the chapters is fairly similar.

I was a legacy at ADPi but clearly SigmaK was where I found my home.

I don't recall if I listed three or not, but it would have been DG as my third choice, though I didn't feel like I really connected anywhere but here.

At my school there are only 3 sororities.

Alpha Phi
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Kappa

I was dropped by Alpha Phi going into pref (they were not for me). I went to Phi Sigma Sigma's party first, it was kinda interesting. I was preffed by 4 different girls that night. 2 of which I hadn't talked to during rush.

Than I went to Sigma Kappa's pref. I was totally blown away. Molly who was in my English class ended up preffing me (I talked to her all 3 nights of recuritment). I felt so comfortable with Molly and the other girls (most of whom went to my high school). I put SK first and Phi Sigma Sigma second.

When I open my bid card I got my first choice SK!!!!

I preffed the 3 sororities at our school. Our recruitment is probably a lot different...I dunno what y'alls schools are like..

My bid card:
1. Alpha Phi
2. Sigma Kappa
3. Gamma Chi (local)

I'm definitely glad it worked out the way it did...

At the time my campus had 16, they have 17 now....I believe.

I preffed Alpha Gamma Delta and Sigma Kappa

I pref'd Sigma Kappa, AGD and Phi Mu. I suicided Sigma Kappa.

i pref'd sigma kappa and kappa kappa gamma.

i really couldn't decide between the two: i felt a slightly stronger connection to the kappa girls and i enjoyed their pref night more, but i also felt the sigkap girls wanted me more and that i would fit in better there. so after much deliberation i listed kappa first and sigma k second, but i prayed that God would put me in the house that i belonged in and the next day i joined sigma k.

i still do sometimes wonder what life as a kappa would have been like, but i would never ever give up my sig kap girls and experiences.

I COB'd, and SK was the only place I went or was interested in. :)

I went to SK's informal recuitment parties in the spring. I remember having great conversations with the ladies I spoke with and just feeling, "Yup, this is for me!" I didn't even go to other sororities' spring events...which means I really didn't have a comparison, but I love where I ended. I guess sometimes you just don't need to look further. Yay for SK!

My bid card was:
1. Sigma Kappa
2. Kappa Delta

buuuuuuuuuut i would've depledged if i got Kappa Delta. i knew where my heart was, but we were warned against suiciding.

I pref Sigma Kappa and Phi Sigma Sigma.

My campus had a very small greek system, with only 4 sororities and 4 fraternities. I only knew Zetas, so I was going to pref ZTA through spring recruitment. I had a close friend who was a Lambda Chi (who were tight with SK) and he thought I would fit in better with Sigma Kappa. He was right! I hung out with them for awhile, and one day out of the blue they gave me a bid card... YAY!

SK Only.

Back in the Big Hair 80's almost all my pledge class of 26 went to only ONE pref. I was asked back to SK, ADPi and ChiO and could have gone to two. I ditched ChiO with a regret and gave the boot to ADPi, as they were our arch-enemy!

Gamma Phi had & still has an AWSOME Pref Party!

I preffed Alpha Chi Omega, but I was a senior and I just couldn't go through with it; it seems silly almost twenty years later, but I didn't want to pledge with a bunch of girls three years younger than me.

So I waited for the founding of the Sigma Kappa colony and pleged with 10 other seniors, as well as a bunch of juniors, sophomores, AND freshmen.

And to this day, our composite is known as the "big hair" composite. The current collegians are embarrassed to display it in the house, so they take it down unless the founders are visiting.

How funny. During my time at the house, we proudly displayed our Big Hair sisters b/c it's great to see the progression of ladies throughout the years. From Big Hair to other weird hairdo's of the 90's & today. I still get a kick out of the sister that gave herself a home perm (or so rumor had it) & took the composite pic w/semi-orange hair b/c it couldn't be fixed & she was on EC.

Hopefully the Theta Lambdas will advance to that way of thinking!

there is nothing wrong with big hair.. i'm sure in 20 years people will be looking at my composite and thinking we were the idiots who abused flat irons!! the times will always change, but why they refuse to hang it in the house is beyond me.. i mean we always hang the current composite above our fireplace, but all the rest of the composites from years past hang proudly on the wall going up the two flights of stairs to the attic!! our problem is stopping boys from stealing them.. in my opinion they like the "big hair" composites best!! :)

I prefed DG, Sigma Kappa, and ADPi. I ranked SK first and DG second. I didn't rank ADPi because I was prefed by a girl who I hadn't previously met. It wasn't exactly magical having the "what's your major" conversation on pref night.

Gamma Phi (NCSU-Raleigh, NC) just hung the 1960-1976 composites in the upper hallway. Those are the pic's of PNM mom's and a few current sisters mom's and aunt's. They love the history and the 'looks' from those years. :D

I dropped out of fall recruitment b/c I didn't think I could devote the necessary time needed and after Day 1, I honestly felt that I didn't belong in any of the houses that participated in fall rush.

I later learned that SK & AOPi were going to have spring recruitment so I inquired about it but heard from SK first. I was invited to the house 1 week after the end of formal rush & spent a lot of time with them. I ended up getting a bid & joining the fall pledge class. I loved every minute of my time there.

I preffed at Sigma Kappa, Pi Beta Phi, and Alpha Xi Delta... and actually, quite a few girls in my pledge class did the same.

I went through COB and only ended up going to SK. I had a great connection with them and sat on the couch talking to a few of the girls for about three hours, which was well after COB ended. We had a great time and they offered me a bid on the spot. I don't regret for a second not going to any other houses. :)

I preffed Sigma Kappa, Pi Beta Phi, and Phi Mu. I agonized over whether to put SK or Pi Phi first, since I had friends in Pi Phi and didn't know anyone in SK, but I got my first choice and I haven't regretted my decision for a second. I also have a funny story about why I dropped AOPi before prefs, if anyone's interested. :D

My first and only choice was Sigma Kappa. The woman collecting our cards gave me a look, and asked if I was sure, but I nodded and smiled at her.

I went through informal and LOVED AXO. I went to SK's parties to appease a friend of mine, an SK alum that I'd known for 4 years prior. At first I didn't feel a connection there at all, but I didn't get asked back to AXO so I quickly put feelers around for COB with the other sororities. SK got back to me straightaway, and actually delivered my bid to the Greek life office before we went out and got coffee. They REALLY wanted me apparently. I got that bid in time for bid night which was awesome!
At least now I know for sure I ended up in the right house. None of the other chapters would have fit me.

I just love how this thread only has 33 posts, but like 2000 views! :eek:

ehh I don't think so. It's clearly in our forum. I think they just are jealous of us and want to know if we might have possibly been their sisters. lol!

I prefed Sigma K and DG. We are only allowed to attend two pref parties. My pref choices were SK and ADPi, however, our computer system was messed up and also, the greek advisor did not like sigma kappa (she was recently fired) and messed up many girl's preferences.
however, I've known since the 11th grade I knew I wanted Sigma kappa. I chose my school apps based on who had a chapter.

That is a classic way to choose a college. Of course, I'm not one to throw stones because I chose my alma mater just because I was too lazy to move out of my mom's house and the drive was a few minutes away. ;) Then I moved into the sorority house which was further than my mom's house but I made friends & memories I wouldn't trade for the world.
