After which institution of higher learning would YOU name your baby?
For a girl, I like Pepperdine. I would call her "Peppy" and she would grow up to be a professional cheerleader.
For a boy, I like Wofford or perhaps Gonzaga because those are just really manly names. They would, of course, grow up to be lumberjacks. Oooh, know what would be great for twin boys? Usna and Usma . And when they grow up they could join the Navy and the Army. So many great schools, so few kids. Discuss... |
TEXAS - of course!
(however, my old high school boyfriend did name his son Texas) |
You are Nutsoid!!!! But That Is All Right, You are Red Headed!:D

For a girl, Sarah Lawrence would be an easy pick, but I assume a lot of people might choose that. I like Brenau and even Lehigh. For a boy, I believe DUKE sounds very manly. I also like Creighton and Seton (Hall). GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! |
Auburn, of course! ;)
|
Girl: Queens
Boy: Simon Fraser Francis Xavier McGill Canadian universities seem to have names better suited for boys. |
Indiana, of course! :D
|
How about "PhoenixOnline?"

How about Berkeley or Stanford? Carroll wouldn't be too bad either. I bet there are some kids in Utah and Southern Idaho named Brigham Young. |
William and Mary for twins, of course!
Girls: Auburn (of course!), Mercer, Liberty, Madison, or Meridith (I'd add Vassar, but there's no Greek System there!) Boys: McNeese, Yale, Randolph-Macon, Wake Forest or Dartmouth and Princeton, if he/she is illegitamate! |

|
Audrey (Audrey Cohen College)
Augusta (Augusta State) Campbell (Campbell University) Carson (Carson-Newman) Oak / Oakley (Oakland Community College) Radford Savannah (Savannah State) |

Tiffin Shawnee Azusa (Azusa Pacific) Biola Shenandoah Bethany Would probably work for either sex: Juilliard For a boy: Drexel Shepherd Ferris Carlos Albizu (I have no idea where this one is) For twins: Carson and Newman Davis and Elkins |
What, l'il Darmouth isn't good enough for anyone? :(
|
Well, Princeton is already taken...so I have to go back to the drawing board now...
|
I have a friend from school who is named Baylor. It was really funny.....I always teased him about it.
|
I would probably name the child, boy or girl, "Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University" - although I wish there were some universally accepted way to shorten that. Maybe "Vaj"?

You know, I am having a difficult time coming up with names for this kid.

Rose-Hulman!!!!!
Wonder if He knew Steve Corbin? LXA there!!! Yale? (Eli) Georgia (On My Mind) |
I know a girl named Brandeis.

Elon is a Hebrew name for boys :p there are actually a few guys at my alma mater named that.
I still think Dartmouth takes the cake. Trying to sound all educated when in fact she probably faked all her supposed degrees ;) |

I kid you not. There is an old Baton Rouge family where the children are named after major universities. Their parents thought it would fun because their names were Stanford and Loyola. The “kids” are in their 50s and 60s now.
Boys: Stanford, Jr. Harvard Duke (whose twin is T’lane) Princeton Cornell Girls: Auburn T’lane (Tulane) |

I also went to HS with a guy whose middle name is Radcliffe. |
I could name a kid BIFHE (pronounced Biff-ee), which is the acronym for Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education, where I'm studying in a few weeks.
or Ulster. I would never name a kid Otterbein though, my god. |
Boy: Washington Lee
Girl: Agnes Scott They would both be very Southern kids. |
I have a friend from college named Tulane. :) She said her dad loved the school so much that he named her after it.
|
Hartford.
So that if you said it fast enough, it sounds like the kids name is Harvard. Well, at least in my accent it does. |

I can't remember if it was a guy or girl but someone who was a year or two behind me in high school was named Yale. I wonder if that would give him/her a few bonus points when they applied...
|
One friend has a brother named "Dean" - as in Dean Smith of UNC Chapel Hill -- another friend has a brother named "Wake" and one named "Forest" as in Wake Forest.
|
Wooster.
Just kidding. I'm not that mean. |
