Everyone please welcome....
From our official website:
International Council is pleased to announce that Alpha Gamma Delta will colonize at Virginia Tech beginning in late January 2006. The opportunity to colonize early next year is the result of a decision made several years ago to invite three National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) groups to colonize at Virginia Tech. It is now Alpha Gamma Delta’s turn to start a colony! Virginia Tech, a campus with more than 21,000 full-time undergraduate students, is located in Blacksburg, Virginia, which is approximately 40 miles southwest of Roanoke. It has a very strong Greek community that is well supported by the university. There are currently 12 NPC groups at Virginia Tech. Chapter total is 85, and the average chapter size last year was 123. The All Women Greek grade point average for the 2004-2005 academic year was 3.201. A small team of Alpha Gamma Delta volunteers and staff members has made its first visit to Virginia Tech, where it met with members of the college Panhellenic, university personnel, Alpha Gamma Delta alumnae and others. The team members are unanimous in their enthusiasm about the campus and their excitement about our colonization. As with all successful colonizations, Virginia Tech will need support from our members—both collegiate and alumnae. From recruitment to serving as an advisor or in another volunteer capacity, to providing financial support, there will be many opportunities to be a part of this unique opportunity! |
How exciting!
I know we're kept in the dark when it comes to extension opportunities, but for good reason. Red and buff roses to the presenting team and to the VT Panhellenic for choosing us! |
I just read my email officially announcing this. Because of the way we were chosen, we've known this for a while, but didn't know exactly when it would take place until more recently. But, at this point, I just have to say...
Woohoo! |
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

YEA!!!!!!!!!!
Totally cool!!:D
Anymore? |
Bump for our sisters who haven't seen it yet!
And FYI, there's a thread in Greek Life about this as well, and it talks about the Greeks already at the Virginia Tech campus. :) |
YEA! Cool news!
|
Yeah!!! Best of luck to our newest colony and her members!!!
I remember how much work it was-- But it was so worth it!!! The memories made, the laughs we shared, and the friendships that were further strengthened on the day we were initaited and installed made it all worth it! |
I have new information on the Virginia Tech colonization. If any of you would be interested in sponsoring a Bid Day package and/or serving as a Pearl Sister, please PM/IM/email/call me for more information.
|
Looks like numbers are up at Virginia Tech this year...how great for our new colony!
|
Good article... wrong word usage! I guess that is my new petpeeve... if you are going to write about something use the correct spelling of the word. There is no - in non-NHPC panhellenic!!! grrrrrrr....
Maria... I haven't gotten the info... have you sent it yet? |
Maria-
I pm'ed you too..... but just had another thought too. So watch out for another PM from me...... |
Hi girls! I'm out of town at the moment. Will email the info to all of you on Monday! Sorry for the delay.
|
OK, all those who have PM'ed me with interest...could you please PM me your email addresses? I can't cut and paste the information. Sorry for the delay!

|
Hey Maria, if you could forward me that info, that'd be great. I'll be sure to pass it along to the alum and collegiate chapter, maybe even the Junior Circle.
You should have my email address (the gmail one) -- if not, tsk tsk! |
Oops. Mailbox is now empty. Sandy, I'll forward you that info pronto.

Question...it said that Bid Day was yesterday (YAY!)...but we're still allowed to sponsor and purchase packages, right?
|
Yes I'm pretty sure that's the case, because I'm assuming that the colony will continue to extend bids through COB. At Chapman, we had tons of extra Bid Day packages, and they distributed them well after the initial colony recruitment. :)
|
We didn't have any of this... no pearl sister no bid day package... nothing. When did this start?

I am pleased to announce that the Theta Chi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity was installed this past Saturday, April 29. 85 collegians (total is 85) and 6 alumnae initiates were initiated. Zeta Delta (Towson State University), Theta Zeta (Randolph-Macon College), and Alpha Omicron (West Virginia Wesleyan College) served as the initiating teams. These ladies did an outstanding job!
One Alpha Gam mom was there to witness her daughter's initiation. Three of the alumnae initiates were a mom and her two daughters; the third daughter was initiated as a collegian at the same time! What a special day for those four women! Feast of Roses was amazing and there were many parents in attendance as well as 13-15 representatives from NPC and IFC. The Chapter President and the Colony President are looking forward to meeting many of their sisters at Convention! |
Thanks for the update, Susan! That's so awesome. I checked out their website the other day and it looks great. I can't wait until they have some Installation/Initiation Day pics posted!
