LOL - I met my college sweetie there - your standard "cute meet"! A year later, he ended up living up above it. Pitt didn't own it then, but may by now. I think the university owns anything in Oakland after X amount of years!!
Bobby, their hot dogs & sausages are really good, but their french fries!!!!! Some people mistakenly order a large french fry, not knowing that a large is the whole freakin' fry basket!!! Suddenly I'm in the mood for a hot dog... |

I'm ready to call an emergency Pittsburgh GCer meetup, and we're going to the O! PAGING TRACY- when are you going to be in town??????? |

One of my sisters lived in that apartment one year! She had it decorated with lawn furniture and Christmas lights. I want to buy the O so that I can assure it will be there when our children and grandchildren get the drunk munchies and need a chicken parm at 1 am. Dani, I won't be in Pittsburgh until spring but I definitely think an O pilgrimage will be in order :) |
Are O fries fresh cut or poured out of a bag?
I'm going to guess fresh cut. |
The fries are fresh cut, and KR, we DEFINITELY need a Dirty O run!! Just name the date!
|
Oh man, many a great night I have had at the O. After shows at Laga (now theyre making into lofts)...I also used to hang out at "the wall" (right in front of Pitt Law/across from the O) all the time. I cant believe that the O is closing, man those fries ruled.
|
I don't think it's definite it will close...it just sounds like the owners want to get out of the business.

Maybe, all the Pittsburgh GCer's should get together and buy the place. So that way the rest of us can get a special GC discount the next time we're in Pittsburgh. ;)
|
If they want to get out of the Bus. why dont they want to give up the Logos and Tags?
If they dont, it will be just another greasy dog joint or less! |

Well then, It Might Be Worth something then wont it!
Building Dont Make a Dog Joint if one can be found near the area! Ambiance is Important isnt it! But if it is all it is then Die You Filthy Dawg!:) |

Ah Yes, the Old Location, Location is Prime!:D We have the :1106: in My "THE PITT"! Great Tenders, Burgers, and Curly Fries! The same today as Years ago. A National Treasure! Was across from Our First House, thank goodness. Hope for The Other Pittsburg"H"ers, it can be saved!:) |
yup! a very fine Pittsburgh institution much like Primanti Bros. (great sandwiches) and other long gone features like Corleone's Pizza.
I hope they retain the name, food quality and service. It'd be a shame to see the "O" go into Oblivion. later, perdido88 |
We loved that place! It was always worth the trip down the street. I cannot believe another buyer/owner isn't interested. Oh well, make room for another Starbucks.
